Artwork Description:

This four plate etching entitled, THE FOUR GHOSTS OF AVILA IN SHADES OF VIOLET PINK SYMPHONY is FROM the Second Edition of the work entitled LAS DAMAS DE AVILA THE LADIES OF AVILA. I used the etching
techniques of Intaglio, Aquatint, and Drypoint.
The artwork is an adaptation of an Albumen Print which I located in the A. D. White Architectural Photographic Collection, Cornell University Library. In that image, only one lady is represented, but I added three to coincide with the Elemental Spirits of Earth, Air, Fire and Water.

Each zinc plate measures 5 inches high by 4inches wide, or 12.700cm by 10.160cm. I placed the plates on the printing press in two rows of two to produce this singular-image. The natural printmaking paper I used was Stonehenge, color fawn. The print measure 15 inches wide by 16 inches high, or 38.100cm x 40.640cm. I printed the work using three colors of oil based Charbonnel inks.

This work was hand-printed by the artist at the Center for Works on Paper, located in Philadelphia. This is the FOURTH Best Print of Eight from the Second Edition of FOUR as noted on the lower left hand portion of the work. Please note that this etching is shipped and sold to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price includes packaging and handling. Shipment costs are NOT included in the Absolute Arts Dot Com price.
