Title is, FOUR WINDOWS TO BIG SUR IN GEO-NARRATIVE. Best Print from First Edition. This mixed technique etching was executed on four zinc plates that were placed next to each other in a horizontal line on the printing press to create a single image. It was inspired by an image from the US Library of Congress Prints and Pictures Department, Panoramic Photographs Collection, in Washington, D. C. The original photograph, a gelatin print, was created and published in 1907 was copyrighted by the Pillsbury Picture Company, but presently has no known restrictions on publication. The work required nine plate workings and baths in nitric acid until I was satisfied with the final results. Black etching ink on Cream colored etching paper, Stonehenge brand. The etching has four zinc plates, three of which measure 3 inches wide by 5 inches high and one plate that is 7 inches wide and 5 inches high. The Print measures about 22 inches wide by 9 inches high, or 57.150 cm wide by 24.765 cm high. 5The work was hand printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in mat selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards.
