  • Artists Describing Their Art:

    D. Brent Miller - First and foremost, I approach photography the same as a writer--as a storyteller. My mission is helping others tell their story. As a photographer, the images must capture more than a pleasing image, it must say something about the person, the event or location. Sometimes, it takes a series of images to tell the story, like a photo essay. I want the viewer, or my customers, to respond to the images with a positive feeling, to smile or laugh a little at what's going on in the photo, to be reminded of fond memories, or to just express great satisfaction. Secondly, photography is a tremendous tool and method to bring people together, to find a common ground of understanding. It is to this end that I have been a life-long student of human behavior, and a documentarian of shared experiences. Thirdly, photography enhances my writing, as writing enhances my photography. To me, both are essential tools to telling complete stories. ...

Dion Mcinnis - Anyone can take a photograph...push a button. The magic is in the seeing...seeing with all your senses. My work, no matter the subject, comes from seeing with all my senses and then creating to share with others. www.PoetVision.com...

Teri Rice - Director...Cinematographer... Photographer Teri, a Louis Comfort Tiffany Award nominee, works in New York City. She has been involved in film, video and television since 1979. Her critically acclaimed avant garde videos, have shown at festivals around the world. She has 32 video and film credits as producer and director, which have screened at over 60 venues globally. Her controversial and cutting edge subjects have segued gracefully into the mainstream arena, stimulating and inciting viewers. Teri Rice's award winning work "The Kindling Point", was nominated a Top 10 Film of the Year, by "The Village Voice NYC", and has screened at Whitney Museum of American Art, and over 25 venues. Her 8mm film "Meddle" Screened at Museum Of Modern Art's Biennial 8mm Retrospective. Teri's background in photography is apparent in her video's critical aesthetic. Lyrically constructed themes permeate this artist's domain. Raw, surreal, deconstructed, reconstructed imagery sweep the audience into a vortex of voyeurism. Teri's photography is currently under contract with Monsoon Images, NYC...

Jen Molander - Jen was born and raised in New York City. She came to San Francisco in her mid-twenties and immediately claimed the Bay Area as her home. Through photography, Jen strives to tell the truth of what she sees, to distill the every day into its essence of form. She believes that each person and every moment is a unique expression of life and undeniable beauty. Beyond words, beyond thought, is a visual language that cannot be articulated but is experienced and understood nonetheless. Visual imagery speaks to us only to the degree that there is something in us that it recognizes--something both intimate and private, yet at the same time universal. ~~~~~~~~ Bare Truth Series: Jen's Bare Truth photographs are for women. Allowing them to express their spirit, personality and their inner and outer beauty. To find perfection where there is no such thing, to liberate the soul, mind and body. She believes in celebrating the strength of womanhood, motherhood and life. None of the people Jen photographs are models; they are all women that have chosen to take the journey of self-discovery. You to can take that journey visit me at www.jenmolander.com....

Tony Lee - I am an passionate photographer with loads of experience during the past 35 years. Specialities include portraits, beach and artistic nudes, travel and tourism-related imagery, all captured outdoors or interiors by window light. If interested I also have more galleries in different themes my galleries at

Tamaira Ramsey - I took my first influential photograph in 1982, I was twelve years old. There was nothing like seeing my picture on the front page of our school paper. I felt elated. I was also in awe. I quickly fell in love with the shadows in my photo. I had begun my love affair with light. I spent the next six years being a photojournalist. I felt then, as I still do that every image has a story. I now focus on a picture as pure art, but every now and then I will snap a shot just to capture history. I see the world frame by frame. Even after tucking my camera safely away, I continue to take pictures in my mind. ...

Manolis Tsantakis - The subject "Woman and Nature" which is the title of my photographs, It becomes an endless source of inspiration. Nature is perfect but also so fickle. The lighting and weather interchanges during a day could be unbelievable. Nature some times has a melancholic mood, but it could also elevate your senses. It offers tranquility and happiness, but also fear and insecurity. Woman, as a female gender by nature, matches perfectly with Nature, and it create within me, exactly the same feelings. It is a constant challenge for me, to tie together in perfect harmony these two live elements and create images of dreams and fantasy. ...

Lois Siegel - I have been taking photographs for over 30 years, focusing on a variety of styles and images. My airbrushed work is very theatrical. My collection of "Stars" is an on-going project. I have over 300 photographs in this collection. One hundred and twenty of my photographs(film directors, producers, actors)were displayed in Complexe Desjardins during the Montreal World Film Festival, 2002. ...

Amit Bar - In 1950 I was born in Kibbutz Kfar Hamaccabi, Israel, where I lived until 1988. As a kibbutz-member I was not able to take a complete study at an art-college. Therefore I followed evening-lessons drawing for many years. In 1984 I finally got the permission to study creative art at the university. My study at the university of Haifa was combined with Comparative Literature and took three years. I have learned there a lot about various forms of Creative Art. As follows, I decided to dedicate my interest on photography. My final project was children photography. Since 1988 I live in Doetinchem, The Netherlands, and work as a freelance-photographer and painter. In my commercial work I take photographs for a stock agency and make commissioned work. Wishing to combine my photography with drawing and painting, I began to mix them in my artistic work. It began in 1992 with photo collages and took another form in 1996 with body-paintings. Thank you very much for your visit. I wish you lots of pleasure on my gallery and my site, at www.amitbar.com! Amit Bar....

Philip Winestone - The image is EVERYTHING - so words should never be needed to define it or what it says. The photographs, drawings and monotypes of Philip Winestone are thoroughly minimalist and non-contextual, relying only on the play of light on the subject and the strength of the subject itself to communicate their respective messages....

Alexandre Nodopaka - 1. To portray ideas in a fresh style, but most important I was Born for Art, I Live for Art and will die for Art. 2. Abstraction in art is the greatest spiritual meditation & an ideal cerebral masturbation. 3. Photography killed representational art some 150 years ago. The computer killed abstract art. Today, thousands abstracts can be created in a day, they may be worth a thousand words but not a penny! 1. 1.
