Artists Describing Their Art:
Martin Montez - Well...I'm self taught. I let my native american and native earthling experiences influence my work. I don't believe there are mistakes in art. Anything created by a person is insight into however crazy, skewed or thoughtful a persons being is. Embrace it all. I believe if we as humans could learn to appreciate other humans artwork, even if we don't like it, we could learn to appreciate each other AS humans and not; black, white, mexican, iranian, scott etc...our differences are only our clothes and experiences. We were made by God. If we're good enough for him, we ought to be good enough for each other. This earth has two things it'll be known for when it's all over. Art, like music and visual arts....and the fact we kill each other instead of help each other. Let's focus more on ART!...
Claire Petit - In my work, beings of dream and intimacy migrate slowly to the merry-go-round of birth, death, and rebrith. Different periods and series rub shoulders in my decades of paintings. In 2004 my work was represented and exhibited at the Grant Gallery. In 2005 I left for Mexico, where I maintained a studio for three months in Oaxaca. From 2005 to 2010, my work was represented and exhibited by the Opera Gallery in New York City. During those years I regularly painted in New York. Dora Martinez - The fusion between imagination and technology summarizes the message in my work. Nature, city life and fashion are the sources of inspiration, The goal is to turn the simple details into new visual dimensions of light and color and to discover the infinite possibilities within an image. Through the years I accumulated a vast collection of photographs taken during my trips to Asia, Europe, North America and Central America. In 2002 the discovery process was initiated. Using the computer as the medium, I began experimenting with Adobe Photoshop, taking images to the extreme through digital manipulation. As for the present, I continue to find life and nature's uncontainable movement to be the creative platform in all my work. ...
Robert Reinhardt - Artist Statement My camera lens explores the inspiring and sensitive interconnections between the temporal elements of time and history and their relationship to the changing environment. Several photographic software programs are employed to recreate the original landscape photograph to manipulate the original design of these images. It is the careful observer that begins to discover the delicate objects and surfaces that lie hidden amidst the many layers of images all packaged into one final piece. My intention is to subject the original images to the ravages of time. The rich patinas and the weather worn surfaces magnetically draw me in as I return each image. The images that I chose to include document a specific theme of aEURoeEnd of DaysaEUR. The newly constructed images bring to life a strength that lives on in these landscapes. They seem almost indifferent to the elements that continue to wear at their surfaces and challenge their structural integrity. At the same time, nature is painting an entirely new palette in which they will exist. It is the collision and contrast of that ongoing confrontation that draws me into these landscapes.
