Margaret Stone: 'Kokopelli And The Mask of Gold', 2014 Encaustic Painting, Abstract Figurative. Kokopelli is to the left in this painting, and in myth dates back 3000 years. He was the harbinger of fertility relating to marriage and agriculture. His flute playing chased away winter and brought about spring. He was also considered a trickster, for what reason I do not know. The ...

  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Dusanka Badovinac - My art is me, everything I see or feel. Creating balance in power and sensitivity in my art is my never ending challenge. My goal is always to capture the feeling, to feel it intense and share it with others. The joy and passion for art I am sharing nowadays with my students and that became my new source of inspiration. ...

Neale Howells - art basel 2012 perhaps you are wondering who or what i sound like... well this is a link to some radio which we done a couple or weeks ago here in wales uk......

Vanessa Bernal - Artist's statement: My earliest childhood memories are those of painting with my grandfather and frequently visiting the Art Institute of Chicago where we would spend countless hours together. He taught me that everything we come in contact with has the potential of becoming a work of art. My grandfather and I would take walks together to hunt for "treasures" of discarded objects that later he would turn into beautiful collages and assemblages. It is those lessons I carry with me and -today- in my work I see his influence. I have never been comfortable with expressing myself verbally. I am not one to strike up a conversation with a stranger, nor do I feel comfortable speaking to a group of people. Visual expression comes naturally to me; it is through this means I can best communicate with others and feel the most comfortable. At a young age I became aware of the injustices being perpetrated in the world and was deeply disenchanted with the political process as a means of creating effective change in our global community. For me, becoming an artist was inevitable. Through the visual arts not only did I communicate my life's passions, my fears, ...

Jorge Posada - In my intention to be part of a collective memory, my art serves as a vehicle to present my own interpretation of the violent reality I have witnessed. I use the human form to explore the rituals of violence that are present in our global society. I portray the brutality inflicted on the human being by his own kind. I reflect the impact that has been engraved in my mind when I was confronted in my childhood with the universe of icons that represent the martyrs of the Catholic Church. In my quest to exorcise these images, I use the body as the center of my artwork. In my former paintings and drawings, I depicted the figure in a more realistic way. Today I use a different visual approach that integrates the human form into a juxtaposition of color, shape, texture and carefully applied transparencies. The tension between gestural body fragments and planes suggests a constant flux of the body in the two-dimensional space. I articulate the formal dynamics of the ephemeral human presence with a blend of realistic and semi-abstract figuration. I invade the canvas and the paper with brush strokes and lines in spontaneous motions to ...

Richard Beckholt - My artwork is very unique.I have spent most of my life developing the language of my work and continue to process and refine the course I have chosen. I work very hard to bring all the drama in color and design that I can possibly muster while remaining true to my initial concepts.I will not allow myself to slip into the realm of decorative art for the sake of sales. My art is honest and straight from my heart. Those collecting my works sense the emotions expressed within the stark images....

Dulz Cuna - PAINTINGS I mounted my brains up on the wall I've framed my sorrows in advance I kept my joys free-standing on the hall All in an captured stance I've lost my mind to endless love I cried my heart on dampened tombs I tasted ambrosia rain sprinkled from above That sweetened my bitter womb Diluted I was in a marbled sea Of colors dabbled by the Master's brush Told to tone down and be solvent-free To picture the worldly and crass My nights are stacked in fever's pitch My noons vapor the dizzy rhapsody The evening stars within my reach Are drawn in geometric parody From drafting board to taut canvas I transform the visual to evocable Vacillating choices of media wanderlust On mystic hearts hid or palpable My paintings' sparse but my heart's a gallery Chambers browsed from paranoid to sublime From room to room in curated history Hung unauctioned, yet wanting time Dulz2004...

Margaret Stone - Here we are, physically cemented to the earth by gravity. But - our imaginations stretch and soar, taking us beyond our planet and connecting us with far places in the universe. Being part of this, do we indeed live and bloom in a cosmic garden? Ah, perhaps so. I am exploring this connection in my new artwork....

Don Dougan - My work comprises both abstracted and figurative imagery executed in a variety of mixed materials, with stone being the predominate medium. Other materials used (usually in conjunction with stone) include foundry cast metals, carved and joined wood, cast and fabricated plastics, cold-worked and kiln-formed glass, cast and carved hydraulic cements, cast/formed paper, welded/fabricated metals, gilding, and found/assembled objects. The more abstracted imagery is worked in pedestal pieces, large freestanding sculptures, and in wall-mounted relief sculptures. The figurative lip series is usually presented in wall-mounted reliefs, deep shadowbox framing, and occasionally as either a pedestal piece or a large freestanding work. The most recently begun series of work comprises pedestal-sized pieces using the imagery of the ship or the boat hull. Each series or each type of work allows me to express aspects of the human condition - the more abstracted works tend to reveal a more universal emotional/rational characterization of subject matter, the lip series tends to allow sensuality, humor, and more visceral expressions, while the ship series delves into personal/cultural memories and emotional journeys. For more images and information on myself, my work, and my working methods please visit my ...

Ione Citrin - Ione is an avant garde artist whose artistic expression takes fantastic shape through her diverse oil and watercolor paintings, bronze sculptures, found object collages and mixed media assemblages. Her paintings and sculptures range from abstract to realistic to impressionistic - all visionary interpretations from her imaginative soul. "When I paint, I dip my brush in my soul... Being an Artist is a life force, not a career choice. Each piece represents a fragment of my life's work. I present the world artistically as I see it, as I wish to see it, and occasionally as I once saw it. You see, It is my identity. Without this expression of self, I am nothing. Through my art I give love." Ione uses only one name but a variety of styles to soothe her wild imagination. A native of Chicago, she is a former television star and commercial voice-over artist. Now she wins awards and sells her creativity through her hands instead of through her larynx. Her art is as original as she is - bold, colorful and highly decorative....

Nicole M. Mathieu - Difficult to talk about art as one should, first of all, feel it. What is more fantastic that listening to a piece of music, reading a novel or seeing an artwork which will transport you deeply inside. For me, Art is not a duplication of what one sees, it should transcend it. My portraits were done in this sense trying to transpose the invisible part of the model. In my recent oil paintings, I try to give sounds with colors which reflects life itself and will remind you of things that seem familiar. Last December 2011, I moved to a beautiful art studio in Paris (near Place d'Italie) and you are welcome to visit my atelier while on vacation. Please call me before at 00 33 (0)663528344 ...

Stefan Van Der Ende - My sculptures are Solutions for Non/existing Problems . Now is the time to collect them. They are rare and unique ,and there are not many of them , also due to the big amount of time it takes to make the biggerones in wood and stone . They are made dreaming/thinking and working intensively , whith the intention to be able communicate emotion through their abstract/associative visual appearence which relate to subconcious processes in the human mind .(specialy mine ofcourse ) There are often more pictures of one sculpture , because ,as you know you have to see sculptures from more sides , to get a good impression .

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Oksana Linde - I paint and draw since very young, and sometimes feel I am in a dream. When I close my eyes, many times I have extraordinary visions impossible to paint. I do not care about what is in fashion but what comes to my mind and try to reproduce it...I like to experiment with different techniques and mediums. Dream and reality merge frequently. I Need freedom in art. For relaxing, I love making collage, watercolor, digital images, also ink drawing. Collage is such a wonderful world! You can discover a hidden universe putting together different pieces of whatever you find. When I make mixed media large artworks, it is difficult to stop for me. Ideas after ideas keep filling my mind, and I have not enough possibilities to do all I would like. I was born in Venezuela, from Ukrainian origin. My mother, Halyna Krychevska-Linde, taught me some painting techniques. She was a many-sided artist and artisan. My grandfather, Vasyl H. Krychevsky was a very talented artist, scholar, graphic artist, designer, architect, Teather and Movie set designer, innovator. He died when I was four, but his influence on me has been intense.
