Artwork Description:

The artists full title is, IMPRESSIONS OF A DREAM or THE BLACK ANNUNCIATION. The work was hand printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in mat selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, and the coast of the shipment box. Mailing costs are added. This image is based on the Northern Renaissance painting, oil on panel, by Gerard David. It was executed in 1505 and is in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City. This atypical etching uses a blend of French, black inks, oil based, on STONEHENGE black paper, and the visual results are both sensuous and hypnotic. If one meditates upon the Black Madonna long enough, a series of optical illusions and movements begin to appear in the work. I used the techniques of INTAGLIO and AQUATINT. The print size is 15 inches high by 11.25 inches wide. The plate size, also the size of the actual image, is 8 inches high by 6 inches wide. This is the first and only edition that will use black ink on black paper. I shall execute the last three editions between 2018 and 2019 using other same color ink and paper combinations. The reason for the wait involves the path that the moon will take in five years time.
