Artists Describing Their Art:

Harris Gulko - Rather than giving technical details concerning my paintings, I take the liberty to convey, in fewer than 150 words, the philosophy of life that influences all my paintings. My artwork cuts across artistic barriers, displaying many themes landscapes, seascapes, cloud formations, abstracts, childhood games, religious compositions and more. If there is one constant in my work, it is my inconsistency When I am at my easel I try to create on canvas what I am seeing. But often I go off on a tangent, and what ends up often bears little resemblance to what I was attempting to paint. My formula for success consists of ambition, drive, hard work, effort, energy, fear of failure, patience, perspiration and persistence. Life and love are made of time. Privileged those who find love in time. Wise those who express love, before life runs out of time....

Sarah Longlands - I trained at Bristol and Manchester, where I gained a BA hons and completed my post-graduate studies at University College London Slade School of Art. In the words of one of my collectors Ostensibly realistic, her work goes beyond this to explore the nature of reality, and of time and space. The artworks are refined, emphasizing her knowledge and meticulousness in the chosen medium. But her art is not just representational it also has a rare imaginative flair. The objects are changed into something which is beyond the original and which creates a kind of parallel ideal artistic reality. If this sounds a little like surrealism, then maybe that is not so far from the truth, but the work is subtler than that. Having previously exhibited in many exhibitions in both the United Kingdom and France, Gold Fish Galleries in Sarasota, Florida then in the Lincoln Centre in New York and done many commissions for people both in London, the provinces but also in The United States, I finished a commission from Cunard Line in 2003, through the art consultants Onderneming Kunst to do six oil paintings for the penthouses on board the new Queen Mary 2, launched in ...

Wendy Lippincott - Complex allegories dominate the many themes that pervade Ms. Lippincott's paintings. She prefers incorporating science into her art, consistent with her background in electrical engineering, but often gets waylaid with mythological and historical visions. Her paintings are currently only available for licensing. She hopes to have prints available soon. ...

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. The indescribable nature of the "Duree De Ma Vie" in particular has a growing portion of the art community considering it the conception of an entirely new style. Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Monica Puryear - My paintings and drawings portray personal stories, dreams and fantasies of my deep connection with nature. I frequently use animals and plants that intersect in some way to create a feeling of intimacy and mystery. I use vivid colors and rich details of my subjects in the hope of inticing the viewer into my world to discover and relish the beauty they possess. It is my intention to provide the viewer with a respite from the violent imagery that is so prevalent in our daily lives, so one may enter into a richly colored world in a moment of intense beauty....

Sonja Tellison - More than simple faerie tales, myths can teach, heal, act as morality guides, or beacons of inspiration along a sometimes murky spiritual path. The myths of a culture are its soul. They are whats left behind when the political border lines have changed and the people themselves are gone. Myth helps us to understand our own nature as well as that of the world around us. Joseph Campbell, noted scholar and one of the foremost authorities on mythology states, Myth must be kept alive. The people who can do this are artists . . . . The function of the artist is the mythologization of the environment and the world. At a time when we, as a society, rely more on science and technology for answers to our various quandries, than a collective, traditional knowledge, refocusing on mythologization is more important then ever. Are you anxious Here, take a new pill Are kids more violent Must be the video games The adage Theres nothing new under the sun. is itself certainly not a new concept. If we delve deep enough, the answers are already existent, like diamonds in the dark. When we forget the stories of our ancestors, we forget our own past and...

Clark-camargo Mary - I have found an outlet for my love of color and texture and that is with Glass Mosaic. I originally started doing abstract because I can feel the patterns and shapes like music flowing from my fingers. I have recently started doing more realistic pieces finding the glass to be my perfect paint. I am constantly experimenting with new techniques to add even more texture and interest to my art....

Kimmie Hamm - Everywhere you dream to go can become a part of you and everywhere you have been is a part of you. I am an explorer and optimist at heart, so when I set out to create something one word always comes to mind: Possibilities I feel that through art I can explore the visions in my mind, everything from a small flower or blade of grass to distant worlds filled with whimsy and thoughts of what ifaEUR|aEUR|. Culturally I have two aspects that influence me one being my Native American ancestry and the other my German immigrant ancestry. I am deeply rooted in the beauty and wonderment of nature. My wise grandmother told me if you have strong roots your sprit can fly anywhere and still return home. That saying has always stuck with me and in many ways sparked my imagination. The explorer in me must come from my immigrant ancestry. My great grandfatheraEURtms family traveled to America on a steam ship in 1874. I can imagine them traveling for what must have seemed like an eternity. I often contemplate what they must have been thinking, and try to express the excitement of the unknown and the anticipation ...

Marilyn Nosewicz - Photography, and Painting are like Magic, Joy , My Birthday, and Christmas all wrapped into one good feeling. I wait for my image to appear in my darkroom, the world stops for that time. I truely live in the moment. Finally I see my images appear before my eyes like magic. I work in Photography Silver Gelatin Black and White primarily and Color Photography. My Painting degree is from Syracuse University. My Silver Gelatin Black and White Photography work is hand printed in the darkroom. I also work in Color Photography, and now also Digital. All my materials are archival. All work is signed and dated. Please Sign my mailing list, or my Guest book, I would like to hear from you. Thank you for looking at my work. ...

Jacqueline Rudolph - The Work In Silence there is eloquence. That is what Jacqueline Rudolph's images and figurative sculpture convey. Jacqueline's creations possess an ethereal presence the rejects all pretence and convention so that the experience is on of pure connection. The essence of the soul emerges through her prolific creative process, transforming the work into an emanation of power and beauty. "My work is my life, my purpose, my obligation, my responsibility and most of all my voice, a voice that wants and needs to be heard. My passion is inspired by an embodiment of a dream, where we embrace our collective identity and emerge as a people united in compassion, harmony and peace. My intent is to ignite the beauty of diversity and inspire to embrace the power of our connection. I envision a world that embodies acceptance, respect and celebration, a world that is blind to race, class, religion and gender, a world that is one." -Jacqueline Rudolph ...

Ken Hillberry - In art and in life, dynamics of balance, integrity and tolerant interaction of all elements or participants ought to be see, experienced and maintained. At the same time, the challenge of affecting this balance is creatively encountering all changes and adapt accordingly. For some, the destination or pre-determined outcomes are sought more often than not. Then there are some who savor the journey, thus witnessing and enjoying developments along the way. I fall into the latter category. It's like watching the film develop in a darkroom. the image takes form a little at a time right before my eyes. The creative process, for me, is void of pressure and timeless. The ability and practice and discipline are central in my approach. My creative intent is to engage a viewer in thought and emotion, as well as, with their eyes. Using imagination, retrospect or model, my range of composition can be conceptual, perhaps impressionistic or abstract in application, but always developed to evoke an awareness and appreciation for the relative conditions in life experience and art form as I incisively or playfully interpret my experiences along the way. ...
