  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Karen Morecroft - My work is primarily based on my experiences of the city, including my travels through the US & Europe. Documentation is an important feature of my work as it is where I collect my source material, which is a key element to the images I create. My work relies on photographic and found imagery along with collected objects from many varied sources, including the mass media. Layering, repetition and opacity are key elements of of my work that strive to reflect a certain nostalgia....

Bukhina Maya - "The beauty of surrounding world has always inspired to creativity. I see and feel not only greatness of nature, but something that overflow me, causing the strongest and sincerest feelings that force me to create, to paint. My paintings are a mirror of my soul. They reflect need to transfer to canvas my thoughts, fantasies, mood and attitude to everything that surround me. I try as much as possible to transfer into paintings these artistic impulses and enthusiastic status, not to miss these moments, as next time something will change and something new will appear". ...

Luminita Gliga - My connections with the art are natural and real. I feel lucky that I chose art or art had chosen me in order to express. Thus, painted image is a form of communicating with people. Basically, as a professional artist, I am interested in everything that have direct relevance to contemporary life. My work explores a new world of shapes and colors in a personal composition. The essence of each painting is the connection between the subject matter and myself. My painting more concerns itself with the vague territory between abstraction and the known and seen world. Since I was a student at The Art University in Bucharest I got used to follow some steps from my paintings - a theoretical documentation, sketches and in the end starting the work. Apocalypse, Ephesus, Nestatornik, Autobiography in images, Terravision are some of my experiments of non-figurative paintings using the acrylics. ...

Oleg Sheludyakov - At the beginning of the creative life within several years I experimented with most various materials and technics: a water color and tempera, gouache and acrylic, a sculpture and ceramics. However as a result I have recognized that the traditional technics of oil painting completely answers to my temperament and allows to solve creative problems interesting to me most adequately. Since then the canvas and oil remain my favourite materials and every year I open in them more and more the latent opportunities. I do not get tired to admire with those plastic and color riches which is concealled in itself this classical art-technics. ...

Romy Galicia - Creating a fine art in any medium, style or genre is an expression of my inner self... chaotic yet exudes itself into some form of order and structure that is conforming to my outside self and the world I struggle to recreate. My ever-growing fascination of colors, shapes, lines, textures serve as the building block and foundation to recreate and reexamine order, solidity, movement and style that manifest itself into my ever-increasing and ever-evolving art portfolio. Photographic images of people, animals, places and man-made and/or natural objects and abstracts are filtered through my mind and become so vivid and real. When I am in a creative mood, I pick up a pen or ink, a brush, an oil or acrylic paint, a canvas and start to reconstruct the images into works of aunthentic fine arts. There is nothing more soothing and refreshing for me to see the final and tangible product ready to be hung and exhibited for the world to see. When people make constructive comments on my artworks, that in itself sufficiently serves as my motivation to create more. If you have some word of encouragement and/or praise, let me know. You ...

Christopher Brennan - My work typically uses rather barren urban landscapes and interiors as vehicles to portray an introspective and contemplative response to the mundane and commonplace. I put an emphasis on the drama of light and shadow, which serves partly to describe form, but which also becomes a metaphor for the passage of time and of our fleeting existence. Despite a somewhat believable look to the images, I work from a variety of sources, piecing together a range of imagery into a single work, and so the paintings become primarily invented and imagined. ...

Sabina Denisova Ara - I am accomplished young artist from Baku. Azerbaijan. I live in Sweden. I specialise in Graphics, Paintings, Collages and Sculptures. I began art as a young teenager. At the age of 23, I am deeply involved in Landscapes and Collages. I am a full-time artist, truly committed in a wonderful career. My unique style has received many commendations. I am a young member of "ART RAIN International Association"

Rolando Lambiase - Art in general, painting, is feeling & sensations rather than studies, styles & techniques. Any piece of art must convey soul & passion, beauty & everlasting pleasantness. Elite art does not quire convince me, nor do messy & abstruse paintings. Drawing is marginal, chromatic output essential. Land & sea scapes my favourite....

Durre Waseem - Durre Waseem of Corona, a native of Pakistan, has a Master of Fine Arts degree from Punjab University and taught for 10 years at various colleges in Pakistan. Durre moved to the United States in 2001 and became a full time painter. She paints portraits and plein air in oils, pastels, watercolor, ink, and acrylics and captures the local colour of both the people and the place of wherever she may be. Her bold, colorful brushwork and loose impressionistic style effectively capture the energy and feeling of her subject and establishes a direct line of communication with the viewer. Her inspiration is usually an ordinary object, how its identity is defined by its environment, and how it becomes apart of its surroundings. Durre has participated in many national and international exhibitions both in Pakistan and the U.S. ...

Bé Van Der Heide - Artist Statement I do work mostly in series. The images shown in my portfolio are examples of different series all executed over the last ten years. Some of the latest series such as "Dance of the transient forms" and "Collapse" have recently been exhibited in the Mas Poch Gallery in Spain. The most extensive series is called the "ENFANT TERRIBLE" series. These are drawings and paintings, mostly of a little girl and her family and friends. The rather menacing images of a seemingly helpless frightened little girl, being held tight or prettied up with bows in her hair, are inspired by photographs in my family album. In these drawings I am not interested in a photographic likeness, but I try to express a feeling about these people in the pictures. Part of the series were shown in the LCP Gallery in London during summer 2002 and in the Mas Poch Gallery in Spain November 2003. The series before "Enfant Terrible" is called: "WEBS", inspired by the sight of insects, leaves, dried up larvae; all caught in a Spiders web underneath a box on top of one of my work tables in the studio. They have been considerably enlarged; some paintings...
