Di Falco employed two zinc plates to create this one printed image, and the etching plates required three baths each in Nitric Acid. This etching was adapted from a photographic plate taken by the artist’s Great Grandfather in 1890 during a visit to London from Germany. He shot the scene while on a boat on the Thames River. The scene shows the London skyline draped in an early morning misty fog. A fishing boat is seen in the foreground, and many reflections drift throughout the design. The studio techniques of aquatint, intaglio, and drypoint were used in this edition. Each edition will be limited to only five etchings. Moreover, each of the four editions will be executed in different ink colors printed on varying brands of etching papers. I hand printed and published this edition at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA on July. The oil base ink I used was Charbonnel brand from Paris. The craft color paper for this edition was STONEHENGE brand, now made in the US. Each zinc etching plate measured 4 inches high by 6 inches wide, or 10.160cm by 15.240cm. The image size is 6 inches wide by 8 inches high, or 15.240cm by 20.320cm. The framed etching is 14 inches high by 11 inches wide. Shipment costs are added.
