Artists Describing Their Art:
Terry Gardiner - Working in silkscreen pop art and riding horses everyday has given me a real connection to the toil of the emerging artist. John Bonnel - My Statement By John Albert Bonnel The Bent Collector Of One Thousand Limbs I prefer the look of things that are made by hand. I just believe in taking a grassroots approach in everything in life. Music is an inspiration. Artistic, primitive, and important for me to live happy. I try to create a demented form of folk/pop art. Something that has a sense of humor, exposing heart and dysfunction in small town. I create with my hands. I screen print on fabric, I draw and smudge on butcher paper. I carve into linoleum. I cut and paste. I splatter spill and recycle. I use other people's hands. I use telephone poles, t-shirts, album covers and tattoos to display my art. I want to create art that looks like Velvet Underground sounds. I want to show, in each piece, how much I love creating it, with Joe's warts and all. ...
Istvan Szil - Istvan Szil/ crossingthetsdottingtheis Artist's Statement My work is based on the reconfiguration of materials and images . I alter objects and materials with the extreme sense of irony; choosing to address philosophical questions and cultural issues through employing succint humorous gestures. I constantly collect images from the internet , recognizing its search option as an unparaleled oportunity to gain access to wide variety of visual material. I alter the collected images by digital means to accommodate my comments relating to their source or context they were culled from. My sculptures enact visual stunts calling into question how objects are utilized within everyday life citing both the subtle marks that become embedded within objects and also also the effect that objects have within space. I am interested in the vocabulary of advertising and its ability to deliver the maximum of information in reductive , visual bites. Overall, my work shifts the use value of commonplace objects and images , through my subtle interventions. I invite the viewer to reflect upon these meticulously selected entities that are normally encountered within everyday life and by manipulating their functionality , I invest these objects and materials with a unique yet accessible sculptural presence. ...
Sergey Lesnikov - Old things fascinate - wood, metal, stones, cobweb of craquelure on old varnish .. the way time worked on them. Perhaps as proof that Time is material, and has value in itself. Once, looking at the massive hundred-year-old board from the old house, I imagined all those works on the wood panels, from icons to painting, which we never saw, that left, disappeared, lost in time. How could they look like Then I came to idea to make such a thing, looking like a found artifact, with fragments of old painting on ancient piece of wood. So I have created it, and continue working now.. Additional technical education helps to find new and new technological solutions, and now every work is physically unique, because of the uniqueness of the key element - old wood, and because of the peculiarities of the process. Nowadays, when so many people are interested in medieval style, fantasy and pseudo-historical stories- from The Lord of the Rings to the Game of Thrones, such kind of works are interesting, arenaEURtmt they Such as they could be, if they existed in reality and reached our days.. Im always in search- of new approaches, new materials, sometimes ...
