Artists Describing Their Art:
Vani Ghougassian - My Thirst for art is a silent battle of surviaval which started as a childhood curiosity, and quickly grew into my passion. I am always eager to find creative ways to express my emotions and I do so through design, watercolors and ornamental stained glass. Being an Architect allows me to be more versatile and permits me to focus on detail. There is more to being an artist than possessing a particular talent. Art is expressing your view using color, form, light, texture, technique and most of all to complete the work. Old Poeple, still life, demolished houses in the countryside, are my subjects because they hold an unsolvable mistery for me. Sara my only beloved daughter is my inspiration. ...
Queenie Lam - I use acrylic and oil to showcase my imaginative world and to make a religious comment on the ideals. I also want my art to be a way to record the history of life as it has gone through, with occasional integration of my feelings at that particular moment. I am particularly interested in creating my work with a variety of vibrant colors because I believe that this is the way life is supposed to be portrayed. ...
Eleanor Hartwell - I am a self taught artist. I like to explore in all types of media, and try out a variety of style and type of work. I have a lot of fun doing what I do. I have done a series of drawings for a book on Harehunting, which will be published in the spring of 2002. "One Day at a Time" In October of 2002, New Hampshire Public Radio will be offering a "gift" of a mug to thier fall fund drive donaters, featuring my painting done specially for this project. ...
Michael Sharpe - Michael Sharpe is a self-taught artist and his artwork ranges from many, many, many nudes, to landscapes, flowers and dancers. Michael has a fascination with the human body, which is the most natural of beauties. An array of pastels, oils, pencil, watercolours and acrylics will greet you as you enter his world. His sculptures, again diverse, range from natural abstracts in wood to complex figure studies in a variety of media. ...
Nancy Overbury - Nancy Overbury is an illustrator who primarily paints watercolor or oil landscapes. Her watercolour paintings are built from wet in wet washes, followed by successive layers of glazing. She is entirely self-taught in the watercolor medium, and has spent the last 15 years refining her skills as a watercolorist, carrying on the tradition of artists in the family including her father Ken Overbury. Overbury is inspired by nature's splendor and the fascinating effects of light. She believes in experiencing Nature by exploring forests and mountain ranges in order to add depth and emotion to her works....
Danny S Christian - Natural light is the most important element in my paintings, whether it comes as early morning light seen through a misty veil, noonday bright sunlight or a late afternoon glows. The beauty of this light may evokes one's feeling toward an otherworldly sense, taking one's spirit and mind toward a deep admiration on this wonderful created nature and adoration toward the Creator of it. After years of searching, I chose watercolor as a medium because it can serve best in expressing what I feel and see in the Nature on a piece of plain paper. Letting its white luminosity shines through layers of transparent color. Giving me lots of freedom to execute the work while 'playing' with the paint, enjoying every stroke and splash I made. I believe that the true measure of success for myself is when my paintings can draw people's heart nearer toward The One who creates all beautiful things we can enjoy in this life. ...

By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. Hanne Lore Koehler - The unique contemporary style, a sort of impressionistic realism, of Canadian artist, author illustrator, Hanne Lore Koehler has developed naturally in her watercolors, oil and acrylic paintings. Choose from a wide range of subjects including action-packed sports art, energetic portraits, landscapes, still life, fantasy and children's book illustrations or commission a custom painting. "I have splashed powerful action sports on watercolor canvases for the Canadian Olympic Association and stroked a gentle brush to capture elusive moments of light and mood on oil canvases for private and corporate collectors. My subjects are as varied as my interests and I adjust my style to suit the mood of my subjects but the finished painting always exudes my love of life.
