Artists Describing Their Art:
Roberto Trigas - Art has been practiced by humans since thousands of years ago; we have remaining samples of paintings in caves and walls, stone carvings and many objects. The main characteristic of Art as opposed to the manufacture of everyday objects is that, were those have a definite USEFUL purpose, Art doesn`t seem to. I`ll explain.Making a tool to obtain food is an obvious useful activity. Spending a great deal of time and effort in "decorating" that tool doesn`t seem to have an obvious purpose. And yet, humans have been doing so for thousands of years. Why? Probably we shall never know. But there is something inherent in human beings that make us do so.There is magic in creating, in transforming a piece of clay into a "thing" that resembles something else, in spreading paint over a stone wall and making images appear, images that other members of the tribe recognise and relate to. That is why I paint. Because painting appeals to the magic unknown of human nature. In European Art, mainly since the Renaissance (XV c. onwards), Artists strived to attain a representation of the visual reality as close to an optical view as possible; ...
Alexey Chernigin - Painting is a journey on the borderline of light and shade, between transparent and inner thoughts, grand and giddy, logic and unreasoned. Painting is a hankering for expression of something via wordless means. Long ago Plato insisted that true artist has to keep silence. The feature of painting is in its dual condition ambition to express something and determination to keep silence. ThataEURtms why painting starts to perform its communicative function when abilities of language are exhausted. ItaEURtms like a tight spring ready to break through the silence to call for perception of inexpressible. Suddenness that happens when work appears to our vision makes painting the most secret form of the art. The facility of work perception admits no any efforts of an audience. Painting consists of essential contrarieties between obvious- image and lurking aEUR" the mean of image. We shall expect no spontaneous understanding of imageaEURtms idea. The charm of painting is in its ability to be impenetrable and everlasting hieroglyph. Painting is expression of inexpressible, when deep-hidden things break through fade reality making simple things become great ones. Steve Meyerholz - I should have never became an artist. For years my attempts at writing graffiti were ridiculed my work laughed at and dismissed as garbage. I have been fascinated with art since I first saw graffiti. I never gave up and practiced daily until a style emerged. Graffiti has opened my mind to other art forms. I currently paint canvasses and murals and draw portraits with various media. I have also been a tattooist for 2 decades. I get my inspiration from the way Im feeling at that particular moment. I try to incorporate things I see or experience on a regular basis whenever possible while Im producing a piece of art. I will never stop creating and always try learning new techniques. I was determined to be an artist and it has led me here. Lets see what the future holds. I am always interested in collaborating with other artists to see what kind of creative chemistry can be discovered. ...
