Artists Describing Their Art:

Lisa Levasseur - "I am moved by the actions, history and events that shape mankind, by nature or anything that elevates the spirit. I feel we are connected, that we can affect or be affected by everything around us. I can't help wanting to create things that reflect how I feel. I want people to understand what they may be sacrificing, ignoring or overlooking in life. Sometimes it's watching the simplest things, it could be the most horrifying things, often it's experiencing the adventure or beauty nature has to offer and it's definitely in the connection I have with animals. It translates into all this energy which I can express in a positive way through my artwork; I only hope it inspires the same passion, love and hope in others." ...

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. The indescribable nature of the "Duree De Ma Vie" in particular has a growing portion of the art community considering it the conception of an entirely new style. Cecile Tissot - Statement in English and French/ Presentation en anglais et francais * * * * * * * * * * * * Born in 1970, currently lives and works in Paris and Boulogne-Billancourt. I have been sculpting for about 15 years, after I discovered carving in London in 1997. I have been since then following a personal way in sculpture, mostly in stone and wood carving. I also work directly in nature through landart projects. Most of my works deal with the sacred, emptiness, traces, and link presence and absence - I attempt to emphasise the shy, the almost-nothing, the sensitive. My latest works tend towards verticality and nomadism, in an attempt to create, through their installation, ephemerical holy places - small or big.

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Timothy Scott - Breaking free from old bonds and going toward a new personal style. My watercolors have always sold well, but recently I have decided to move away a bit from my watercolor paintings. I had my own unique handling of the medium, but it was time for a change. But where does a new way of creating art come from? If I choose to paint in an abstract way I truly believe it must come from within, not from a starting point previously explored by others. Let me explain that I am a good realist. However, my abstract work starts from a different place, a different perspective. My new style has been helped along by a series of serendipitous events. First, years ago I met Delores Fortuna in Oak Park, Illinois. She is a wonderful potter who had a studio 3 blocks from our house. I took many classes from her. Loved clay and even better, porcelain clay. I liked the whole process from wedging the clay, to throwing the forms to glazing the bisque fired pieces. When my wife and I moved to Virginia. I found a used kiln and wheel down here and did some pottery. At the same ...

Emilio Merlina - I was born in 1950 in the North East of Italy from a polish mother and a sicilian father. I toured the world until I was 35, then I returned to Italy and picked up again my old passion painting and sculpture. As for myself, I can only say thoughts and paintings, paintings and thoughts. Everything maybe useless, however everything is life. i?1/2The human being leaves its signs, graffiti, indian dreams and imagination. Now I only have left a few more possibilities to express the colors which are not. Only the sign, scratched, angry or brushed is the witness. The sign has passed from there and there it has lived.i?1/2 Emilio Merlina Some hear if a door opens Others hear a latch which opens or closes Others more they hear the Angel when he turns over a page of the Great Book From the novel Missa Sine Nomine By Ernst Wiechert I have words which relegate my hunger And the hunger which owns my body but which do not confine them I have words which are both my confined hunger and body By the Italian poetess Paola Lovisolo ...

John Bonnel - My Statement By John Albert Bonnel The Bent Collector Of One Thousand Limbs I prefer the look of things that are made by hand. I just believe in taking a grassroots approach in everything in life. Music is an inspiration. Artistic, primitive, and important for me to live happy. I try to create a demented form of folk/pop art. Something that has a sense of humor, exposing heart and dysfunction in small town. I create with my hands. I screen print on fabric, I draw and smudge on butcher paper. I carve into linoleum. I cut and paste. I splatter spill and recycle. I use other people's hands. I use telephone poles, t-shirts, album covers and tattoos to display my art. I want to create art that looks like Velvet Underground sounds. I want to show, in each piece, how much I love creating it, with Joe's warts and all. ...

Hector Marin - My paintings in New York. (Free watercolor with every painting sold, one for each $100 you spend) Hi, this online art exhibit forms part of my production during the last 25 years. Here you will find different aspects of my struggle to survive as a visual artist using the most eclectic approach to adapt and fulfill my needs. Usually to communicate my ideas I paint. Painting is my language and through my artwork you can perceive my ideas. New york has served me as a source of inspiration and learning the past 25 years. Somehow I feel that New York reinforces my roots. It evokes a nostalgia for the ancient cultures of the Olmec, Maya, Chibcha, and Inca, cultures which strongly influenced Central America and specifically Costa Rica, were I was born. Please check the videos to the left side of the screen to take a look at the free watercolors. Thank you. Sincerely, Hector Marin-Arias I AM OFFERING FREE ART LESSONS, PLEASE CHECK MY VIDEOS FOR WATERCOLOR PAINTING. MORE VIDEOS ARE COMING SOON. ...

Todd L Thomas - Known as "The Artist of Vivid Color", Mr. Thomas coined this statement: "In a world that can be so dark at times, why add to that darkness? Why not shine alittle light?" That statement has been thoroughly expressed and illustrated in his artworks....

Heather Hickey - The cursor is blinking, staring at me wanting answers, words that I don't have. What do I say to it, to you. Art to me is an outlet of thoughts, joys, worries. I work at night, listening to music and crawling inside of what I draw. I don't think about it I just do it. Sometimes I don't recognize it the next morning like a random passing thought. What was I thinking? I don't know but it must have been weird. I have never taking an art class, I just draw to settle my mind, to let energy out and to feel connected to apart of the world beyond physical things. I hope to make new friends, to meet people who feel as passionate about drawing as I do. Please let me hear from you. Thnx, ...

Tamar Sorkin - I have always worked from organic subjects- plants, animals, or the human body, but usually I arrive at an abstract, "zoomorphic" description, that enables me a wider perspective. ...

Frans Frengen - www.allart-frengen.be Fumagine is to paint with a flame, a sculpture of soot, an installation of smoke. It's no more or no less. Begun in 1976, Belgium was only with this "figurative" technique that probably would have been no goal without a cross pass from Yves Klein who created Art with fire. Only later frans learned also know the other three masters of the quartet from the zero period, Aubertin, Peeters and especially Otto Piene - the biggest idol of Frans. Frans Frengen has his noted fumagine - blue recovered in his experiments; it was precisely a blue like the other blue from his predecessor Yves Klein; associated as a complementary color to the color of soot so that he sees the possibility of being on a beach, walk a tide line of grains to approach contemporary art with the light in and on the soot that is recognized universally in each exhibition space and even in the universe by creating. In soot collected, Frengen, sees elements of figuration that are extremely varied. It's like an author he paints, draws and sculpts simultaneously, poetic, contemporary, recognizable, breathtaking shades with soot, sculpting with stains and holes. He add some ...
