Artwork Description:
This etching features The Betsy Ross House in 1900 and shows what the historic site actually looked like before the gentrification of Philadelphias Old City neighborhood in the late 1970s. The etching employs the techniques of intaglio and drypoint on three individual zinc plates, with each plate measuring 2 inches high by 3 inches wide. The print size is 8 inches wide by 11 inches high, or 20cm x28cm. I used oil-based French etching ink on Italian Pescia gray paper for this limited edition of only thirty-five original prints. This will only the only edition of this work. My etched image of the ROSS House was inspired by an original 1900 photomechanical print from the Library of Congress in Washington, D. C., Detroit Photographic Company Collection. The current Ross House has undergone extensive renovation, and this image gives the views a more authentic feel for the old location. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in matt selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, and the coast of the shipment box. Mailing costs are added.
