Memories was inspired by a long forgotten happy childhood memory that was thrust to the front of my mind as a result of a trigger. I am aware of the enormous capacity of the human brain,but i was still suprised by a memory that was over 50yrs old springing into current thought from the depth of my mind. This modern geometric art piece uses a series of triangular shapes to represent memories from conception to distant memories at the back of our minds. This artwork presents current experiences and memories at the forefront of our minds as groups of triangles which form pyramids. The three dimensional effect that this gives suggests there prominence in the mind in a snapshot of time Memories that we would we would rather forget,such as embarrassing moments are shown as been locked away within a triangle. Larger Triangles depict recent experiences and their accompanying thoughts and feelings as well as memories. The smaller triangular represent those memories that have faded with the passage of time which can stay there which may remain there or can emerge in to current thought. This monochrome indoor mosaic has a substrate of multi bonded bonded plywood,with integral hanging fittings the image is constructed with hand cut white and grey gloss ceramic tiles with contrasting black grout. The piece is finished with a matt black wooden frame.
