Artwork Description:
Chartres Cathedral holds many secrets in its architectural details. This window has a mystical design made up of circles, squares, arches, and four-leaf clovers. Floating Hebrew letters are also hidden within its lines. This work was executed as a meditative tool. . . a sort of mandala in black and white, to help the viewer understand the Sacred Feminine, as well as The Madonna Principle, within art. My print was inspired by a photo taken around 1890. THIS INTAGLIO ETCHING WAS EXECUTED ON A ZINC PLATE 9 INCHES HIGH BY 6 INCHES WIDE or 22.860cm x 15.240cm. I used Charbonnel brand, oil-based intense black ink and printed on RivesBFK white paper both made in France. I hand printed the works myself at The Center for Works on Paper, Fleisher Art Memorial Philadelphia Museum of Art in the Open Printmaking Studio. This is the FIRST EDITION of FOUR each edition is limited to only six prints per editions. Print measures 11.2 inches by 15 inches 28 cm x 38.100 cm. Please note that this etching is shipped to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price does not include any shipment costs.
