Artwork Description:

I employed the studio techniques of intaglio, chine colle and drypoint to create this work, which has only TWO EDITIONS. This edition uses the method of Chine colle and contains only ten prints. The other edition is limited to twenty five prints. The media for this edition includes black oil base etching ink from Paris and RivesBFK white paper, along with a hand dyed mulberry bark paper from Thailand that is treated with methylcellulose. The scene represents one of the most sacred places in the Islamic faith, The Dome of the Rock, a Jerusalem mosque. Some believe this was built upon the ruins of The Temple of Solomon after the Romans destroyed it in 70 C. E. The image size is 10 inches wide by 8 inches high. The print size is 11.25 inches high by 12 inches wide. My etching is based upon a photo that I found during research at the US Library of Congress in Washington, D. C. This original photo, taken between 1898 and 1914, is catalogued within the G. Eric Edith Matson Photograph Collection. The work was hand printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in mat selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, Certificate of Authenticity, and the shipment carton. Mailing and transportation costs are added to the price.
