Alex Jobbagy - "Being both a formally and a self educated artist, I have always been interested in social/political issues as the major forces that shape our life, and their effect on the average person's struggle to survive and rise. I had my first solo exhibition at the age of 13. Inspired by the surrealist movement and Salvador Dali, my artistic style of expression is surrealism and symbolism. I am continuously experimenting with different mediums but my favourite remains oil on canvas. As an artist, I feel that it is my duty to reveal the contrast between the harmonious relationship of the individual with nature, as opposed, to the man-made, often artificial, connections developed in the modern society. While my artworks speak for themselves, I want to present these issues from a different, unique angle, hoping to stop viewers and encourage them to think." Visit my blog at:
John Tierney - The paintings I make are charts of wanderings; what I mean by that is: you can wander around a painting and have, at least sometimes, a feeling of recognition of the place where you are. But the place can shift into a new location, you lose your bearings and then find yourself by intuition. You don't know how you got there, but you know where you are. There are well-beaten tracks and waymarkings that appear familiar. When I set off on a new canvas, white, pristine, in the morning, I often think why should I want to mess this up? It's like an empty mirror, but when the first few marks are made, it changes. It has direction, it begins to beckon you. Making the decision to start is the important thing, it doesn't seem to matter what you do. Disparate things can be united, related somehow. Dialogue begins. You're conscious of what is going on in one direction, but a lot is happening along the wayside. Contrasts are important: for example, organic versus geometric. Organic forms arise from memory. There is the energy of the life form against the rectangle of geometric space. Color...
Pawan Sharma - Personification of thought impregnated into the womb of Human Psychology. The subject which I have selected is mainly based on human behavior or one can say Rasas of Life, their generation and projection. The generation in human through cultural, personal and environmental influences, which I want to project in my painting and Drawings by incorporating living and non living materialistic objects to depict virtual beauty. My few works are done on the same subject and I wanted to proceed in this path further. The process required communication with different people of different areas, their social and cultural presentation, relation with surrounding, behaviour communication Body Language. By modifying their gestural language feelings into more immaculate thoughts by giving them visual effect through my colour, canvas and brushes. It is an interesting method to present something which is intangible transformed into tangible form. Now which is perceptive in form, converted into commonly seen things in surroundings and further more interesting is to relate two different things on some idea. My work need continue development form beginning till end. It has own modified routes, meander, curves and bends, can be found in course of journey. Thank you. Pawan Kumar Sharma ...
James Simpson - Howdy! Sandpainting is an Ancient Art known across the Globe. My introduction to the Art was through contact with the Dine` of the Southwest United States. I met Joe Ben Jr. in Northern New Mexico in 1984 and was Honored to assist him in searching for pigments to complete a group of Sandpaintings for the Indian Fair in Santa Fe. Along the way, i picked up the essentials of Sandpainting and found my niche in this very traditional Art. My Paintings do not reflect the Way of the Navajo, but do use Southwest Themes and utilise various Gems and Minerals which are collected by Hand....
Stuart Ellis - The inspiration for my work is all around us, the light, mood and atmosphere of the landscape. Music is also another great inspirer, from Bach to Hendrix, all creating a mood that is expressed through my work. A reflection in water, a shaft of light, how I am feeling at a particular moment are translated through colour and movement onto the canvas. In some of my work there is a serene calm in others a threatening storm, these are drawn from what I have seen or emotions I have experienced, never knowing which direction the work will take until pencil connects with paper or brush hits the canvas. ...
Anne Schwartz - My newest collections, entitled Zoom and A Journey Through Infinity, reflect my artistic exploration of the infinite cosmic history. I am known for pushing my palette of vibrant, and often translucent, colors to the limit, drawing out the vivid hues of nature. My paintings draw upon the earth's energy in a dangerous and imaginative drama. The paintings launch the viewer from under the earth's surface into the solar system and beyond. I explore my own consciousness to create a kind of landscape of energy and emotions. One color plays on the last, changing and twisting to form the contrasts of light and dark. Bright colors burst forth against the dark background, sending the viewer into a dazzling world of exploding stars, swirling gas planets, and our own earth. My collection A Journey to Infinity is oil on canvas. My collection Zoom is mixed media on canvas and paper. I am located in Pacific Palisades, California, and work in oil, collage and other forms of mixed media. Artist Bio Anne Brawer Schwartz has exhibited her mixed media paintings in numerous group shows throughout Los Angeles County. In 2010, her work was published in the coffee table book "Santa Monica," ...
