  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my art and acts as a vital element in my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as from the images I find from my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, and museums. Upon locating a documented scene I wish to etch, my first step involves the execution of two to five original drawings of the photograph. My collaboration between photography and printmaking allows me the independence to integrate my personal interpretations into the scene. Moreover, I create bridges between the physical and metaphysical visual realities in the same way that a camera intersects with human creativity . . . the nexus between the mechanical and the cerebral art tools. Art unveils everything that we mask behind our belief systems conversely, I strive in my creations to clarify those phenomena we overlook as a result of our egocentric assumptions. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice things, a process I label, the phenomenology of connectedness, on todayaEURtms very infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies of social media. My artworks therefore become like windows through which to examine the mysteries of aEURoeeveryday consciousnessaEUR. In fact, my use of ...

Cheryl Hrudka - My main goal is to allow the viewer to become intimate with my images, to make his her interpretation of what they are seeing a personal journey of their own. NOTE The vast majority of my pieces are available in various sizes and may be printed on either archival papers or on metal. Should you see one you like, but desire a larger or smaller size, please email me for available sizes and prices. ...

Dora Martinez - The fusion between imagination and technology summarizes the message in my work. Nature, city life and fashion are the sources of inspiration, The goal is to turn the simple details into new visual dimensions of light and color and to discover the infinite possibilities within an image. Through the years I accumulated a vast collection of photographs taken during my trips to Asia, Europe, North America and Central America. In 2002 the discovery process was initiated. Using the computer as the medium, I began experimenting with Adobe Photoshop, taking images to the extreme through digital manipulation. As for the present, I continue to find life and nature's uncontainable movement to be the creative platform in all my work. ...

    C. A. Hoffman - For me, my artwork is very personal. It reflects a lot about how I am feeling at any given time and place. I feel that art has to be on this personal level to completely capture how the artist is feeling daily, or trying to convey a certain thought or emotion at that particular moment. We all, at one time or another try to express our thoughts or ideas, whether it is to others or just to ourselves, by words, actions, ideas or pictures. If we are sucessful in this attempt, I think it shows through in our everyday work or art. I believe that one is either born to create art naturally or by learning. For me, I feel that I was born with this wonderful gift, and I try to improve upon it every day. In my photos and art, I hope to show how everyday objects and nature can capture our imaginations and feelings. Sometimes I work with an image to improve it, inhance it, or just to fuel the imagination. I truly hope this shows in all of my art. ...

Isaac Brown - ISAAC S. BROWN As his day job Isaac is president and CEO of Baltic Street AEH Inc. A non-for profit agency that helps people coping with mental health issues deal with advocacy, employment and housing based in New York city. Mr. Brown has been painting for over 35 years. This self-taught artist has been previously employed in a variety of jobs including lumberjack, diamond cutter, welder and sergeant in the Israeli Defense Forces. It was during his time in the IDF as a young sergeant during periods of down time that he first picked up a brush and paints to begin to express his artistic creativity. Later in between maneuvers, during his time in the first Lebanese War, he began experimenting with whatever materials were available to a young soldier, creating sculptures and roadside art along the way from one camp to another as a release from the daily pressures and responsibly of caring for his fellow soldiers. After leaving the army he traveled the world extensively continuing painting and sculpting along the way. He spent a considerable time amount living in Europe and thus bringing to his art a unique worldwide perspective. His artwork reflects the passion...

Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Van De Ven - Registration Netherlands Institute for Art History RKD 473520 Painter and graphic artist, fiction writer. Graduated at University of Amsterdam. Quit work as journalist at a national newspaper in 2000 to become fulltime painter and writer. Initially watercolor, linocut and monotype of etching ground on glass. Changed to digital raster painting in 2004. Proceeded through a combination of raster-vector to vector around 2013. Lorenzo Award for digital painting at the 2015 Florence Biennale, several other awards. Author of Digital painting explained and illustrated, 2013-2019, an online source of information on digital painting. Encounters of the heart mind The latest abstract vector works, Particles and Volatiles, are the clearest representations of my lifelong effort to let the mind liberate the heart. I create contrasts. Round and angular, light and dark, concave and convex - there are many. With that I start shifting and turning, enlarging, reducing, eliminating, adding, grouping, loosening, changing color, etc. If I change something in one place the rest usually topples over and everything has to be redone. Ultimately, every action serves the contrast between hard and angular, which symbolizes reason, and soft and round, symbolizing emotion. Aspects like color, placement, size, form, rithm, all play a role. ...
