  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Denise Dalzell - Painting. Illustration. Expressionism. Pop Art. Modern. Realism and, occasionally, a bit of Abstraction. My current work centers on my consideration of how we respond to each other, the stories that develop between us and around us, and how our collective stories reflect on and influence us individually. How our stories bounce off each other and combine to create new stories. My paintings are illustrations of the scenes that I encounter during my travels abroad and in daily life so, some scenes are more sweeping than others. How do we, as people of differing backgrounds, cultures, and experiences interact with each other Are we different people in a crowd than when alone How do we fit in or stand out where we find ourselves at any given moment, in any given story Stories are everywhere, and thereaEURtms no predicting what theyaEURtmll reveal. Body language, movement, color, contrast combine to illustrate my scenes of interaction between people and within environments. The excitement of being a part of something as unifying as a protest, the sense of adventure that comes from starting out with no particular destination, intimate moments with those we love and those we discover in the big events...

Denise Dalzell - Kichung Lizee - After coming to this country from Korea in the mid 60's to study art, among the many forms of Western art that I was introduced to, Abstract Expressionism interested me most. Currently I am in the process of synthesizing Eastern and Western approaches to art. Specifically, I'm adopting the techniques and materials of Eastern calligraphy to Western thematic material, my primary goal being to close the gap between East and West and reach for universal creativity. Eastern calligraphy I learned is a living and breathing spirit, rather than the dead and rigid tradition of thousands of years. It is uniquely a form that conveys the pulsation of life energy. Through it, one can experience all aspects of the living spectrum. Eastern calligraphic form reveals the kind of life the artist has led, as well as foreshadowing the person one will become. It is the art form that manifests the self as a way of life or philosophy of life. It is a powerful art form that operates through direct intuition. As an artist I rely heavily on creative intuition. Moving with changes in the stream of consciousness, my creative intuition somehow brings out the subconscious and superconscious through ...

Hans Andre - Rarely do I willingly speak of my paintings. What I see is not necessarily the same as you see. The paintings should only be seen in the viewers own eyes. However, in my last solo exhibition during the fall in Milan, organized by Camaver Kunsthaus, an Italian asked why the people in the paintings are always blind. The answer is simple, although people may see physically, it does not make them look mentally. Unfortunately, most people are blind. Visit : www.hansandre.com...

Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my art and acts as a vital element in my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as from the images I find from my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, and museums. Upon locating a documented scene I wish to etch, my first step involves the execution of two to five original drawings of the photograph. My collaboration between photography and printmaking allows me the independence to integrate my personal interpretations into the scene. Moreover, I create bridges between the physical and metaphysical visual realities in the same way that a camera intersects with human creativity . . . the nexus between the mechanical and the cerebral art tools. Art unveils everything that we mask behind our belief systems conversely, I strive in my creations to clarify those phenomena we overlook as a result of our egocentric assumptions. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice things, a process I label, the phenomenology of connectedness, on todayaEURtms very infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies of social media. My artworks therefore become like windows through which to examine the mysteries of aEURoeeveryday consciousnessaEUR. In fact, my use of ...

Michael Fornadley - All my life I have been drawing images out of my imagination, without preconceived themes or using any reference material. My work has been described as undefined narratives, relating to human relationships in the context of society. Compositions are filled with figurative gestures, without any attempt to develop a narrative thread, it drives the viewer to find a completed story, however, an unscripted conclusion is what they will find. TitleaEURtms to my tales are literary allusions - commentaries, occurring after the paintings are finished and the storyline, to which the title refers is not a factor in the paintings evolution. I describe my style as illustrative with intellect, sometimes showing opposites through thought and emotion. I try to balance both. I have always enjoyed the Expressionists Movements in art and my work reflects this. My painting technique is traditional. The mediums I use are oils, egg tempera on wood and wood cuts. Distinctive to my paintings are figures running, persons gesturing, eccentric objects, mysterious boxes, and usually one person in the background watching impassively. I lead the eye through a theatrical space walls and stages. Moving the viewer, with head movement, to pointed fingers, to a figure by a peculiar...

Themis Koutras - MY JOB IN GOD THE TRINITY JEHOVAH CREATOR OF LIFE IS TO CREATE THINGS AS A ARTIST AND PLACE SCRIPTURE ON THEM TO RELATE IT TO THAT ITEM MY IDEA IS TO REACH OUT TO THE WORLD IN EVANGELIST REASONS TO GIVE OUT SOMETHING WITH A MESSAGE ON IT THAT RELATES TO THE WORK DONE AND FROM THE GOSPEL ALTHOUGH I MIGHT MAKE THINGS WITHOUT SCRIPTURE LIKE TOYS FOR CHILDREN TO HAVE FUN IN LIFE I WOULD THEN PRAY THAT GOD WILL TAKE A HOLD OF WHAT I DO AND LEAD ALL PEOPLE TO HIS SON HOLY THAT THEY BE SAVED SO ON FOR I RECON WE ALL NEED JESUS CHRIST...

Bob Dornberg - Art ELEMENTS include; relationships of objects, shapes, lines, spaces, colors, rhythm and balance. ELEMENTS are seen when observing any work. An artist should learn while observing, exploring and inventing. While subject matter is important, it should remain subservient to these ELEMENTS. MY WEBSITES:

Deborah Paige Jackson - I love art and design in all forms and medium, in every aspect of my life. It's a part of who I am and something I can't get away from. I try to use true to life situations when possible. My favorite medium is watercolor because of the beauty of it. It seems to have a life of it's own as it flows and connects with the paper. Yet, the medium forces me to think and use extraordinary control. I am at a point in my life where the thought of art, design, and all the components involved in them consume my thinking. It shows up in my home in decorating, in my garden with landscaping, in my work, even with my family. I look forward to increasing my art presence in my portfolio here and in as many venues as possible. To all who view my work, I wish you much enjoyment. ...

Raphael Perez Israeli Painter - Pride and Prejudice: on Raphael Perez's Artwork Raphael Perez, born in 1965, studied art at the College of Visual Arts in Beer Sheva, and from 1995 has been living and working in his studio in Tel Aviv. Today Perez plays an important role in actively promoting the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) art and culture in Tel Aviv, and the internet portal he set up helps artists from the community reach large audiences in Israel and abroad. Hundreds of his artworks are part of private collections in Israel and abroad, and his artworks were shown in several group exhibitions: in Tel Aviv Museum of Art, "Zman Le'Omanut" art gallery, Camera Obscura, The Open House in Jerusalem, Ophir Gallery, The Haifa Forum and other private businesses and galleries. In 2003-4 his paintings and studio appeared in a full-length movie, three student films and two graduation films. Raphael Perez is the first Israeli artist to express his lifestyle as a Gay. His life and the life of the LGBT community are connected and unfold over hundreds of artwork pieces. His art creation is rare and extraordinary by every Israeli and international artistic standard. His sources of inspiration ...

William Christopherson - The viewer sees a finished canvas. The artist relishes its journey of creation. A thought, a feeling, an experience, a place. These are the most essential of supplies as the artist tasks to expand, explore, and evolve along the path. All are welcome here, to view, appreciate contemplate, and possess the journeys I have made, and the journeys yet to come. Over the past several years I have explored the oil medium, borrowing technique from both historical and present day impressionism. Its a medium I love to work in, even though my wardrobe and studio surfaces have suffered immensely. Much of my work now reflects the pallet knife, and explores a prolific use of heavy colorful brush stroke. Everything continues to evolve, and thats a good thing Enjoy. William Christopherson, 2017 ...
