Margaret Stone: 'Kokopelli And The Mask of Gold', 2014 Encaustic Painting, Abstract Figurative. Kokopelli is to the left in this painting, and in myth dates back 3000 years. He was also considered a trickster, for what reason I do not know. The ...

  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Seidai Tamura - I dedicate my life to realism, a representational rendition in oil. I am specialized in female nude works. Recently, Ive diverged into an erotic genre along with traditional, academic nudes. Due to controversial contents, I am not able to show my erotic pieces. Please message me, if you are interested to see my erotic works. They sell fast among collectors, but some are still available for purchase. Amit Bar - In 1950 I was born in Kibbutz Kfar Hamaccabi, Israel, where I lived until 1988. As a kibbutz-member I was not able to take a complete study at an art-college. Therefore I followed evening-lessons drawing for many years. In 1984 I finally got the permission to study creative art at the university. My study at the university of Haifa was combined with Comparative Literature and took three years. I have learned there a lot about various forms of Creative Art. As follows, I decided to dedicate my interest on photography. My final project was children photography. Since 1988 I live in Doetinchem, The Netherlands, and work as a freelance-photographer and painter. In my commercial work I take photographs for a stock agency and make commissioned work. Wishing to combine my photography with drawing and painting, I began to mix them in my artistic work. It began in 1992 with photo collages and took another form in 1996 with body-paintings. Thank you very much for your visit. I wish you lots of pleasure on my gallery and my site, at www.amitbar.com! Amit Bar....

Nicole M. Mathieu - Difficult to talk about art as one should, first of all, feel it. What is more fantastic that listening to a piece of music, reading a novel or seeing an artwork which will transport you deeply inside. For me, Art is not a duplication of what one sees, it should transcend it. My portraits were done in this sense trying to transpose the invisible part of the model. In my recent oil paintings, I try to give sounds with colors which reflects life itself and will remind you of things that seem familiar. Last December 2011, I moved to a beautiful art studio in Paris (near Place d'Italie) and you are welcome to visit my atelier while on vacation. Please call me before at 00 33 (0)663528344 ...

Veronica Shimanovskaya - Shimanovskaya's work is concerned with the interplay of materials, shapes and colours orchestrated into harmonies informed by personal experiences. Aspiring to simultaneously explore the poetry and semantics of the visible world, she is convinced that the the viewer will make his or her own connections. ...

Vanessa Bernal - Artist's statement: My earliest childhood memories are those of painting with my grandfather and frequently visiting the Art Institute of Chicago where we would spend countless hours together. He taught me that everything we come in contact with has the potential of becoming a work of art. My grandfather and I would take walks together to hunt for "treasures" of discarded objects that later he would turn into beautiful collages and assemblages. It is those lessons I carry with me and -today- in my work I see his influence. I have never been comfortable with expressing myself verbally. I am not one to strike up a conversation with a stranger, nor do I feel comfortable speaking to a group of people. Visual expression comes naturally to me; it is through this means I can best communicate with others and feel the most comfortable. At a young age I became aware of the injustices being perpetrated in the world and was deeply disenchanted with the political process as a means of creating effective change in our global community. For me, becoming an artist was inevitable. Through the visual arts not only did I communicate my life's passions, my fears, ...

Leif Mårdh - To paint has always been a challenge to me. My uncle was a painter and my father was a sculptor, carving in wood. I learned a lot from them. Although I was very indeterminate as a young how to express my- self on canvas and develop my painting, how to chose style and media. I was a great admirer of the expressionists as well as of surrealists like Salvador Dali. Still very unsure of where is my homeyard in the enormous cityblocks of art I let the brush be conducted by in- fluence of my emotions. Sometimes resulting in creatures with yelling faces in a mess of colours, sometimes in themes in abstemious reticence. ...

Steve Miller - I have drawn and painted ever since I can remember. Pencil was always my favorite. I spent many hours as a child with a pencil and a piece of typing paper. In my late teens, I began to airbrush images on vans, motorcycle tanks, and T-Shirts. Later, I began creating illustrations for publications, and then on to creating graphics and animation on the computer for various companies/clients. Making a living seems to consume most of my time, but when things get slow or I find I have some extra time on my hands, the canvas seems to have an irresistible pull. One day a friend of mine, mentioned that he was going out and painting small plein air paintings. I told him I'd like to go along sometime. We set a time in the late spring a few years back and I borrowed an easel and we hit the Texas countryside. We painted 3 small paintings throughout the day and I loved it. It was such a relief to get away from the computer screen and play with color. Now I take my easel with me when ever I travel and paint every chance I get. Since ...

Margaret Stone - Here we are, physically cemented to the earth by gravity. But - our imaginations stretch and soar, taking us beyond our planet and connecting us with far places in the universe. Being part of this, do we indeed live and bloom in a cosmic garden? Ah, perhaps so. I am exploring this connection in my new artwork....

Kyle Johnston - i have been utilizing mixed media collage as format for the last twenty years. theme and subject are generally allowed to develop themselves as works progress. rarely do i pursue a work limited to a specific idea other than structure and material usage. collage as medium allows me to set moods and feeling within each work and develop subject independently of that point.the conveyance of subject as well as a formulation of emotion and spirit is a priority to me in my work.i feel my overall technique is basic and my goal is to create works that are of interest artistically and compelling in nature....

Stephen Fessler - Artist's Statement: Visionism All my images are born accidentally. I tack my studio dropcloths onto the wall once they've become sufficiently splattered with paint, and search the surface for suggestions. I'll discover an image within a tangle of marks, and paint to free it, an archaeologist unearthing an artifact. This process leads to related discoveries, and the more I find, the better I understand the space they inhabit, and a painting is underway. In this way does the painting gradually reveal its content and mood. Everything I like of the art I've seen, Eastern and Western, ancient and modern, sacred and profane, ends up in my work. It must be that, as I gaze at my randomly stained surfaces, these remembered images give clues as to what to look for. The larger canvases are free-hanging, fitted with grommets and intended to be tacked directly to the wall like a tapestry or banner. Smaller works on canvas are mounted and stretched so as to preserve their irregular edges. Stephen Fessler Artists' Statement: Directed Perception My mode of seeing changes when something has caught my attention. My "directed perception" chooses what I will see while obscuring everything...

Arnold Grace Jr - I cannot imagine what my life would be without the ability to express my inner-most thoughts, dreams and other realities in a visual manner. I express myself through acrylic and oil paintings, mostly on canvas medium. The urge to recreate and interpret my internal and external stimulants is primal and brings me much satisfaction. I do not limit myself to any particular style. However I do tend to paint in an impressionistic form, verging on surrealism, imaginative and figurative representation also. My designs are not complicated or over worked images, but are effective statements of my experiences, augmented by the use of brilliant shimmering color composed from a tight pallette of primary and secondary colors. My subjects are people scenes, landscapes, seascapes and whatever I am compelled to do....
