In 1967, he met at an exhibition in GAPteborgs Konsthall JesAos - Rafael Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez and Julio Le Parc. Speaking with these artists, he discovered to be fascinated by optical art. He decided to devote all his research to kinetic art. An extended stay in GAPteborg gave him the opportunity to constantly evolve in movement and ...

Vladimir Volosov - I was born in 1937 in Leningrad, USSR (now St. Petersburg, Russia). My way to art was a lengthy one. Before becoming an artist, I studied for thirty years at the forefront of modern physics as a PhD scientist and professor, author more than 150 scientific articles in contemporary laser physics. Thirty years of strenuous scientific work on the front edge of modern physics gives me a deep feeling for the anxiety and unprotectedness of the world's beauty. The formula, "beauty saves the world" fits my own attitude. My creed is also embodied in the statement: "to have time to realize everything given to you by Nature." At the threshold of my fifties, I decided to live one more life, a new, alluring life of the free artist. I walked away from my established scientific career and completely devoted myself to painting. In 1991 I founded and headed the association "Light, Color and Art" to connect with scientists engaged in the arts. The main directions of my paintings are lyrical realism and abstract compositions. My paintings are about light, color, atmosphere and space. For me, the most important elements are light and color and their juxtaposition/nexus/meeting of...

Walther Von Krenner - Before I studied in Asia, Picasso and Gauguin had a great influence on my thinking. Later I admired the ideas and importance of Pollocks action painting. At this point in my journey Liu Kuo Sung, Chang Dai Chien, Fu Baoshi and Zao Wuki artists mostly unknown to the average Westener have had a great influence on my work. I am attempting to synthesize the style and spirit of their work into a new style with the same power, energy and feeling without copying their work or trying to repeat something that has been done already. ...

Raphael Perez Israeli Painter - Pride and Prejudice: on Raphael Perez's Artwork Raphael Perez, born in 1965, studied art at the College of Visual Arts in Beer Sheva, and from 1995 has been living and working in his studio in Tel Aviv. Today Perez plays an important role in actively promoting the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) art and culture in Tel Aviv, and the internet portal he set up helps artists from the community reach large audiences in Israel and abroad. Hundreds of his artworks are part of private collections in Israel and abroad, and his artworks were shown in several group exhibitions: in Tel Aviv Museum of Art, "Zman Le'Omanut" art gallery, Camera Obscura, The Open House in Jerusalem, Ophir Gallery, The Haifa Forum and other private businesses and galleries. In 2003-4 his paintings and studio appeared in a full-length movie, three student films and two graduation films. Raphael Perez is the first Israeli artist to express his lifestyle as a Gay. His life and the life of the LGBT community are connected and unfold over hundreds of artwork pieces. His art creation is rare and extraordinary by every Israeli and international artistic standard. His sources of inspiration ...

Philip Hallawell - I work in various media: oil, watercolor, dry pastels, pen and ink and mixed media. My work is a result of a fragmented view of the world, which gives it a surreal quality. However, my process is not surreal, because I start with a definite theme that I wish to investigate. My main area of interest is people and the human form and I am constantly investigating the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual aspects of Man. Over the years I have developed various series, which I revisit periodocally, investigating different aspects. In purely visual terms, what fascinates me is light and form and how I can use diverse visual elements in a complementary way, opposing, for instance, line and form, or rough and smooth textures. The use of diferent materials to achieve diverse expressions, either alone or as mixed media, along with alternating between a graphic representation and a painterly one, or mixing the two, is a very important aspect of the way I materialize my thinking into images. Equally important is the transition from very realistic images to a totally abstract means of expression and alternating between control and expressiveness....

Philip Hallawell - Environmental Artist Apollo - "The beauty of our planet should be held in respect as well as reverence and awe! As the care takers of this precious jewel called Earth it is our duty to become more harmonious with our environment, for what we hold in our hands is a trust for future generations. What we do today, creates tomorrow." APOLLO Internationally Renowned Environmental Artist. Apollo is one of the World's Leading Environmental Artists. Apollo started painting dolphins and whales when He first moved to Maui in 1980. Since that time he has developed a Worldwide Following and has had the privilege to work with several Environmental Groups to raise both funding and awareness. ...

Jennifer Vranes - Words like brilliant and vibrant are often used to describe the contemporary paintings of Jennifer Vranes. With her extreme texture, and colors just brighter than reality, Vranes' paintings capture an intense energy that is both positive and uplifting. An extensive world traveler, Vranes gets her inspiration from places she has seen from all over the world. Through her art, she transports the viewer to distant lands where poppies grow wildly in breathtaking meadows; where fragrant Lavender is farmed in lush rows in France; or where aspens quake in the Rocky Mountains. Vranes finds the secret utopias that often go unnoticed and she captures it on canvas for the whole world to stop and take notice. Her passion to capture the dazzling beauty of nature stems from having grown up in a small country town in Southern Oregon. Perhaps it is her upbringing that inspires her subject matter which consistently portrays large, open spaces and white houses--much like the house she grew up in. Vranes continued her education at Brigham Young University , graduating in April 1998 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree. It was after her graduation that she met and married Matthew Vranes, a native of San Francisco. ...

Jennifer Vranes - Daniel Wall - Daniel Wall is the founder of Intense Impressionism, which is characterized by unsurpassed intensity and boldness. Started in the 1980s by Daniel Wall, Intense Impressionist techniques include big, conspicuous strokes created with palette knife, extreme texture with heavy paints, intensified vibrant colors, and exaggerated striking effects of lights. Daniel Wall's Intense Impressionist landscape, cityscape, seascape, and floral paintings are unrivalled in their popular appeal and are among the best loved in the world today. Daniel Wall began drawing and painting when he was a little kid. His first art teacher was his mother, a very talented and diligent art and craft woman. Daniel Wall earned a lot of art awards in his childhood. He had been accepted to a fine art academy when he was a teen. He has study fine art in China, Italy, and United States. He gained his art senses, different calture, apprences, and ability from a variety of art sources by working as an art instructor, art editor, illustrator, and professor. That is key why he was able to establish the Intense Impressionism style painting. He made his decision and became a professional artist after got his master degree from Georgia Southern University. Daniel Wall ...

Ron Anderson - Working as an illustrator and painter for more than 20 years, I have often utilized the figure in narratives to communicate the nature of the human condition. I give each of my characters a role in my paintings that plays out like a scene from a motion picture. Carefully scripted by a personal experience, these characters go about their lives like you and me. Many of my paintings depict tension or energy in some way. The tension is exhibited in an attitude, an action or in some activity on the canvas. The tension is either overt or more kinetic, but is almost palpable in each piece of artwork. The size of my paintings, along with some personal connection, pulls you into the canvas. The drag of an alto saxophone fills the room in one painting while the noise deafens you; the smoke chokes you. A fight breaks out in the corner of the room on another canvas while a pool hustler wins a round. The subjects are infinite. Henry O. Tanner, John Sloan, and George Bellows were masters at observing and translating these types of human conditions onto a canvas in oil. My technique, drawn from what I have observed ...
