Artists Describing Their Art:
Dune Tencer - I have been told that I need to find a style, a theme, or a signature look to my art. Well I have. I love painting the landscapes of America's Southwest and my home state of Texas. I love painting the texture, color and size. Now that being said I find painting abstract and inks very freeing, relaxing and the inks are just down right fun. On occasion the canvas has a mind of its own and a painting just wants out. A good example of this can be found in the Geisha. My daughter challenged me to paint a really big painting. I had a roll of canvas, 8 feet long and 4 feet wide. Overwhelmed by the size I threw on some black paint and some red paint, spread it around. I then hung it from the ceiling of the studio and stepped back. There she was all I had to do was the finishing embellishment and 45 minutes later there stood the "GEISHA". This is not the sort of thing that happens often but what fun when it does. I hope you enjoy seeing my art as much as I do making it. Thank you. ...
Carla Goldberg - Carla Goldberg-Artists Statement: Bodice Of The Goddess-The Secret Life Of The Hudson I have been working on this series of mixed media paintings since January of 2009. In "Bodice Of The Goddess- the Secret Life of the Hudson River", I give liberal license to the stories behind the histories, myths and legends of the Hudson River exploring the playful and vengeful sides of the River Goddesses of the Hudson. It is the interaction of Goddess affections and jealousies, in play with Earth, water and the human world that puts the viewer as witness to the wave action and radical weather phenomena unveiling before their eyes. The way I interpret it, River Goddess lore has us believe that it is Diva like temperamental female whims of self indulgence that create an emotional response that is reflected back into the river creating the constantly changing waves and sudden and glorious storms that brew over the Hudson. What we as humans perceive is not the true intentions of the Goddesses, for Goddesses do as they please and play with all the elements as mere toys. Even Kipsy, the Hudson River's own mythical version of the Loch Ness monster is a ...

Elio Pastore - Elio Stefano PASTORE was born in Turin (Italy), where he lives and works. He has got a degree in Law, and works in the communication field for a big public company acquiring a twenty-year experience in that sector. He started using PC in 1998 for creative necessities relating to his job, discovering little by little its fascinating power and making it a trustful and indispensable tool. Fond of photography, travels and mountains, he has often put together these interests, getting numerous awards in photography contests and publishing his picture stories on different magazines. His artistic life - started in 1992 - has found in the digital art his ideal medium of expression; infact the digital art allows him to draw inspiration from the objectivity but to filter it through his personal life, so transforming it in an ideal and essential reality, spread through an emotionally intimate atmosphere. From this synergy between a personal sensibility and a technical mastery, were born pictorial imagines devoid of modern references and contaminations, creating a world with no time suspended between magic realism and poetry. Starting from the year 2000, from the original production, he has led in a parallel way, a personal research on forms ...

Jean Chevalier - In my work, I am looking for, and finding, metaphors to express the effects of American life on the emotions and psyches of those who live here. Recently, I have been concentrating on portraits and people painted on paper with acrylics. This allows me to push and pull the image, to overstate and erase, to leave traces of what has come before underneath what is fully exposed in the end. Over the years, I have developed a personal iconography, a style of brush-stroke and, essentially, my own personal visual language. This is exciting work for me to make....

Evie Tirado - My journey as an artist began with my first crayon. I have always been in love with color. Over the years I've developed a passion for lines, forms, space, and the spaces between . Be it paint, inks, dyes, or watercolors, each media excites me. I experiment in diverse styles, allowing the subject, materials, and concepts, to influence the final outcome. My work is often a fusion of opposites -- chance and deliberation; remnants of the past link to the present; fluid pools of color, allowed to drip and layer and develop alongside the thick, structural impasto effects. For me, art is a necessity; a surrendering, a discovery, and a celebration. It transforms thoughts and ideals into dimensional realities beyond the flat surface. The interior process of abstraction suspends me from isolation, and connects me with my most authentic self,as well as the rest of humanity. ...
Christian Schuetz - Not only birth, pain, sexuality, work, death, the human body as expressed in manners, gestures and facial expressions are basic human and cultural experiences, but also the individual voice impressive in all its shades for emotional layers and articulated speech. Even the perception and design of signs in its communicative and meditative meaning is a cultural experience, which is common to all cultures. Universal signs are therefore a fundamental theme in my work. This work is not about their mere aesthetical illustration, but is to respect their ability to relate to complex issues, expressed in almost "endless" variations (such as: The Wanderer, BA-CH, Strings). For the changes that a sign is experiencing, I have developed certain methods that are put into action only on the computer. Analogue methods are also found in music, mathematics and even in poetics. Art for me is therefore a recognition level to which the universal perception is displayed. ...
