  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Jane Friday - Being able to create a piece of fine art, and having others enjoy its beauty, fills me with awe and wonder. Because we are all born with a desire to create, as an artist I not only wish to fulfill this birthright, but to open up to others this special gift of creativity we all share. Over the years I have had the rewarding experience of teaching fine art to children and adults. My realization is that every individual has their own interpretation of what constitutes a "work of art." With this in mind, I continue to strive to create the most visually appealing works of art I can produce - appealing not only to the eye, but also to the heart and soul. By competing against myself, I have found discipline and fulfillment in various art forms. References: Studied fine art at the Chicago Art Institute, Colorado Institute of Art, Art Students League of Denver, and in Boulder, Colorado under instructors Rick Stoner, Frank Covino and Joseph Munnoni. ...

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Armand Cabrera - My goal as an artist is to convey the joy and awe I feel when witnessing the beauty of the world we inhabit. I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I paint everyday because it is what I love to do. Painting is the most fulfilling work I've ever found. I am dedicated to strive, at all times, to be the best artist I can be and to paint for as long as I am capable. Alla prima painting presents the challenge to record my immediate experience of the land. The subject can be as simple as a willow branch touching a stream or as grand as a sunset in the Rocky Mountains. Painting from life is extremely rewarding to me as an artist. I find it the most honest form of painting. Standing with an easel before the land---that's when all the years of practice come into play--- the discipline to record the fleeting moment on canvas before it disappears forever. Always remember that the land supports us---that we are part of it--- connected to the earth in ways we can't fully understand. We must be ever diligent...

Animesh Roy - "I don't pretend that I paint because I want to say something or convey a message. So, please don't read any hidden meanings into my paintings. I paint because I like to portray the happier side of life -- beautiful landscapes, for example -- because I think that there are enough artists painting the morbid side." "I love to travel because that's where the so-called inspiration comes, so I hope to travel more, paint and be generally happy." -- Excerpt from an interview....

Lisa Reinke - Recognize yourself, someone, everyone and no one in my faces - celebrate color in the shape of a nose, the curve of the ears, the mask of the eyes, and the lines of the lips and hair. Most of all remember the humanity in humanity. The human face inspires me. As humans, we respond to its image beyond all others. For all its familiarity, we rarely pause to consider the face as a visual form, something more than the recognition of a friend or an interaction with a stranger. I paint the face in ways to cause the viewer to reconsider its splendor and renew faith in all things human. Colors and sunlight playing across faces remind me of our connection to the universe and symbolize eternal and fleeting moments simultaneously. I love how we recognize and explore human faces for clues to identity and personality. I am happy to be creating my work and hope that my art inspires you to look around and see the world as a vibrant and exciting place where the most amazing patterns are on display all the time. Lisa Reinke ...

Simon Blackwood - About the paintings of Simon Blackwood The property of beauty is to shine. Its' light extends infinitely both inwardly and outwardly. It is both overwhelming and inspiring and whatever it illuminates is consumed as it is also created by it. In short, beauty is not partial. I have chosen to follow a spiritual orientation toward all things I do. The road and the destination in this journey is the love of beauty. (A statement inspired by the writings of Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi and Jelaleddin Rumi.) Painting is a metamorphosis from base elements into an image of another reality beyond those original elements. It can allude to sublime ideals through subject matter or by the means of the juxtaposition of colour, shape and form. At best it reveals the highest aspirations of man striving to praise the gift of intelligence, love of beauty and life itself. Paintings can recall or remind us by illusory means; they may also point towards something beyond the material object of the 'tableau' hanging on a wall. The paintings represented here also attempt, without abstraction, to point beyond the subject matter, alluding to the hidden, in the world of man, that gives rise to his creativity. ...

Gurdas Dua Fiipc Fbaf Hon.apasp - Pictorial is mother of all branches of Photography. So I always have a Pictorial approach towards my subject. When I select my subject matter, my priorities are- 1. Originality of the subject matter. 2. Interest in the subject matter. 3. Composition including lighting on subject. 4. Technique of taking Photograph. 5. Presentation. My Interests are in the field of- Landscapes, Still life, Children, Portraits, Nature, floral and especially Human Interest Photography. My Profession is Advertising & Industrial Photography. I strongly feel that just clicking the shot do not make anybody a photographer, but if one does all the processes like film developing, print making and print finishing or Digital Photo Finishing himself / herself then he or she can be called a photographer. That is the reason I do all the processes myself in mediums like Black & white, Color Negative, Color Positives and Digital etc. ...

Mima Stajkovic - The world I live in today is filled with the most amazing secrets. Personal secrets that cannot be told, those little thoughts that shape your personality and intimacy. Every secret have reason, every reason have shape, influence and interaction. My goal is to recognize each of them with the respect that they deserve. Bringing them to light in full color, making them touchable and visible, I get better understanding of individuals, their apprehension and shame, their desire and potential. While working on a painting over weeks, sometimes months, I found that acrylic on canvas give me the best opportunity to quickly catch my thoughts. Starting with real world and images I continue to explore with symbols and colors emphasizing my impression. The finished work may not resemble the original idea but I always get to know something new during this enjoyable process. In the latest series of paintings I am playing with women's emotions, her fears and wishes developing relations with other people. When people see my work, I'd like them to feel my thoughts and get chance to agree or not with me, but in any way to think about motives that every woman has developing emotional ...

Michael Easton - My nature photography reflects a personal vision of the spirituality of the land. Photographing nature primarily in British Columbia is a way of life that translates the passion for this land into a shared experience of imagery through the medium of the fine print. The challenge when finding an image in nature that is of particularly interest is to pare down the extraneous bits to the essential elements that is the essence of the emotional/spiritual experience. The textural and design elements of the image are the key to the mind's appreciation of the congruency of nature within an apparent chaotic framework. Black and white aids the mind in this process without the distraction of other colours. My motivation in showing this work is to help people develop a stronger bond with nature and by extension a greater interest and concern for preserving the many unique ecosystems of the world....

Veronica Shimanovskaya - Shimanovskaya's work is concerned with the interplay of materials, shapes and colours orchestrated into harmonies informed by personal experiences. Aspiring to simultaneously explore the poetry and semantics of the visible world, she is convinced that the the viewer will make his or her own connections. ...
