  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Kamal Bhandari - I am a contemporary realist painter based in India. I did three year diploma in Drawing and painting from Kumar College of Fine arts, Ludhiana under the supervision of Director and Senior faculty Mr.Raaz Thakur. Just back after attending Summer 2011 intensive workshop by Florence Academy of Art at Gothenburg Sweden. The instructors were Andreas Birath, Stephen Bauman and Cornelia Hernes, all my favourites. I have a strong desire study under Ted Seth Jacobs, Daniel Graves, John Angel, Jeremy Lipking, Morgan Weistling, Steve Hanks, Anthony Ryder and Jacob Collins. ...

Sampat Nayakawadi - I have been born & brought up in a village. The artist in me took shape in rural surroundings. Many sacraments of village are imbibed on my mind. I observed many changes taking place in villages. The impressions are still fresh in my mind. The smell of the soil enthralls me. Like nature, the innocent, tranquil & straight Forward rustics appear natural. They are one with nature. They never appear to me different. To interpret their oneness with nature. I selected the common man from the common village. This common man is the central and golden point in my painting. This common is so one with nature that I only sees the outward appearance of him. Many colors are visible in the village. However I specially see the red color. I am impressed by tiles of the houses; walls, red dust spreading in the atmosphere, gray, mossy and white soiled walls. Nestled among the small hills and mounds, the scattered village houses catch my attention. The shape emanating from these houses imbibe on my mind. The sparking light on water during moonlight night, the dark of in the morning & in the evening create mystery. Such sights hide deep into the inner mind, ...

Brian Josselyn - ' I use thick, rich paint to translate the beauty, and excitment of a moment into a lusious vision. The scultural presence of thick paint tempts you to touch it with it's seductive tactile appeal. . Dramitic lightin futher abstracts familar imagery creating a new provocitive view.' ...

Suzanne Jacquot - Painting is a physically expressive act. Opening to the moment, the materials, the process takes complete awareness and willingness to do what it takes. An intricate and delicate balance between decision making and inituition, freedom and constraints. This allows a full-blown image to come to life. My intention is to continually overcome my personal limitations and expand my awareness of materials, self and the creative process. What attracts me is color, energy and materials. How all these parts interact and play out make the art unique and exciting....

Leyla Murr - I am an artist whose desire to express has been incubating for a number of years. I feel I have an endless well of images inside me and each journey consists of spontaneous steps leading to a new adventure. This is how I view my life and my art. Colours and feelings cement the process. It is up to the viewer to find me. ...

Hajni Yosifov - As a traveler in this life, searching, I dived deeper into my soul's journey in order to discover myself. On the edge of abstraction I use elements from nature to express my feelings. My painted diaries together with my poems endeavor to build a bridge between me and the world. My recent work captures shreds of self finding the way to struggle back to wholeness. A new self. With layers of paint, I dare to soar where the highest and most ideal form of composition is that which expresses life. And I deepen where is no path, honouring echoes in a new light. Each painting is a pause in my journey, echoing life. ...all cascade from moments of realization; sparkles of light and hope. I'm a traveler between dreamscapes. I'm a pouring of thoughts on the irreversible passage of time. My painted diaries together with my poems endeavor to build a bridge between me and the world. The Dreamer Years after minutes, Minutes after years My life is changing colours Laughter after tears. Love embracing the Dreamer On a bright summer day, The life is changing colours Autumn early day. In a valley, ruins. An old castle...

Priyanka Gupta Agarwal - An artist's life and images are often responses to some pressing cultural and historical needs of the time one lives in and the artistic motivation drives the mind into a journey of discovery, exploration and learning. Now an Indian artist in USA, I come from Kolkata, India, also called the'City of Joy' for its people and the passion with which they lead their lives. This passion has undoubtedly found its way into my own conceptions and expressions of the colors of life through my art. I typically apply paint rapidly and with a lot of force, throwing and dripping paints on the canvas to bring out my deep feelings and emotions. When I approach a canvas it is a spontaneous intuitive effort; the final work is honest and real. Images unfold, presenting themselves as the assimilation of environmental and emotional experiences in concentrated form. This strenuous process engages me artistically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I am curious about the possibility of exploring the vastness of the subconscious, psychic travel, energies made visible through color and, ultimately, myself. There is a desire to express both an inner spiritual truth that lies beyond the immediate nature of the visual world, ...

Leif Mårdh - To paint has always been a challenge to me. My uncle was a painter and my father was a sculptor, carving in wood. I learned a lot from them. Although I was very indeterminate as a young how to express my- self on canvas and develop my painting, how to chose style and media. I was a great admirer of the expressionists as well as of surrealists like Salvador Dali. Still very unsure of where is my homeyard in the enormous cityblocks of art I let the brush be conducted by in- fluence of my emotions. Sometimes resulting in creatures with yelling faces in a mess of colours, sometimes in themes in abstemious reticence. ...

Tari Eszter - In my art the rules that I set up for myself play an important role, the reason for this being that within the framework of these rules I can make use of the opportunity of boundless freedom by means of my acquired knowledge and the reception of new inspirations. Since 2007 I have been working on a series whose members are unfolding from one another, the point of departure being four basic elements inspired by the Javanese batik. With the help of these shapes I create colorful and intricate networks which are without any mechanic fixation and are greatly variegated due to the utilization of the infiltrating accident. The networks are placed above one another as intertwining planes. These structural systems can stand on their own ("Faktor" series), but they can establish illusionary spaces as well ("Intro" series) or even contradictory spaces ("Simbion" series). At the same time in this painterly world figural elements may appear too ("Factor-Organic" series). In my painting I mingle my occidental cultural foundation with inspirations of the oriental culture in a peculiar way. In my opinion it is indispensable for an artist to be open to the world, to widen knowledge continuously. To achieve ...
