  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Laura Walker - I am a quiet observer taking snapshots of occurrences in which subjects are unaware of their exhibitions of solitude or bliss. Everything that enters my focus is perceived in a way that resonates with my work. In my view of subjects in nature and urban settings, both share the common motif of wearing new. I take pleasure in transforming what may be perceived as disparging and portray the matter with an optimistic palate of oil paints, making light of reality....

David Cuffari - I approach my work as a visual poem. Sometimes the meaning is simple and direct and other times it's more complex. I prefer to create work that is open-ended allowing the viewer their own interpretation of what I present. I am primarily a painter preferring to work in acrylics as it allows me to make rapid revisions which helps keep the work fresh and immediate. The over-arching theme of my artwork is the human condition. I see the fabric of life as woven in opposites. By employing dualities like order/chaos, rough/smooth textures, themes of life/death, controlled effects/happy accidents, rational/irrational imagery, I try to paint interesting pictures that allow the viewer to see the world a bit differently. I am also interested in the notion of time. I don't believe that time is linear but more like an echo. I try to avoid static imagery preferring to create a complex painting that unfolds as you look at it, with layers of imagery and meaning. I do this by preserving the process of editing and revision as I arrive at the final image. Most recently I've been proceeding without a pre-conceived ...

Colleen Balfour - Welcome to my world of Art from Africa. All my paintings are created in response to the mood of Africa, or at times, the need to escape that mood. I am a self taught artist and continue to learn each time I pick up the paint brush......

Krizia Guerra - I am all about emotions and expression through art. Colors make it key in a work of art. I love to paint what I feel or what I am going through and to reach out to my viewers and connect with them. There are many different situations and personalities a person has or goes through and I like to break that down one by one in my work. The "B" Collection is a surrealism series of women with different characters, attitudes, color, moods and backgrounds. But they are all "Every Woman" in some way. My objective is that everyone can relate to these women and their personalities. The name "B" is politically correct for its real name "B_ _ _ _." The Romantic Series is an abstract series that has to do with relationships, the Good and the Bad of it all. The giving, the pain and the healing are the inspiration for these works to create an intimate connection with the viewer. The Tables are glass table tops that are painted backwards. You are able to have an artwork in your home or business that you can actually use. You may have it as a dining room table, coffee ...

Patricia Hunke - Every painting is new. A new possibility. A new challenge. A new vision, or sight. A new creation. Sight is the best description. Painting allows me to translate the sight of what I am feeling, whatever the particular subject. Subjects vary, for my interest lies in the flow of color and how they combine all on their own or by accident. I am intrigued by pattern, and experimenting in medium. The energy of movement that can be captured momentarily. All this amounts to translating what is inside onto the canvas. ...

Kathy Donofrio - My art is a way to organize in a visual form what I see and feel through my mind's eye. ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS SITE SUPPORT MY OUTDOOR ART INSTALLATION AT BURNING MAN 2014: "A Vortex for Vultures: ALIEN SANCTUARY"...

Nelson-Matheson Annette - I'm a self taught oil painter that's still not quite sure how to lable my art work. These recent painting are inspired by nature and the power of humans when in touch with their inner sense of intuition and imagination. I love the ideal of art nouveau figures reflecting the natural forms of nature and I try to include this idea in my latest paintings....

Vanya Vasileva - The last period of my work is oriented towards one different treatment of painting generally . I`m searching for some new techniques and materials as a base of structure and texture of my works. Mixed media is a provocation for any creative artist living in the time. My viewpoint about it is based on much more distraction , mechanics and tie elements , it`s one contemporary vision of Modern art....

Vanya Vasileva - Karen Dawson - My studio is full, with 30 to 50 paintings in the works at any given time. I've been a painter my whole life and an apprentice at a stained glass business for 9 years; that cross pollination, with mosaic, drawing and collage in the mix works out just fantastically. I believe in moving ahead on a variety of projects--art, social, intellectual and personal at any given time, and heed the warning: "He that sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly." Through all of my work I hope to promote empathy and world view in which entropy and emergence can coexist; but most of all, to promote HOPE. We need an injection of sanity into our lives, and art can do that for us all. ...

Christa Diepenbrock - A Collection of Broken Rooms are a series of my recent figurative paintings and collages. The work consist of my small personal hand- made collage studies and larger life sized paintings that explore the complex emotions surrounding lovers and their secrets keep silent by their home's walls. My collages are a combination of craft papers, fabric and hand drawn figures. The paintings are abstracted figured human dramas in which fabric is combined with oil. Each wall in our homes has seen untold amounts of human drama which relates to my idea that human emotions are imprinted onto the room's walls. My concern recently has been articulating in paint these narrative stories by placing abstract figures into the confines of a room . The sharp contrast between harsh angles of lines of the room with the organic figural forms hint at the human dramas that lie behind closed doors. The painted rooms becomes a stage in which families act out their stories. ...

Nermin Alpar - Sea and yatchs, fisher bouts, old houses, little mediteranin islands are main source of inspiration for me. Waters color, its light, its reflections--has fascinated me . Also womens, specially miesery womens are source of inspiration for me....

Mike Garibay - Works by this artist consists of random shapes and colors done in oil and oil pastels over large canvases. Other smaller works in oil and canvas/panels represent expressive detail in abstract. The artist Mural size projects are also available as well as very fine portrait detail works. ...

Karen Biko - I like to create art that expresses colour. Enjoying a work does not merely depend on what the picture is, but the feelings it can envoke. Abstract allows the viewer to see their own images in the frame, and read their own feelings into the picture. Often I have people come up and tell me what they see in my paintings, and then minutes later someone else tells me other things that they see. This is fascinating, and part of the reason that I love to work with the abstraction. There are no rules, just a sense of whimsy and freedom....
