Artwork Description:

Title of this endearing work is, COWBOY CHILD IN CAMDEN NJ 1956 or On My Way To The Boots and Saddle on Christopher Street. This etching incorporated the studio techniques of drypoint, intaglio, and aquatint. It was created using two zinc plates placed on the press, one positioned above the other, to produce a single image. Each plate measured 4 inches high, or 10.160cm, by 5 inches wide, or 12.700cm. The plates were separated by a space of approximately one eighth of an inch. The overall image measures 5 inches wide by 8 inches high. The print size is 13 inches high, or 33.020cm, by 10 inches wide. or 25.400cm. This scene from 1956 was inspired by a sepia tint photograph taken by a Street-Photographer. During this period in the cities,immigrants would travel the streets with their camera equipment and a pony to peddle their talents door-to-door. This photographer had costumes and props, including cowboy and cowgirl outfit for children to use and have their photographs taken. A deposit was placed by a parent, and the photo was delivered in a few weeks. I am the child in the photo, and can still remember my Aunt Clare babysitting me on this eventful day I have only printed ten prints Edition One of Four this is Print Number Two of Ten. Editions II, III, and IV will have a limited run of only ten prints each and be created at a later time in different paper and ink color combinations. The color used in this first edition was a special blend of oil-based French inks, which included copper, gold, green, a blended orange, and a blended violet. Finely pulverized copper was added to the ink in this edition. I used Fawn colored, STONEHENGE brand paper, made in the UK when this was printed. Please note that this etching is shipped and sold to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and also allows the collector a choice in framing. The etching is shipped in a sturdy cardboard box. The print is wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price from Absolute Arts Dot Com does NOT shipment costs to the collector. However, packing supplies and handling costs are included in the price.
