My art philosophy formulated over many years practice is actually always present in the content of my work, although themes come and go and reflect other areas of my life and which are influenced by the work of great artists like Kazimir Malevich, Vladimir Tatlin, Juan Gris, Kurt Switters , Marc Chagall, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol and Joseph Beuys the themes of my art, if examined retain the content of my work which has remained as it has for 35 years now the attempt to disseminate the picture plane to see through and beyond, with colour, real time space, Collage Relief, imagery or optical device, multi point perspective and opto-kinetism, to reveal the truth that lays beyond .... Inspired by the vast Danube Delta which transverses his native Romania with its lagoons, reeds, hidden recesses, and isolated villages this art speaks to movement, change and, in a poetic way, to continuity. This work does not, however, portray a specific landscape; rather it speaks to an experience that transcends place and time. During the communist regime in Romania, which ended in 1989, reeds from the delta were extensively, and determinately, harvested with the goal of transforming the delta into a large agro-industrial zone. The reed, in PresecanaEURtms previous series, Traces of Water, is a symbol of the individual, freedom, and resistance, essentially a life force that perseveres. In his current work, the imagery of the reed becomes more and more abstracted leaving in its wake a trace, a quivering, of its being. Sonja Kobrehel - My work in visual arts reflects the constant changes and experiences in my personal life. I am guided by my feelings, thoughts, dreams and visions. Yucel Donmez - Yucel Donmez's place in Turkish and American Art History: Yucel Donmez has been continuing his artistic work in Chicago since 1980. He has staged many exhibitions both in Turkey and in the States and was accepted into one of the most influential art encyclopaedias to shape American art history, 'Who is Who in American Art' in 2000. Laurie Macmillan - Born in Greece, and having also lived in Israel and Nicaragua as a young child, I never felt as if I belonged in the Illinois of my childhood. I was irresistibly drawn to the West, where spaces were large and choices were expansive. To me, that landscape was exotic, and the geology was fascinating. I was also driven to explore the world. In 1973 I visited several third world nations and saw horribly overcrowded slums, realizing then that overpopulation was the world's worst problem. Travel was my focus for thirty years, along with hiking in the jagged, dramatic mountains of California's eastern Sierra. Now, painting has become my new travel, and an even more rewarding path to discovery. Although largely self-taught, I attended a weekly abstract painting workshop for several years, and have participated in numerous other workshops. Probably the artistic movement that has influenced me the most is abstract expressionism, and I love its depictions of pure energy. Tonalist paintings have always appealed to me; realism does not. Chris Gould - Never the studious young boy, I spent most of my class time drawing sketches in the pages of my notebooks. Santa Anna, raising his sword in the battle for the Alamo buried deep within my notebook jumped out and attacked my father one evening while he help me with my homework.
