  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Freydoon Rassouli - Creation is the product of synchronizing our energy with the universe. Once we experience the whole and recognize it, we become aware that we are nothing but the Divine Creative Force. I do not start a painting with sketches, I do not paint on location and I do not work from photos. Instead, many mornings, before the dawn, I climb a mountain to its peak. There , sitting in solitude, I observe rising of the sun. I watch plants open their leaves, buds tear up their dresses and the birds sing to the arrival of their creator. There is an interconnected serenity that allows all creatures to experience the divine unity. Having felt that creative energy, I rush to my studio, dip my brush into paint, and let it move freely on canvas. My paintings are inspirational for they allow the observer to experience infinite viewpoints and perceptions. They are not abstract for they represent what is actually more real than what our eyes are able to see. They allow the viewers to be inspired by taking their own perception beyond their senses and their surroundings. "Relationship" is the most important aspect of my work. I believe that dream and reality ...

Carlos Bruscianelli - ARTISTS STATEMENT. Almost all my work is inspired by Contemporary Realism Heavily influenced by classical realism and hyperrealism. My favorite technique is the oil on canvas, the genre that I practice most often is the Still Life, because of its infinite compositional and pictorial possibilities. As for my paintings, it is common for me to use elements that go unnoticed, some marbles, a piece of Kraft paper, glass goblets, a Rubiks cube, seemingly insignificant but chromatically interesting pieces of wood and metal with organic textures or created by the human being, who pose a challenge to be accurately represented for any painter. Currently my work focuses on the main elements of the composition, accompanied by neutral backgrounds, with the aim of the viewer fix their eyes on these pieces. My goal, like that of every painter of the realist genre, is to follow the long road of technical perfection, this is certainly a utopian goal and may sound like something very pretentious, but, constantly improving in every aspect of life is not a Bad habit, although I have many defects, being conformist is not one of them. Carlos Bruscianelli. ...

Alison Raimes - Blurred Edges is a multi media project exploring the boundaries of the contemporary perception of reality. Using intriguing and strange images created by photographing hand made models made from everyday materials, the photographs are morphed, manipulated and juxtaposed with the atmospheric, dense drones of sound artist, Red Fog

Alan Soffer - Alan Soffer began studying sculpture and clay in 1973 transitioning to abstract painting in 1985, through a breakthrough program at Bennington College with Sandy Stone. His abstractions have been in the pursuit of the unknown, unique, and personal depths of the unconscious. Rather than confining his energies to a single medium, he sensitively chooses materials that accommodate the concepts at hand. Early constructions were in clay and found objects, then discovering printmaking and photography, which he learned on his own. Finally, focusing on painting with acrylic, oil, and wax. Encaustics allowed him to marry a sculptural component to his painterly approach, following his studies at Ringling School in 1998. The hot, pigmented wax's inherent translucency perfectly supports his vocabulary for expressing space from the microscopic to the galactic. Whatever the direction, the work is always influenced by Joseph Campbell, the noted mythologist, who Soffer considers his mentor. He organized the first national encaustic conference in the US in 2005 and continues teaching encaustic technique as well as abstract painting primarily through workshops. Major one person shows have been presented at: DCCA, Wilmington DE; Borowsky Gallery, Phila.; Rosenfeld Gallery, Phila.; Widener U., Chester PA; Atlantic City Art Center; Robert Roman ...

Brikena Berdo - I cannot say what really led me to painting. I guess it is related to that inner desire which has made me express myself in this visual language. But what has mostly marked my art and driven me towards endless research is composed of notions such as the sense of time, childhood, human psychology and nature. I think, for some artists, it is true that what they have sought for in their art is something they have missed during their own life, a lack of anything from the real world of ours. I grew up in a aEURoegrey countryaEUR. I lived under a dictatorial regime until the 90aEURtms, which was followed by a transit period of destruction. Hence, so little has been inherited by the previous system. As a result what I perceived of those times came in colourlessly, greyish and meaninglessly in all aspects. It did not make sense at all. The absence of colours led to a hungriness and craving for greens and blues and yellows etc. This thirst for colours found expression later greatly and strongly in my paintings. I love colours and they are important, sometimes more than shape. I like to impose myself through ...

Florian Liber - Florian Liber's body representations are primitive with ritual energy. Layering color near color, he paints suddenly, emptying his emotions and feelings onto canvas. He leaves graphic marks, drips of paint, scratches and scribbles as evidence of the physical act of painting. Contemporary subjects are explored using raw emotions of archaic processes to create a sense of uniqueness. Located in the heart of the Montreal Museum district, The Contemporary Arts Gallery features major Canadian and international painters and sculptors such as: Jean-Paul Riopelle, Karel Appel, Victor Vasarely, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Joan Miro, P.E. Borduas, Pierre Alechinsky, Jean McEwen and many others. ...

Synthia Saintjames - "Painting, for me, is like a much needed breath of fresh air. Something very necessary for my health and happiness. But also something that I love sharing. My paintings, to me, are like my children, each and every one, and I love knowing that they are going into homes, offices and public places where they can bring feelings of joy and warmth to others. I paint in warm, bright and embracing colors that, I have been told, have great healing powers, or just plain make people of all ages feel good. Now that's an added blessing that I couldn't have imagined. Painting, for me, is like a much needed breath of fresh air."...
