Artists Describing Their Art:

Tahir Un - If art is a language to express myself, then inspiration ought to be the very life in which I am. And societal issues troubling me every so often, and sometimes my own dilemmas Lies in the foundation of all a moral and humanitarian urge to question, shaped by one's own ideologies. Indubitably to me, starting off with strong concepts devoid of mass-market meretriciousness, putting them in a story line and choosing the right material to ensure a firm expression make up the indispensable principles. I maintain that an artist, and naturally his work, can not be deprived of a reflection of his ideology. In a sense, your ideology is a prime source of your stance in life. Of course, fine art can result even without these concerns, but to me, art requires a process where life is taken more seriously. In my opinion unbiased art, or artist, can not really exist....

Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Markus Kruse - In Washington, Trump is mostly seen only when he chooses. At a lectern in the Rose Garden. Saluting as he boards Marine One. Behind the Resolute Desk of the Oval Office signing jumbo-sized executive orders, pushing his red button to summon a butler with Diet Coke or flashing a thumbs up from his high-backed cherry leather chair. But a nine-day, marathon foreign trip that concluded Saturday here in Sicily has offered the first extended aEUR" and often unfiltered, thanks to the steady stream of raw camera footage provided by his host countries aEUR" look at Trump on the world stage. Jon Glaser - There is something fulfilling about capturing a moment in time particularly as the sun makes its first or last appearance. My photographic work reflects an affinity for movement and sound; the latter reminiscent of a song, starting calmly, building strength, power and energy, until the shutter releases and the image is recorded as the ultimate crescendo. While I am most drawn to the grand landscape, my portfolio includes macro still life and abstract work as well, showcasing a relationship between color and light. NOTE: All of my photographs have been processed with Photoshop and Lightroom withlittle manipulation or adjustment. All colors are true of their location. In addition, I print all images using the latest technology, the highest-quality papers, and newest archival inks. All photographs include a 5mm white border to ensure proper handling that helps eliminate the potential for fingerprints. ...

Bob Bennett - All my work is done in a *very* simple, traditional darkroom - One enlarger, four trays, and a collection of hand tools made from things you can buy at any art supply, or hardware store. Though I work digitally (making web graphics), nothing in either the assignment or art portfolio has been made by a computer. I print only two or three'original' copies of an image, overwhelmingly on 16x20, in black and white. All color is by hand, a combination of watercolor, and Marshall oils. If you are an assignment client, that's your repro material. ( Everyone who has ever gotten it, has been'tickled pink'.) Art portfolio prints are made from 4x5 copy negatives of the'master/originals'. There are'second' master prints available, but not of every image. I've been doing this work since the early'80's, and I've written quite a few artists' statements about the art portfolio work. The more time goes by, the less aedequate words seem to be, and the less interested I am in trying to talk about the pictures at all. ( If words could'do it' ... I'd be a writer ... but you've noticed, I am not one....) ...

Alkistis Wechsler - Reality meets myths. Personal visual impressions of chosen English gardens ... lately also Mediterranean seaside, are coming together in imaginative collages and alchemic transformation. . Sensitive to the environment as well as to human interactions and expressions it all translates into visual myths . Not only travels between geographical points, but also a thirst for such trips in the mind through myths and readings of initiatic rituals of metamorphosis, infiltrated as well my art of painting. At the end, every archetype (for example Heliogabalus, Persephone and Artemis) and every movement reaches back to the source of rhythm and scales creating a personal mythology and so I understand my self and the world after each painting is done by a hypersensitive process and not a premeditated rational plan. The seasons or the elements and their rhythm are interwoven with my vision of human soul and the soul of the sea ...

Peter C. Brandt - My body of work is an accumulation of my life-time experience of photography, architecture and real estate, (a photographer and proprietor), all accomplished side-by-side over a period of 45 years. I have several portfolios: painted architecture, mirrored image architectural studies, abstract views, multi-exposed images, sectional studies as sculptures, and more; see my website! www.PeterBrandt.com My photography career started in an industrial photo studio. I was assigned to shoot pavilions for the International Worlds Fair; Montreal's Expo 67. Four years into this genre, I discovered fashion and advertising photography, all the while shooting for my personal interest of abstract graphic designs, and abstract views of architecture. At this time I wasn't aware this was also a body of work. After thirty odd years, while living in Manhattan, I returned to architectural photography and its' art. For the last 10 years, while I 'paint' my architectural images, I shut down my analytical mind and allow my emotion and instinct to direct my 'computer mouse' brush. I paint not in a conventional way. I oddly feel guilty for having so much fun in my new art career. I have been influenced by working with 'fine ...
