Artists Describing Their Art:
Nancy Wood - I received B.A. and MFA degrees in Fine Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Ph.D. degree in Educational Psychology from Texas A & M University, College Station. Trained in oil painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography I've spent the last 15 years working with digital media. My artworks have been exhibited locally, nationally and internationally, received some awards and are included in private and corporate collections. I've taught art on the college level for 20 years. My current work is a synthesis of photography and digital painting, an artistic process that explores issues of formalism using the aesthetics of the Texas Hill Country. The resulting images invite the viewer to engage intimately with a dynamic moment in the environmental milieu. More of my work can be seen on my website:
Anita Kovacevic - Artists statement My whole concept and approach to art is simple just as my philosophy of mind is. Im inspired by the simplest and quieter side of life, and enjoy peaceful natural escapes. My images reflect my inner vision and my floating between memories and dreams. They are simplified into a quiet and poetic understanding of life and, most of the time, displacement of species, including humans. In some of my photographs there is a certain air of sadness. My images are poetic, ethereal and sometimes mystic. I photograph from inside out. I rely on natural or minimal lighting to produce a candid style of photography. I try to lead the viewer through my visual creations on a journey of self-discovery. Im striving for beauty at its simplest. My photography is a visual poetry with a soft breath of nostalgia. Elena Zhogina - I am a self taught artist in love with what I do. I love research into form, color, texture, styles and fantasies. I am a self-made artist. In contrast to classical school of painting I use intuition and feelings to express myself. For me the world of painting allows to find my own way of self-expression and reveal my true personality. Some paintings start from one idea but with time discover to me new things. They bring harmony and happiness into my life. I am focused on drawing/painting portraits/people and various types/styles of motion. There are several symbolism works in my portofolio describing certain period of my life and my reflections thereon. Its a pleasure to share it with you ...
Kees Van Eyck - My works of art express a metarealistic perception of our world, traditional in the history of Dutch painting. However, the source of my inspiration can also be found in European surrealism as well in American hyper-, and photo realism. In my collection Portraits of Icons of the post-war period of the 20th century I introduced the iconography of our era. These images of celebrities characterise movie-stars, media personalities plus inspirational individuals from the field of music, art, politics and philosophy. With these portraits I pay tribute to famous people with extraordinary gifts and talents, who influenced the development of mankind and left their mark on various fields during the 20th century. My perception of life on Earth is often depicted in a surrealistic manner. My attitude towards our environment is charged with criticism as well as hope for a better future. My paintings aspire to evoke the sense of beauty and to raise awareness of burning issues in todays world....
Timothy Oleary - As a photographer specializing in the digital format I seek to move from the more traditional nude to finding out the true beauty in the form by subtracting to the absolute essence of the image were the true beauty of the female form is for me. This work starts from the camera and the studio and evolves into a new form of art, niether computer art, or photography, but a marriage of both....
