Artists Describing Their Art:
Anne Schwartz - My newest collections, entitled Zoom and A Journey Through Infinity, reflect my artistic exploration of the infinite cosmic history. I am known for pushing my palette of vibrant, and often translucent, colors to the limit, drawing out the vivid hues of nature. My paintings draw upon the earth's energy in a dangerous and imaginative drama. The paintings launch the viewer from under the earth's surface into the solar system and beyond. I explore my own consciousness to create a kind of landscape of energy and emotions. One color plays on the last, changing and twisting to form the contrasts of light and dark. Bright colors burst forth against the dark background, sending the viewer into a dazzling world of exploding stars, swirling gas planets, and our own earth. My collection A Journey to Infinity is oil on canvas. My collection Zoom is mixed media on canvas and paper. I am located in Pacific Palisades, California, and work in oil, collage and other forms of mixed media. Artist Bio Anne Brawer Schwartz has exhibited her mixed media paintings in numerous group shows throughout Los Angeles County. In 2010, her work was published in the coffee table book "Santa Monica," ...

Dulz Cuna - PAINTINGS I mounted my brains up on the wall I've framed my sorrows in advance I kept my joys free-standing on the hall All in an captured stance I've lost my mind to endless love I cried my heart on dampened tombs I tasted ambrosia rain sprinkled from above That sweetened my bitter womb Diluted I was in a marbled sea Of colors dabbled by the Master's brush Told to tone down and be solvent-free To picture the worldly and crass My nights are stacked in fever's pitch My noons vapor the dizzy rhapsody The evening stars within my reach Are drawn in geometric parody From drafting board to taut canvas I transform the visual to evocable Vacillating choices of media wanderlust On mystic hearts hid or palpable My paintings' sparse but my heart's a gallery Chambers browsed from paranoid to sublime From room to room in curated history Hung unauctioned, yet wanting time Dulz2004...
Carla Goldberg - Carla Goldberg-Artists Statement: Bodice Of The Goddess-The Secret Life Of The Hudson I have been working on this series of mixed media paintings since January of 2009. In "Bodice Of The Goddess- the Secret Life of the Hudson River", I give liberal license to the stories behind the histories, myths and legends of the Hudson River exploring the playful and vengeful sides of the River Goddesses of the Hudson. It is the interaction of Goddess affections and jealousies, in play with Earth, water and the human world that puts the viewer as witness to the wave action and radical weather phenomena unveiling before their eyes. The way I interpret it, River Goddess lore has us believe that it is Diva like temperamental female whims of self indulgence that create an emotional response that is reflected back into the river creating the constantly changing waves and sudden and glorious storms that brew over the Hudson. What we as humans perceive is not the true intentions of the Goddesses, for Goddesses do as they please and play with all the elements as mere toys. Even Kipsy, the Hudson River's own mythical version of the Loch Ness monster is a ...

Biagio Civale - My statement is that my artwork is my ..statement. Since the variety of viewers is astonishing, the perspectives and appreciations will always vary. Life and the world in which we live are definitely complex. I sincerely hope that some of my work may tell something to some of my viewers and visitors. I know that I am a multi-faceted person with many interests. Maybe some of these aspects will match some of the important interests of the viewers. From a style standpoint I believe that I have always been an Expressionist, with an incredible appetite for abstract art and naturalism. As a result, at times I am an Abstractionist with a yearning for the resources of representation. Pure Abstraction remains a constant attraction to me. If I did not make it clear already, to me Coherence is absolutely of no interest. I am myself....

Geometric, Figurative, Abstract or Expressionistic paintings emerge while I play with colors, textures, found objects and forms as life plays with me."...
