  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Armineh Bakhtanians - I hold degrees in commercial art, design, and interior design from UCLA, Rio Hondo College and Mount. San Antonio college. Although my profession has been in the field of inerior design for many years, creating works of art in watercolor has been my passion. The world is full of colors, shapes, designs, and beauty, if we choose to see it. It keeps on moving to the rhythms of many sorts. As one observer of nature, and creator of art and beauty I am commited to telling stories in forms of shapes and images that have come to me through my herritage of centuries to the PRESENT MOMENT. My father was a great inspiration for me as a child, and led me to the wonderous world of art, and as an artist I am committed to the growth and change in my work just as it is innate in nature. Armineh...

Lynda Stevens - I see my creative path as being one with no absolute destination aEUR" the process of creation is as important to me as the result. In my work I often like to explore the tensions between chaos and form aEUR" and how chaos can break up stagnant forms into something more dynamic, or how form can bring beauty out of what was inchoate. Thus, sources of inspiration might include city encroaching on country and vice-versa, the dynamism of volcanoes, oceanic tides and so on. However, as the creative process for me mainly comes about via a process of psychic automatism, so that it is guided by an ebb and flow of subconscious impressions, both inner and outer landscapes tend to be superimposed upon each other in any given composition. My pieces may be layered, worked and reworked again, so that an inner alchemical process runs through as a theme in all my works. This means that each piece is further altered and refined into something very different from what it might have been in the first place. I have sometimes used materials that might otherwise be perceived as rubbish aEUR" glass crystals from broken carsbuildings, gypsum, melted polystyrene and so on. More ...

Dana Zivanovits - Dana Zivanovits was born in 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and received his art training from the Columbus College of Art and Design (1978 to 1982). After art school, he went abroad for a year and studied the art of the old masters in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Venice. Returning to his studio in Columbus to develop these influences into a new body of work, he then traveled to Mexico and studied the sculpture and painting of that country for an extended period. The unique and vivid colors of Palenque and Vera Cruz intensified his palette. After a period in Ohio, he then moved to Venice Beach, California where the brilliant light of the region reinforced his desire to capture effects of sunlight and atmosphere. Returning to Ohio in 1995, he has continued to paint themes deriving inspiration form sources such as world mythology, classic and B-grade cinema, literature and dreams. However his primary inspiration is direct observation from nature, versus an approach based in art theories or cultural critique. Dana has been widely represented by galleries and exhibition projects including Julie Rico and Mega Boom in Los Angeles, the Venice Art Detour, Around the Coyote Festival in Chicago ...

Bernhard Luettmer - The project is to create the image with a short composition as I wanted at times I took in here. Timing and movements of the camera or the machinery are important resources. Photography is listen to the world as we hear a beloved piece of music. For example: I see a tree just in vegetation, the wind gentle caresses the new leaves, the light shines and you hear all this on the skin. Now take a picture with the knowledge that this concentration and on the negative is something of the feeling....

Pegasus Gallery - The Gallery Pegasus The Gallery Pegasus was opened in 1989 by Vera Ennis and Pat Ramsay. This was the brainchild of a former General Manager of the Pegasus Hotel, who approached Pat Ramsay, who was then the Curator of the Mutual Life Gallery. From inception, the Gallery Pegasus has always promoted a standard of excellence worthy of its importance on the Jamaican Art scene. At all times we showcase the highest standard of Jamaican paintings and sculptures. The Gallery allows easy accessibility for both local and foreign artists to exhibit their works, as they seek to revolutionise the way forward in the arts. The Gallery continues to discover emerging Artists and promote established Artists. The Gallery Pegasus opened its doors with a cutting edge because of its ideal location. It is located in the lower lobby of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel which is one of the most popular Hotels in New Kingston. This of course naturally lends itself to more viewers and potential buyers, making us one of the preferred choices. ...

Ian Sheldon - Light and sense of place are key elements that inspire Ian Sheldon to paint. His subject is consequently varied, from the open spaces of his native prairie land, to the abandoned buildings of pioneer homesteads in the North American west, or the dramatic architecture of the cities where he has lived. Ian was born in Edmonton in 1971, and was brought up in South Africa, Singapore and England. While studying for his first degree (BA Hons) at Cambridge University, England, Ian began to paint the historical architecture of the city. Since 1994 galleries have exhibited this work, and in 1998, Cambridge Contemporary Art, the city's leading commercial gallery, accepted his watercolours. The City of Oxford, sharing a similar architectural heritage, has become a recent focus, and his work has been shown by Objet d'Art in Woodstock, England since 1996. Ian makes frequent trips to Britain to pursue his architectural passion. Ian is a self-taught artist, who believes that his true understanding of artistic self-expression will come best through his experimentation with various media over time. He believes that as he ages, the wisdom that he gains with experience will be powerfully reflected in his paintings. Ian ...

Zsuzsa Naszodi - The art of painting for me is a straightforward process of visual representation of my feelings in response to a given subject. Be it a human face, landscape, a still-life or a fleeting gesture of a scene in a cafe, they all serve as triggers for emotional movement which I try to translate into the language of line, shape and color. My fascination with the world of Art, started early in my childhood but it was only when I felt free of my obligations as a mother and a successful business woman, that I could devote myself entirely to development of my second career as an artist- painter. After few years of an arduous process of picking up the essentials of the painting techniques as well as visual thinking and color experimentation, I feel myself ready to exhibit my work and thus closing the creative cycle which begins usually with the initial sketches and exploration of the subject in which I am interested in any given time. I believe in inspiration and part of my process is concerned with achieving that blissful stage in the creative work when the technique doesn't occupy any conscious thought and flows smoothly...
