Artists Describing Their Art:
Pinheiro De Santamaria - "...Ever since I was a child, I have had the tendency to create a fictitious world around me, to surround myself with friends and acquaintances who never existed. ( I don't know, of course, if they didn't really exist or if it is me who doesn't exist. On such matters, as in all others, one shouldn't be dogmatic.) Ever since I became aware of the thing that I call self, I can remember with mental precision, the figures, the movements, the character and the history of several fictitious people who were, to me, as visible and mine as those things which we, perhaps abusively, call real life. This tendency, which exists since I realized that I was a self, has always been with me, modifying slightly the kind of music it uses to bewitch me but never altering its manner of bewitching." There's no need to explain something which, by its nature, is simple and intuitively understandable. It happens, however, that human stupidity is great while human kindness is not worthy of note. ...
Leonard Parker - Dr. Leonard W. Parker's artistic style lends realism to his landscapes and seascapes by viewing both from a distance or up close! As a university professor, he has grasped the techniques of oil painting from his own personal research and study. His works have been displayed locally, but his desire is to gain wider notariety. Parker has adopted the phrase "'Scapes in oil" to tell both buyers and sellers that his greatest love is representing as real as possible God's wonderful world in which we live! One would desire to display his landscapes and seascapes in a variety of settings. Dr. Parker also has had commissioned art from photographs. Buyers of his artwork have come to cherish their original oil painting on canvas as heirlooms. ...

Carol Brown - My love of art and passion for life has driven me to express myself artistically ever since I was a small child. I love the beauty around me. I see objects that create designs, lines that continually flow from one object to the next, textures, colors, contrasting shades and interesting shapes. Fabric has so many of these qualities that the idea of seeking out and working with fabric has become a full time adventure. For each picture the fabrics is chosen based on how well it fits my vision and mood of the picture. This process of overlaying, cutting, and placing the fabric is known as free style applique or fabric collage. Using these techniques and machine stitching, I am able to create a picture that has the feeling of a painting....
Heather Rippert - As a painter, I am interested in touching the viewer's spirit in a deep, long, and sensitive way. My desire to take the viewer on a transcendent trip to a place of peace, serenity and joy is the backbone of my paintings. My passion for paper runs deep. I absolutely love working on paper surfaces. Discovering new paper and what its unique characteristics are and how it responds to watercolor or pastel, my two primary mediums, is a favorite pastime for me. Captivated by the diversity of seascapes, from calm soothing surf to stormy seas, I bring the elements together in my watercolors and pastels using strong contrast of darks and lights. My fascination with shadows in the sand is always both a challenge and joy in my process of painting and working the paint to get just the right shade and just the right shape to tantalize the viewer and welcome them into my private world. ...
