  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Patrick Sean Kelley - Behind the Art There is nothing more intimidating than standing in front of a blank canvas and wondering what it will become. There is also nothing more exhilarating. As I begin to apply paint to canvas I find my work seems to be in continuous motion. Always changing. Always progressing. Much like the oil paints that actually embody my visions. I am influenced by many places, things, people and of course, many artists. My latest work is changing yet again. The palette has become softer more jewel toned and the subjects more somber. They speak to me as I paint each stroke awaiting life on the canvas. I am clearly influenced by some of the more modern masters like, Klimpt, Kandinsky, Mirot, Caldwell and as always, Picasso. The art is Inspired by the subject. By a woman's beauty as it is seen and felt both internally and externally. The images in my vision actually seem to mask their true identities as they glance out at the viewer exuding an air of aloofness and mystique. Each stroke is painstakingly smoothed and controlled to create subtle dimensions and color that create the mysterious creatures that appear to come to life on ...

Arlene Magloire - "Art is a universal language and painting for me is one of the most universal forms of expression and should never have to confront barriers or boundaries. When I paint, I try to create moods and feelings from the many things that inspire me. I feel art should be enjoyed, not lectured."...

Sangeeta Singh - Sangeeta Singh I am an art nomad. Traveling and exploring styles, mediums, themes and techniques - both traditional and contemporary. Combining intuition and technique, I seek to create a sublime fusion of thought and medium. My colors are rich, always luminous.Intense.Striking. For me art is a celebration of life and an inward journey of growth and awakening. I have been a professional artist for the past 20+ years. I have completed and commissioned over a thousand paintings for clients across India, UK, Canada, France and the US. The paintings are in various styles-both traditional and contemporary and represent multiple mediums that I have worked with. I have experimented with great success with mixing traditional tools and techniques with contemporary mediums (painting with vegetable dyes & natural substances on Cedar wood), frescos on cement walls, Charcoal on canvas, painting with leather batik, Etching and painting on metal foils, brushed steel laminate, and glass. Overview of my art education and training * Studied Fine Art at the College of Fine Arts and Architecture at Hyderabad, India * Diploma in Ceramics from LS Raheja College of Art, Mumbai * Studied "Patachitra", the traditional art of Orissa for 3 years with the help of a "guru" ...

Mark Maxwell - Statement Mark Maxwell The art of Mark Maxwell is created through the inspiration of the alchemical process. His works often consist of patinated copper incorporated onto canvas. Thin sheets of copper are beaten over various surfaces. Details are replicated within the copper as it bends and stretches within the grooves and cracks, imitating the surface beneath. The images in the cast, be it exposed tree roots from Sherwood forest or the crypt floor from Christ Church Spitalfields, are transformed to the higher realms of iconic grandeur with the application of various paints, pigments, gilding methods (silver leaf, gold leaf) and chemical patination . His recent collection of paintings are aluminium tablets with minimalist applications of copper and silver leaf. He has had several commissions for Music CD covers and Literature Jacket Covers. Recent commissions include a Site specific Sculpture installation ( metal work/etched glass/LED Lighting) for the British Phonographic Industry - London and paintings for the Malmaison -Newcastle. His works are in private collections and various institutions including the National Australia Bank - London, Smithkline Beecham - Harrow, Liberty Re Insurance - London, The Palace - Riyadh, NMB Heller - Surrey, RPS Consultancy, Lexington Metropolis - London, Serono Pharmaceuticals - London, Jones Lang la Salle - London, GPS Maidenhead , ...

Pamela Henry - I am a Photography Artist. My process crosses analog and digital borders. Initially my images are captured on film, slides or digitally. I use a range of techniques from cross-process development and polaroid manipulation to digital painting, collage and layering to create what you see here. If I were to condense my thoughts on photographic expression into a single phrase it would be "in the moment". The moment begins at first sight and is complete when I release the shutter, lift my stylo from the polaroid, or remove my hand from the mouse. I know I will relive that feeling each time I look at the image, like a song or a smell that transports you to another place and time. This photographic expression translates beyond verbal expression and rests in your being, invoking a subjective reaction based on your experiences. Herein lies a collection of such moments. ...

Alan Falk - In the tradition of great figurative painting, my work reflects a synthesis of craftsmanship, conscious and subconscious relationships, and emotional and social content. It is an ongoing quest to define the sublime and the ineffable and a deep heartfelt yearning for harmony. I am energized by the belief that here, at the dawning of the 21st century, the process of creating art through traditional media is very much alive and continues to evolve and remains as relevant as it ever was. The primary influences on my current work are diverse Judaic sources including biblical passages, prophetic writings, rabbinical teachings and contemporary Judaic philosophy that shape my conscience. These timeless commentaries, informed by the core moral and universal humanistic values of Jewish tradition and ethos, are an integral part of the shaping of our western civilization, as they encompass a fundamental desire for personal spiritual and global peace, equality and social justice. The jumping off points for my paintings are these universal metaphors and messages of good and evil, questions and commentaries on integrity and moral/ethical choice, parables on mortality and the quest for spiritual connection. Through careful crafting of thematic coloring, expressive line, I attempt to develop a new ...

Maxim Bondarenko - All indifferently, as if colouring everything around with my vision, like the Kazakh akyn whose song is about everything that he sees at the moment of singing. It seems that when I have painted a certain number of objects, the space of my dreams will break through into this universe, take it over, filling everything with its own realities, imposing its own laws. The world will change, but not in abstract way a-la'Beauty will save the world', but genuinely. And you should not expect this new world to be calm. ...

Susan Leopold - My art tells a nonlinear story that emerges from my dreams and memories. I am drawn to the dynamic between past and present,to what can be seen and what is invisible and the connection of the conscious to the unconscious mind. I work with portraits, old photos, materials, textures and objects that reflect their history. I am attracted to things that are imperfect, tactile, raw edged or torn. I juxtapose disjointed bits and pieces in the way that the mind replays the past. ...

Luis Guillermo Ramírez Ezquerra - Luis RE. Artist statment. Versus: sobre Borderline borderline [boer-der-lain] s. Limite, orilla, frontera.- a. Incierto, dudoso.

Avinash Shamdasani - Consciousness expresses itself through creation. This world we live in is the Art of the Creator. Artists come and go in the twinkling of an eye but the Art lives on. On many an occasion when I am creating art I have felt touch by something sacred. In those moments; I felt my spirit soar and become one with everything that exists. I become the stars and the moon. I become the Lover and the beloved. I become the victor and the vanquished. I become the master and the slave. I become the artist and the art. I become the knower and the known. I keep on creating Then it is the eternal art of creation. The creator and the creation merge into the wholeness of joy. I keep on creating And creating And creating Until there is only .
