Artwork Description:

This multiple plate etching takes its inspiration from a photo in The US Library of Congress, Print and Picture Department, Washington, DC, The Panoramic Photograph Collection. This Gelatin Silverprint, which was taken in 1909 by The Moffett Studios, depicts several Pisa landmarks including The Leaning Tower, Baptistery, and Cathedral. I did three graphite pencil drawings to arrive at the one scene that I could use. I then transferred my drawing onto the individual zinc plates. My etching techniques included intaglio, drypoint, and aquatint, and the work is executed in a unique two color ink process on RivesBFK white paper. My oil base inks were manufactured in Paris. The title of my etching is, ORANGE PISA IN SIX VIEWS in order to correspond to the six individual zinc plates I used. Each plate measures 3 inches high, 7.60 cm by 2 inches wide, 5.00 cm. A millimeter space separates each image segment. The print size is 22 inches long x 7.5 inches high, or 65 cm by 20 cm. The work, which I hand printed and published myself at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, demonstrates my interest in geometric form balanced by visual tensions. Also, please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and affords a wide selection of choice for the collector with regard to matting and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, Certificate of Authenticity, and the shipment carton. Mailing and transportation costs are added to the price.
