Benedict Gilchrist - My paintings are based on polarized opposites and the space between worlds. The process is intuitive although I consciously explore the relationships between opposite tendencies. Utilizing both hard-edged and loosely expressive techniques I explore how chaos and impulse find a sense of order and balance. Through the use of an organic grid spilling onto the field of painterly marks below, pictorial space and surface tension are reconciled. The patterning elements are derived from such disparate sources as cellular microscopy, textile patterning, the decaying of a billboard ad and a childhood pre-sleep mental space. The paintings are an exploration of the micro / macro relationship of atomic structure with that of the broader external universe. It is a space not easily definable and uncertain--between wakefulness and sleep, expression and pattern, the synthetic and the organic. I am the thing between the infinite that is both within and without. So is the painting. I try not to get in the way of the relationship my unconscious has to the forms in front of it and allowing that relationship to evolve and generate new possibilities is crucial to my work. Impulse must be acted upon....

Clari Netzer - My paintings are characterized by dualism and color rooted in Mexico where I grew up. I make use of contrasting elements which eventually reach balance and harmony: warm and cold colors, rounded shapes and sharp combinations that create tension and interest. I intend to denote a state of two parts, a view about the relationship between mind and matter where two opposites co-exist in harmony. The colors, lines and forms are a continuous challenge that leads me to constantly experiment with new styles, from figurative to abstraction, my artworks show a prominent harmonious composition, symbolisms and figures that add a dimension of mystery to the pictorial narrative, yet are full the senses and share meticulous aesthetics ...

Pat Heydlauff - I discovered my love for painting in 1993 as I was transitioning out of a stress filled career and exploring my creative side. As a colorist, I painted lively, vibrant mainstream artwork consisting of landscapes, florals and still-lifes. Through painting I noticed my life was becoming balanced, and filled with harmony instead of stress. Painting allowed me to discover my spiritual nature and peace within and lead me to paint in a stream of consciousness flowing with energy. This flow of consciousness energy is visible in my recent "art with a message" canvas work where you can always find hope, peace and joy in the subject matter and every brush stroke. Painting is the physical manifestation of my spiritual being. It is the flow of energy through paint onto a two dimensional canvas projecting three dimensional energy. I endeavor to convey a vital energy through sight with color and design. My inspirational and mainstream artwork can be placed in areas of the home and office to create an environment with balance, harmony and a flow of energy which enriches the viewer. I believe that in our world today with cement cities, sound pollution and isolated environments, it is difficult ...

Kevin Wakefield - I love the drama of staged lighting to create extraordinary depth, contrast and exciting, bold, value and color changes. Revieling the third dimension with strong visual communication. Sylva Zalmanson - Before I became a painter, before I even thought I could, I would look for long hours at the pictures painted by beloved artists and feel their deep pain. I felt that I was not the only one in this world that had a desperate need to make everyone cognizant of this sorrow. Can anything be more important than irresistible art luring and hypnotizing down through the generations with its mysterious riddle and its genius magic touch....

Lana Picciano - Musical compositions are everywhere in nature. Most of my inspiration for the artwork colors and compositions are derived from landscapes, their light, color and moodiness. The sounds, the colors, and the the quiet spaces, touch me and stir the energies of my soul. I connect to the spirit that lightens our hearts and feeds the soul. My work is upbeat and joyful. The colors are bright and can be very playful. The art takes on a life of its own and becomes one with the surroundings. Nature has many colors, sounds, rhythms and moods. All of them are inspiring are inspiring to me. The painting is borne from within and finds its life in visual art. I begin with small colorful sketches using pastels, guache, oil pastels, etc. The colors and shapes are pushed around on art paper until they begin feel right. Little by little the colors and shapes are worked and re-worked, pushed and pulled. Once I am satisfied that the identity of the sketch is clear, I translate onto canvas with oil paints. The oil paint medium when applied to the canvas creates additional changes. The oils are worked very thin in layers. As the layers ...

Kikuko Sakota - The recent themes of my paintings are imaginative world coming into my mind, while walking in hills and forests. Fresh air, smell of leaves and soils, color of greens, and singing of birds make me recall fairy tales: the witch living in the woods, dwarfs playing music, and so on. It is my bold attempt to interpret invisible but natural miracles into picture planes with my skills focusing on color employment, brushstrokes and composition for those elements. Please check out my website:

Christopher Brennan - My work typically uses rather barren urban landscapes and interiors as vehicles to portray an introspective and contemplative response to the mundane and commonplace. I put an emphasis on the drama of light and shadow, which serves partly to describe form, but which also becomes a metaphor for the passage of time and of our fleeting existence. Despite a somewhat believable look to the images, I work from a variety of sources, piecing together a range of imagery into a single work, and so the paintings become primarily invented and imagined. ...

Laurie Vaughn - Primarily, my inspiration is derivitive of the New York School art movement genre of abstract expressionism. Additionally, I incorporate expressionist painting influences, derived from the CoBrA art, German Expressionism, in creating my personal brand, of representational, expressionist painting. Taking formal techniques from the CoBrA and New York School art movement, I blend subliminal nuances emanating from sources of inspiration, that are as diverse as Japanese calligraphy to the tribal art, of the Dogon. Utilizing a layering of abstract expressionist painting applications, I reference the oevres of expressionist artists that includes: Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell, Willem deKooning, Hans Hofmann, Robert Motherwell, and lesser known, abstract expressionism art movement painters. Representational techniques have been strongly influenced by the bold, vibrant, and colorful expressionist painting genre of significant CoBrA art movement icons, including: Cornielle, Karel Appel, Rooskens, Eugene Brands, Lucebert and Asger Jorn.I prefer to work in mixed media, incorporating gesso, tempera, acrylic, enamel and oil on canvas. My goal is to create individual series, dominated by influences from a combination of artists, overlaid with my personal interpretation or social commentary on events that effect us all....

Sherry Harradence - Sherry M. Harradence Artist Statement: What inspires me is in the form of being challenged with Mixed Media Printmaking that uses a matrix such as plexi-glass plates, copper or blocks that produces one of a kind impressions that are most unique. Monoprint/Relief Printing has a history from as far back as the Masters, Rembrandt, Pablo Picasso, Albrecht Durer and many others. Multiple unique impressions printed from a single matrix are known as variable editions (original and ghost copies AKA). There are many techniques used in Monoprinting, including collagraph, collage, hand painted additions, and a form of tracing by which thick paint or ink are laid down on a monoprint press, registering the paper on the painted plate and passing through the press for the transferring of the paint or ink to the paper. Monoprints can also be made by altering the type, color, and viscosity of the ink or paint used to create different prints. Its a challenging medium and you are also painting in reverse. When I am pulling the first print/edition its like Christmas and cannot wait to see what is under the press blankets. My love for color is an obsession and expressed in ...

Areshidze George - There was a man, he came into being, and he lived He was born every morning and died every night. He created to see, otherwise he couldn't perceive People moved around him, and he painted their motions. People moved so fast that they saw only the visual side of things and made a big thing out of it. The man wasn't interested in that. Why? - Because he couldn't stop. He had no alternative. People thought he did what he did for pleasure, for beauty, others thought he had nothing else to do. Only one person knew what he was actually looking for and that person was him Who is hurt by permanent protest but the one who protests? I know that but only confrontation can reveal the truth And there was a Trout that swam against the current. As the time passed he felt the world around him. He used to go where the live emotions swam and caught them. Then he would return to canvas. Emotion deadly but short. In a few hours everything was over - the man was happy. But for half an hour only One hour passed and he would return to fishing on ...

Durlabh Singh - Sice R.Mutt's urinal, visual art in the western world has suffered a shock & a decline. It has become mere conceptual & has gone back to literary traditions of making statements.Abstraction has become a puritan's attitude of non-depiction of human body in a dignified form.My art is a sort of revolt against this kind of pseudo-intellectualism. My art takes account of both biological & metaphysical aspect of human body.It is a breakthrough to new levels of reality creating significant forms necessary for development of human spirit. I welcome any suggestions or comments regarding my work. If anyone is interested in buying please contact me.Main aim of my art has never been financial gains. I have exhibited all over the world including India, Kenya, Helsinki, Paris, London & New york etc.My work is in private & public collections incliding Ministry Of DefenceLondon & Horniman Museum London....
