Barry Greff - ARTIST STATEMENTS Atmosphere Ethereal Sea and Landscapes In a time of great challenge throughout our world, I seek to capture, and foster preservation of, the spectacular natural beauty that still exists on Earth. Each of my photographs stands alone as a testament to the astonishing visual feast that remains on our planet for those willing to seek it out. My sea and landscape images focus on capturing transitory conditions of light and atmosphere as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of life itself. These images memorialize a moment in timeaEUR| never to be repeated. I am drawn to these theatrical moments when elements collide to form moody, ethereal, and dramatic scenes. Christopher Hughes - After leaving Swansea University, I joined the famous Royal Worcester Porcelain Company as a ceramic artist. After my apprenticeship, I painted their most prestigious vases and plaques. I was mentored and trained by the legendary Worcester artist, Jack Freeman. I left in 1980 to pursue a freelance career. I have sold my Handpainted china, watercolours, oils and signed prints, throughout the world for over 40 years. It has been a rollercoaster ride, but an amazing way to earn a living. We have travelled extensively, painting and teaching in the UK and Europe. We had an amazing house built on the incredible Greek island of Alonissos., where I first took painting holidays in 1985. In an ancient olive grove overlooking the Aegean, we created a wonderful garden with an outdoor studio. I taught watercolour painting from the island , as well as mainland Greece and Italy. With grandchildren arriving, we sold our Greek house and settled back near Worcester, in Upton upon Severn and the Malvern Hills. I paint in my new garden studio, fire my porcelain and display all my work. Our garden here has olive trees, oleander ,geraniums and lots of old Greek terracotta pots aEUR|.. just to make us feel ...
Olaniyi Akindiya - My works focus on moments. Time, present in seconds and minutes, can only be preserved through documentation, as memory is fleeting and easily forgotten or transformed. My work is often marked by an exploration of rural versus urban life, namely the accelerated pace of development and social infrastructure. I produce works which explore the personal and the universal, which investigate the invisible systems of power that govern everyday existence, and which instigate debate among viewers without conventional ink on paper. My works address social issues. I work with a multitude of techniques and materials. The result of which may be mixed media painting, sculpture, installation, video, photography, sound, or performance. Found objects that relate to a particular society or community are central in my work. They may be woven, sewn, glued, welded, nailed, collages, cast, or carved. They may be mounted on canvas as 2D mixed media painting, or used as sculptural 3D work. My works invoke touch and tempt viewers to forget how to move their feet. I am always trying new things, experimenting, and challenging myself with new techniques, ideas and materials to interact with people. I have dedicated my life as an interdisciplinary artist to easing pain ...
