  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Kees Van Eyck - My works of art express a metarealistic perception of our world, traditional in the history of Dutch painting. However, the source of my inspiration can also be found in European surrealism as well in American hyper-, and photo realism. In my collection Portraits of Icons of the post-war period of the 20th century I introduced the iconography of our era. These images of celebrities characterise movie-stars, media personalities plus inspirational individuals from the field of music, art, politics and philosophy. With these portraits I pay tribute to famous people with extraordinary gifts and talents, who influenced the development of mankind and left their mark on various fields during the 20th century. My perception of life on Earth is often depicted in a surrealistic manner. My attitude towards our environment is charged with criticism as well as hope for a better future. My paintings aspire to evoke the sense of beauty and to raise awareness of burning issues in todays world....

Tara Hutton - My passion for the glamorous Art Deco era of the 1920's & 1930's is reflected in all my artwork. Therefore when you view my artwork you will see definitive lines and geometric shapes. My favorite medium is acrylic. My favorite art period is Art Deco but lately I have been venturing into next era, often referred to as Mid-Century Modern. My love for Architecture and Design is equal to the love I have for Fine Art. I am most attracted to people that are connected to or passionate about the arts. If my arwork pleases you I will be pleased, send me an e-mail, I answer all my art e-mail! Thank you for taking the time to view my Absolute Arts Portfolio. ...

Cathy Savels - Nature as art, in absolute detail. A never ending paradox that tears me from reality. Everything has a spirit, a voice that needs to be listened to. Creativity is my passion. This was the journey of my childhood, as I watched my father create wonderful furniture in wood and observed my mother sewing beautiful garments with fabrics. When I search for inspiration, I look over the vineyards surrounding my studio in south-west France and ideas engulf me. Dreams evolve into reality, midnight sketches become my driving force. Before my canvas, I see the world through a lens. I'm interested in what escapes me. ...

Elizabeth Chapman - Working as an abstract expressionist artist, I believe that the process of creating is much like the flow of life. For me the first mark, undercoating or brushstroke in a painting is often the hardest. From these first beginnings a dialogue is opened up in which I as the artist am compelled to find and follow the flow of the painting in a highly intuitive manner. Color and movement play a major role in my work, as do line and texture. There is much experimentation, exploring, discoveries of new avenues of expression and at best a child like playfulness. When all the elements come together in unison, the completion of the painting emerges bringing with it a quality of expression that has a life of it's own and is unique. "It brings me much joy just to be the brush in the Master Painter's hand and to realize that His creations are made to bring great joy to all. My paintings are a form of song, dance and praise in response to the beauty of life." -Elizabeth...

Kimmie Hamm - Everywhere you dream to go can become a part of you and everywhere you have been is a part of you. I am an explorer and optimist at heart, so when I set out to create something one word always comes to mind: Possibilities I feel that through art I can explore the visions in my mind, everything from a small flower or blade of grass to distant worlds filled with whimsy and thoughts of what ifaEUR|aEUR|. Culturally I have two aspects that influence me one being my Native American ancestry and the other my German immigrant ancestry. I am deeply rooted in the beauty and wonderment of nature. My wise grandmother told me if you have strong roots your sprit can fly anywhere and still return home. That saying has always stuck with me and in many ways sparked my imagination. The explorer in me must come from my immigrant ancestry. My great grandfatheraEURtms family traveled to America on a steam ship in 1874. I can imagine them traveling for what must have seemed like an eternity. I often contemplate what they must have been thinking, and try to express the excitement of the unknown and the anticipation ...

Susan Cantor-Uccelleti - My Statement as an artist and what art means to me and effects my life aEURoeArt Heals Body and SoulaEUR Abstract Expressionism gives me the freedom to express my inner feelings and also how I see the world around me through color and movement. My paintings are my life on canvas which I hope to be able to share so others can see the beauty and the wonders around us. This gives me purpose to go on, to be able to create is to live. Painting has always been part of life, in my early years I painted what I was able to see, but now I paint my emotions. My life, as everyone, has had its ups and downs. Each of my paintings represent my moods and situations around me. When you first look at my art, you will see colors, but as you back up and study each painting, you will see something different. Each piece of my artwork has some part of me which I gratefully want to pass on to you. My work is all original, there are no copies or prints, each one of a kind. When I paint, I think colors, movement and balance, ...

Mary Hatch - Mary Hatch has had a strong interest in art beginning painting and art classes when she was twelve, and visiting the Dallas Museum of Art, and A The Chicago Art Institute regularly made an impression on her style by seeing famous paintings. In the late 70s, she participated in multiple gallery art shows, university exhibits and Dallas WomanaEURtms Caucus of Art and Texas Visual Artist competitions. In the mid 80aEURtms she attended an Adams Middleton Gallery, Dallas, TX, art show for the abstract expressionist, Herbert Ferber, at his art exhibition. His vast canvases with sculptured facade inspired her to paint large. In the 90's, the New Mexico Series was inspired by the Southwest and multiple trips to Santa Fe, NM.
