Artists Describing Their Art:
Peter Marangi - I am an illustrator and artist that distinguishes himself from the masses. My ability to voice opinions and convey messages through my art has allowed me the opportunity to develop a truly unique style and vision. It is difficult to separate ones character from ones work. The people and causes I feel passionate about are depicted in much of my work with the same strength and emotion that they instill in me. I believe that along with my talent, it is this passion that has garnered a great deal of attention around my recent work. After graduating from Sheridan College this past spring (after a nine year hiatus) I was presented with the Faculty Award of 2002 which recognized outstanding achievements within the renowned program. As my career continues to progress I have also managed to impress several magazine publications with my original style. The respect of the art community, faculty, art directors and advertising executives has provided me with confidence and assurances that my work has mass appeal and definite validity. My experience as an autoworker for the past nine years at the Ford Oakville Truck Plant has served as enlightenment and inspiration for the "Ford Series". This slice ...
Philip Hallawell - I work in various media: oil, watercolor, dry pastels, pen and ink and mixed media. My work is a result of a fragmented view of the world, which gives it a surreal quality. However, my process is not surreal, because I start with a definite theme that I wish to investigate. My main area of interest is people and the human form and I am constantly investigating the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual aspects of Man. Over the years I have developed various series, which I revisit periodocally, investigating different aspects. In purely visual terms, what fascinates me is light and form and how I can use diverse visual elements in a complementary way, opposing, for instance, line and form, or rough and smooth textures. The use of diferent materials to achieve diverse expressions, either alone or as mixed media, along with alternating between a graphic representation and a painterly one, or mixing the two, is a very important aspect of the way I materialize my thinking into images. Equally important is the transition from very realistic images to a totally abstract means of expression and alternating between control and expressiveness....

Michael Jessing - My art has its roots in the imagination. It is the crucible where systems of humanity (urban, social, political, religious etc.) are synthesised with nature (earth, matter, energy, emotions) to form dreams/ visions. This is the artist's journey of transformation. My imaginative art deals with experiences from these systems which inspire me towards the expression of a unique image. These images offer alternative contemporary responses to patterns/cycles reflected in myth, religious texts such as the Psalms, geometry and symbolic forms. All systems must be open to change or else that system will stagnate and perish. The relationship between the systems and their inevitable return to the void is at the basis of my art. ...
Eleanor Hartwell - I am a self taught artist. I like to explore in all types of media, and try out a variety of style and type of work. I have a lot of fun doing what I do. Romy Galicia - Creating a fine art in any medium, style or genre is an expression of my inner self... chaotic yet exudes itself into some form of order and structure that is conforming to my outside self and the world I struggle to recreate. My ever-growing fascination of colors, shapes, lines, textures serve as the building block and foundation to recreate and reexamine order, solidity, movement and style that manifest itself into my ever-increasing and ever-evolving art portfolio. Photographic images of people, animals, places and man-made and/or natural objects and abstracts are filtered through my mind and become so vivid and real. When I am in a creative mood, I pick up a pen or ink, a brush, an oil or acrylic paint, a canvas and start to reconstruct the images into works of aunthentic fine arts. There is nothing more soothing and refreshing for me to see the final and tangible product ready to be hung and exhibited for the world to see. When people make constructive comments on my artworks, that in itself sufficiently serves as my motivation to create more. If you have some word of encouragement and/or praise, let me know. You ...
Raquel Soaz - My work is hand-built by slab and pinch construction using low-fire clay. In my most recent work, I give much attention to colors to complete my work using either glazes, underglazes, cold finishes (acrylics), inks, color pencils, and/or any other I need for communicating my intended vision. Most of my pieces are figurative/objects. Printed and shaped with my childhood country's colors, rhythms and warmth. ...

Jeanclaude Davreux - SPONSOR Blinds by Window Improvements Dear friend, I warmly thank you for the honnor that you make me while agreeing these some words inspired by your work Jean-Claude DAVREUX ? How i know it ? At one time or the Palestinian people were victim of the misinformation most skilfully assembled and the amalgams most simplistic. They were very few those which,by their feathers, their words or their brush dared to express the right history of the Palestinian people, its sufferings, its uprooting, its humanism, because they navigate against the current? But its is thanks to this small number that more and more , the collective conscience took possession of the reality of the drama palestinian. And that, nowadays, its cause is know better, better included understood. Jean-Claude Davreux forms part of these"right" which served the truth and which showed with powerfull colors the endurance of the Palestinian people. Neil Loewen - Form, movement and colour fascinate me. I view life holistically, take pleasure in variegated meaning and context as means to transcend realistic representation into the world of spirit, ideas and values.
