  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Lynda Lehmann - I have participated in numerous juried shows and had solo shows of my paintings. Ive sold my photography and digital art online, in galleries and other real-time venues, although I am currently marketing my work primarily online. My stock art sells well and Ive sold at least 2400 images in that venue. Life events had steered me away from painting but I am jumping back into that part of my process and hope to have new paintings online within the next few months. OTHER STUFF My painting Bibliophiles Dream has been featured on the cover of the Insights Journal of Austin Seminary. My paining Damariscotta Dream has been used for the cover of Chuck Sweetmans poetry chapbook published by Dream Horse Press. My image Enchanted Forest was used by the Sierra Club in their online feature Daily Ray of Hope. The Yellow Door has been published in Long Islands Canvas Magazine. I was a featured artist at Imagekind in July and have been featured from time to time on my other sites as well. February 1 - 28, 2009 - Metrimorphic III featuring new abstract paintings combining biomorphic and geometric elements, Harborfields Library, Greenlawn, NY. Due to time constraints I will ...

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. The indescribable nature of the "Duree De Ma Vie" in particular has a growing portion of the art community considering it the conception of an entirely new style. Lucille Coleman - Although I'm able to produce other imagery, the figure has been my main subject. I believe that if an artist can capture and express the figure well, he can master any subject. I have explored the following themes to name a few: chic erotica, forms of dance such as latin and hip-hop, the family, conceptual themes pertaining to people in business, men and women in positive leadership roles and societal issues. I enjoy painting subjects and themes by using a loose, bold, direct and painterly brushstroke or flat graphite strokes over a solid drawing. Spontaneity and making visual statements by the "less is more" method is very gratifying for me. In addition, the chiaroscuro lighting of subjects fascinates me and I never tire of its effects of light and shadow. I am influenced by the works of Joaquin Sorolla, John Singer Sargeant, Caravaggio and other painters of his era, Wassily Kandinsky, Phillip Corey, Impressionism, and many great illustrators. ...

Rita Levinsohn - Welcome to my world of Other Realities. I am a painter of mystical figurative paintings and abstractions composed of acrylic paint and found objects. My concern is for the future of our planet. The animate and inanimate objects within the paintings reflect many incarnations. The message being that it is possible to create rather than destroy....

Ralph Andrea - Ralph Andrea comes from a family of artists and plays classical clarinet. He has been photographing across the United States for the past 30 years and now combines his digital photography with digital art to bring the imagination and warmth of the traditional artist into a photographic genre that touches our hearts with peaceful moments....

Ted Schaal - Lately I have been exploring the use of two enduring materials, bronze and stainless steel. I enjoy the juxtaposition of the primitive texture in the bronze with the mirror polished modern look of the stainless. Balance and symmetry dominate simple geometric forms. These sculptures are made to last through the ages with the highest level of craftsmanship and quality metals. Most of my latest work can be scaled up for public or corporate settings and commission inquiries are welcome. With over 20 years of sculpture experience anything is possible from desk top size to monumental fountains and sculpture. ...

Ted Schaal - Isaac Brown - ISAAC S. BROWN As his day job Isaac is president and CEO of Baltic Street AEH Inc. A non-for profit agency that helps people coping with mental health issues deal with advocacy, employment and housing based in New York city. Mr. Brown has been painting for over 35 years. This self-taught artist has been previously employed in a variety of jobs including lumberjack, diamond cutter, welder and sergeant in the Israeli Defense Forces. It was during his time in the IDF as a young sergeant during periods of down time that he first picked up a brush and paints to begin to express his artistic creativity. Later in between maneuvers, during his time in the first Lebanese War, he began experimenting with whatever materials were available to a young soldier, creating sculptures and roadside art along the way from one camp to another as a release from the daily pressures and responsibly of caring for his fellow soldiers. After leaving the army he traveled the world extensively continuing painting and sculpting along the way. He spent a considerable time amount living in Europe and thus bringing to his art a unique worldwide perspective. His artwork reflects the passion...

Edward Guzman - Painting is one of the ways that I express my soul to the world. It is through a deep felt connection to spirit that enables me to envision the images that eventually become paintings. My style is best described as Shamanic. In this mystical, spiritual style I move the viewer to a deeper level of experience as the images transport one to other realms of existence, to places within and long forgotten. The images, energy and intent may also elicit a healing of sorts. By accessing deeper levels of awareness we become attuned to higher levels of ourselves and if the time is right we are able to heal our many facets of existence. My work has also been described as Contempory Southwest as well as Visionary. My paintings are Mixed Media. I use watercolor, acrylic and 22K gold leaf. I have originals as well as Giclee prints that are hand embellished with 22k gold leaf available. Most recently I was in the 2013 Ontario Open Art Exhibition at the Ontario Museum of History and Art in Ontario, Ca. This is the fifth time my work has been shown at this wonderful little gem of a museum. For more information ...

Storm Hammond - In many of the paintings, my intention was to give the viewer a glimpse into a peaceful moment in the Italian sense of capriccio. In others, particularly those which make use of funerary statuary, one is left questioning aspects of human solitude. It has been said that a landscape does not come alive until there is a figure in it. By using sculptures of human forms, I offer the viewer an identity within the painting. As they are stone, subtly a coldness permeates and a peculiar isolation sets in emotionally. This shifts the pastoral mood to a quiet thoughtful meloncholia. This gives some observers a surrealistic impression of my work. In the architectural alleys, the viewer stands alone on the path. There is always the unseen, something more, a mystery around the corner or through the gate. I use an indirect Old Master's method of oil painting. The process begins with the application of an abstract acrylic ground. Next, an oil grisaille is painted defining the light and dark areas. Then, multiple layers of oil glazes and varnishes finish the piece. The first drawing, painted as the ground utilizes the divine geometry of the Golden Section. The divine ratio, ...

Paula Durbin - Photography has always captured my spirit. It was only natural that my creative "release" be expressed through the same medium. But, because I am a unique spirit, it had to have other levels of creativity - the photo itself just wasn't enough. My first creative approach to photography was the use of the Polaroid transfer technique. My work consisted of subjects that are still close to me: animals and nature. The technique suited me well; it expresses the selected image seen and it allows me to further express its beauty with the softness of the technique. The watercolor paper used brings yet another dimension to the image. A search for the true expression in my photography led me to explore the techniques of the Fresson family of photographers. The Fresson technique, which culminates in the special care given the developmental process and the paper used, presented me the opportunity to express the richness of my photography. My work now moves beyond that 'moment' and presents a depth and richness perhaps not otherwise felt. I am honored to be a part of the Fresson family. There are only a limited number of artists with whom I share this honor. Having gone ...

Bessie Papazafiriou - Through my work I'm able to express reality in my own way. With a brush in hand suddenly horses can fly, the sky is ablaze, myths become reality and the world is transformed. To me, this is freedom. There is an unequaled sense of joy and satisfaction that comes from being able to express my vision and share it with others. I love it when a stranger views my work and feels a connection...suddenly we're no longer strangers. A new line of communication is open, one that transcends language....
