  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Pamela Henry - Miguel Balbas - aEURoeThe artist brings something into the world that didnt exist before, and he does it without destroying something else. John Updike. These artworks have never been seen before. The generic patient is victim of the excesses and exploitations of FarmNazi, a multinational pharmaceutical company whose ineffective solutions yield fat profits at the expense of the indescribable suffering of the patients that endure them. FarmNazi is a fictitious company, but its workings do not differ much from those of real multinational pharmaceutical companies, whose cancer-fighting products, in this case, are absolutely ineffective and cost exorbitant amounts. Patients are thus the guinea pigs of these abuses. Schemes, threats, pressure, blackmail, etc., are the order of the day, and the multinational companies are the ones to do and undo them as they please, depending on if their pharmaceutical remedies will bring them more or less profit. There are uncountable stories of drugs that have been recalled from the market because they are actually effective and, therefore, no longer of interest, because if they cure patients quickly, thereaEURtms no more business or drugs that are recalled because they are cheaper than another companyaEURtms, for example, a foreign companyaEURtms. Maria Natoli - Maria Natoli is an artist from Poland who was born wit a passion for painting and drawing. In the 1970s she graduated from Design at The School of Fine Art in Wroclaw-Poland. She had studying Design, Painting and Drawing at The School of Fine Art in Poland. The artist works with graphite, oils, pastels and photography as well. Maria had received a few awards in The United States till now. She says The world is creative and my sub-consciousness has no limit, so I am emotionally and energetically related to the source of life, colors, lights and non predictable human nature. Among these proposals from the world, I search for the truth about me in the context of nature and existence. I paint the beauty of the human soul, determination of life, beauty and music of the world where on canvas these values penetrate each other in perfect harmony. ...

Samira Nikfarjam - Using wide flat and colorful and sometimes dark space which shows the strength of the atmosphere of confidence behind the artwork and simultaneously, use of broken lines of the figure expressing a kind of suspension and existence depicts a kind of fluid flow of mind. I illustrate my sharp and critical look that is filled with invisible and expressive mind to express a suspension by using the lowest levels and lines and surfaces....

    Bridget Chase -

Denise Dalzell - Every image sparks a story. Each of us has a story to tell. What do we have in common What unites us, what binds us together Part abstract, part figurative, part illustration, my current work is about understanding the body language, relationships and stories that develop amongst people in social settings. My paintings develop from images that I collect during my travels. How do we, as people of differing backgrounds, cultures, and experiences interact with each other within the immediacy of a crowd How do we respond to one another How do we share the common experience of being in a mass of people who have come together to protest, to celebrate, to commemorate I work in Acrylic and Colored Pencil to fashion illustrations of these evolving stories. The excitement of being in a crowd united, of being in a smaller, more intimate group intrigues me. Are we different in these different settings If we are, why All of these settings, and the people involved in these relationships tell stories of our adventures. And my adventure is developing into so much more to be what I imagined it would be. ...

Caren Keyser - My expressionist paintings are done using an intuitive process. I begin with the paint and then allow the paint and my subconscious to lead me to the subject matter. Exciting interactions between colors evolve from brushwork, pouring, glazing, spraying and other techniques. I strive to show the essence of the subject rather than paint an overly realistic image. I never know what I will find next in my work. I hope it will be dramatic and emotional. Note that the paintings are not framed. ------------------------------------- I began painting professionally in 1977 after studying art at Florida Atlantic University. There I explored the many styles and techniques available to the acrylic painter. My first photo-realism style piece was created while attending FAU. I knew from that moment that realistic nature scenes would be my style of choice. This remained my theme and style until after 2005. As time has passed my work has changed and become more creative in its processes. Color is still the dominant feature in my work. As my focus has shifted toward expressionism I stored my realism pieces. The originals of many of them are still available for purchase and are included in my inventory here at ...

Raphael Perez Israeli Painter - Pride and Prejudice: on Raphael Perez's Artwork Raphael Perez, born in 1965, studied art at the College of Visual Arts in Beer Sheva, and from 1995 has been living and working in his studio in Tel Aviv. Today Perez plays an important role in actively promoting the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) art and culture in Tel Aviv, and the internet portal he set up helps artists from the community reach large audiences in Israel and abroad. Hundreds of his artworks are part of private collections in Israel and abroad, and his artworks were shown in several group exhibitions: in Tel Aviv Museum of Art, "Zman Le'Omanut" art gallery, Camera Obscura, The Open House in Jerusalem, Ophir Gallery, The Haifa Forum and other private businesses and galleries. In 2003-4 his paintings and studio appeared in a full-length movie, three student films and two graduation films. Raphael Perez is the first Israeli artist to express his lifestyle as a Gay. His life and the life of the LGBT community are connected and unfold over hundreds of artwork pieces. His art creation is rare and extraordinary by every Israeli and international artistic standard. His sources of inspiration ...

Daniela Bombelli - I always showed great interest in figurative art and music. In the creation process of my artworks, I use a great variety of gesture. So I often use the music to write poems, the sound of words to paint, a motion of the body to write a sonata and any pictorial technique to take and realize photographic images. A work of art is a creation of a new reality. A point of view. Our own. Ugliness is can be outrageously beautiful. Beauty is often emptiness. On the formalaesthetic level, I am always searching for the most efficient language. It can be old, new or both together. I am a supple artist. I think the artist is someone that is aware to openly take on himself the responsibility of his inner vision, his personal version of the world around. Directly, authentically, freely. Art is to be. If, as I believe, there is no difference between life and art, they both have inside all that is functional to accomplish everything. Life and art are unpredictable, surprising, terrifying, magical and always weird. To create life, and of course art, everything is useful without limitations. Ask yourself what you really want to create in ...

Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my visual art and also serves as a key element in the creation of my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as those my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, museums, and foundations. Upon locating a photographed scene that I wish to translate into etching, I first make several drawings based on that scene. Moreover, using photography allows me to balance documented visuals with my personal interpretations within everyday scenes. I strive to create a convergence between the metaphysical and physical aspects of perceived reality. My etchings attempt to unveil what we mask behind personal assumptions. In other words my scenes unveil what we overlook in the ordinary world. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice reality . . . or what I call the phenomena of connectedness . . . on todayaEURtms infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies. My artworks are windows through which people examine the mysteries of human consciousness. In fact, my use of multiple etching plates to create one etched design helps reinforce the illusion of seeing a scene through a window. Each individual area in my multiple-plate etchings becomes a windowpane separated by ...

Kathleen Flowers - As a multidisciplinary artist, Flowers' work is currently based on the idea of Design in Nature. Through the art of abstract, her content and inspiration often comes from the beauty found in nature that surrounds her on a day to day basis. The work focus on many themes that are symbolic and personal to her. The paintings are abstract, figurative and non-objective. Her paintings and drawing are filled with serene colors, painted with acrylic and other mediums giving them an aesthetic visual affect while appealing to the senses and are created to evoke a visceral effect from within. ...

Evon Johnson - I am a Jamaican born United States Artist. I have been drawing since I was a child with my main medium being crayons fond memories of getting lost in drawing and coloring everything from comics to portraits of Jesus. Bottom line I create art because it is something I love to do. I also love showing what I have created with others. I especially love the expression on peoples face while they are pondering the aesthetics of what they are looking at. Some of the artists that had an influence on my work were artists such as Andy Warhol, Henri Matisse, and Roy Lichtenstein. I also have an interest in photography, creating 3D Graphics and writing poetry. While I have a preference... more like a bias towards acrylic paints, I occasionally experiment with mixed media. My photography is never cropped or enhance with any software. They are always as the camera sees them at the time. I feel like whenever I get the perfect picture it is a special moment in time and should be presented as is. I hope the viewers enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed creating them. ...
