Artists Describing Their Art:
Rosemarie Stanford - ------------------------------------------------------------------- I love to play with light in my images. "I find nature, especially flowers, to be very sensual and I try to capture that sensuality in my work. I use only black backgrounds because,to me, black gives a dramatic and mysterious look to the work. I especially love the way black intensifies the beauty and gentleness of an orchid, flower or shell, yet at the same time, has a powerful feel. I enjoy working with nature. There is a tranquility in a garden that is so comforting. So come walk through my garden and let me share its beauty with you. I have begun exploring the intricacy of a shell formations. The shapes, color and patterns are amazing. You can view more of my work at www.fruitofmylabor.com Thank you for stopping by and viewing my work. ...
Maria Teresa Fernandes - Admiring Teresa's paintings we are touched by her pictorial sensitivity. Difficult task in light colors (volume and transparencies on a clear basis). Few do it due to the required dedication with pallete knife(no brush). It's painting consacrated by the love to paint. Debra Lennox - My latest work explores the vibrant use of pure colors & composition to express an intangible, surreal quality of a place. Light, color and form combine to push the figurative subject into the realm of dreams, capturing a moment in between the frenzied pace of modern life, when time slows and we become open to other, magical and spiritual influences on our lives. I am a painter in many mediums * watercolor, acrylic, & oils, and collage. I live in Comptche, California, and travel often for inspiration. I use my architectural degree as a designer and draftsman on the Mendocino Coast. I am a member at the Artists' Co-op of Mendocino, where I sell original works, laser prints and art cards. My work can be viewed at dblennox.com or artgallerymendocino.com...

Katja Liedle - Photography is a way of connecting with the world around me, capturing its more unusual nuances from a subjective point of view. This created a style which focuses on colors and forms and highlights tiny details thereby abstracting from everyday reality. focus * motto: close up * natural and other details * colors, forms, structures, patterns * abstractions * experiments with forced and cross processing ...
Nathalie Van - What's there to tell? I am a 28 year old Modern Abstract Style Artist. My favorite surfaces to paint on are gallery stretched canvas and canvas panels. I paint every day and hone my art skills. I am mostly self-taught (with the exception of some high school teaching plus watching my grandmother paint), and my education doesn't really have anything to do with art. I am an electrical engineer by degree, which gave me lots of patience, endurance, and the knowledge on how to build an autonomous robot! I've also done some creative freelance writing and earned some money that way. Now I get to do the fun stuff - paint all the time! My favorite things to paint right now are Asian-inspired art, martini's, abstract landscapes and other abstractions. I paint something new almost every day....
John Fields - Unfortunately most people cannot participate in my "Art". Not because they don't get to see the "end result", but because they miss the actual process of creating the work.... the end result is merely something nice to look at - or not. As paint moves from tube or jar to palette to brush to canvas, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones blare in my ears. Something jumps onto the canvas from my hands and at that moment something artistic is happening. As soon as I walk away from my work, the art stops..... When a painting is finished(?)so am I....until the brush and music start again. Enjoy my "end-products"... if you like. ...
James Parker - Painting, drawing, and to a lesser degree, photography, have been the driving creative force in my life for the past two years. The changing circumstances of life have allowed this to happen, and for this I am quite grateful. Pin and ink, liquid watercolors, acrylics, and the mixing of mediums are used for these works. My art is somewhere between reality and fantasy, with perhaps a unique style (as all are) which is slowly maturing. Much of my work I try to make light, colorful and fun, and even somewhat premitive with a touch of fantasy. Rustic little cabin scenes, and most seascapes perhaps show this best. Landscapes--mountains, trees, ocean and beach scenes, these are my favorite subjects. I prefer to work quite small. Most paintings and drawings come with wooden 11"X14" frames and hand selected colored mattes. These smaller sized works I have found to be excellent for creating pictures that are both colorful enough and detailed enough to carry an "impact". A few fine art's photographs taken back in the late eighties, some of which were published by a national calendar company in 1989 and 90 are also offered here. Those hundreds of hours looking ...
Tim Guider - Tims latest Protest Mural. To donate, search for - Tim Guider Artist Gofundme - to help fund more of Our Original Heroes Murals. Tim has collaborated with Aboriginal artist Frank Wright on this mural, and they want to create more of these murals in Sydney and in other cities and towns across Australia. Born with a natural talent for art, at age 22 years Tim decided to pursue a career as an artist. He studied at the National Art School, Sydney and received an Artists Development Grant from the Australia Council. He now has 45 years of professional artistic development to bring to his work. Since the mid 1980s his murals, canvas paintings and sculpture have attracted an enormous amount of television and press coverage both nationally and globally. A few image examples of Tims work are included in this portfolio which clearly show the wide range of materials and techniques this artist has mastered. He includes sculpture effects in murals. He has painted his sculptures and even uses internal illumination as well as mechanical movement in sculpture. Much of Tims artwork has a theme of multicultural Australia and our Aboriginal heritage. I have known Tim for over 30 years. I was ...
Lucy Arnold - To see more of my artwork, please visit my website at www.lucyarnold.com. I love color, and that is my primary tool of expression. Intense color is the one characteristic that all my artworks in numerous styles and media have in common. I use color in abstract pieces to show balance, transformation, and interaction of energies. These pieces are created in many layers. Something of each layer is allowed to show through to increase the sense of multiple dimensions. An internal vision or feeling may serve as my inspiration. A stray bit of nature such as a feather, leaf, or shell may also be the starting point of creativity. A simple object may ignite a powerful internal reaction as inner and outer nature meet. Whether the finished piece is a highly realistic depiction or completely abstract, I strive to imbue my art with a sense of the mystery, beauty, and sacredness I find in the world and universe. ...

Paula Durbin - Photography has always captured my spirit. It was only natural that my creative "release" be expressed through the same medium. But, because I am a unique spirit, it had to have other levels of creativity - the photo itself just wasn't enough. My first creative approach to photography was the use of the Polaroid transfer technique. My work consisted of subjects that are still close to me: animals and nature. The technique suited me well; it expresses the selected image seen and it allows me to further express its beauty with the softness of the technique. The watercolor paper used brings yet another dimension to the image. A search for the true expression in my photography led me to explore the techniques of the Fresson family of photographers. The Fresson technique, which culminates in the special care given the developmental process and the paper used, presented me the opportunity to express the richness of my photography. My work now moves beyond that 'moment' and presents a depth and richness perhaps not otherwise felt. I am honored to be a part of the Fresson family. There are only a limited number of artists with whom I share this honor. Having gone ...
