  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Kelie Myers - "Over the last several years I have created a body of work that is both diverse and stylistic. Having come from classical training when approaching a new work I first think of color and composition. However, weather I'm creating an oil painting, fine art print or a mixed-media piece bringing the viewer into the work through emotional response is what inspires me most. Mostly, I paint and create because I love it. Simple as that may be, but so true. I first fell in love with art as a "process" and I believe in the benefits of creating for creation sake. The empowerment and wealth of skills gained through pursuing one own creative spirit is a therapy for the soul unmatched by any other. Through the visual experience and teaching it is my passion to pass on this philosophy."...

Nina Gabriel - Nina Gabriel Artist's Statement "May our walking on Earth be gentle as the Union of a Butterfly and a Flower" Traditional Buddhist Blessing Rainbows are the same all over the world, and, they are the same at any time we look at them. Our perception of them is, however is different every time we see them and it is ever - changing, according to our mood, feelings and state of mind. My earliest recollection and recognition of rainbows goes back to when I was a little girl, sitting beside my grandfather, at his famous desk where he used to make amazingly interesting and beautiful things. At the same time, he taught my brother and me the colors of the rainbow and that is where it all began - my love for beauty, color and art for things of beauty and for things that were left for us to interpret. I felt connected to nature and its boundless beauty since my childhood. I also enjoyed making things - of clay or any other media. My grandfather taught us many of those techniques and approaches to expression. From my grandmother, I learned crochet, embroidery and some sewing. Later on, I learned to work with ...

Kelly Parker - Kelly Parker is a contemporary mixed media artist working with a varied mix of items, some of which include paper, oils, acrylics, clay, and other natural and man-made materials. Currently, Kelly is working in oils creating colorful, abstract landscapes and black and white handpulled prints. You can see more of her work www.kparkerdesigns.blogspot.com Kelly also takes paypal please email her directly for available work, payment on a work of art or to inquire about a commission. ...

Kelly Parker - Nadezhda Nedeva - In my works I combine depth and vibrancy of colour with the symbolic appearance of objects and shapes. I am looking to represent the shape of the senses - smell, touch, taste, sound - what they look like, what colours, and what textures. From a chaotic mixture of colours I bring out my objects - existing, as fruit, vase and fish, or imaginary as dwarfs from the fairytales, different characters and happy strangers. I often like to leave them unfinished, and they are not always logically related. Working this way I aim to bring out the inner nature of things, their presence indirectly, as it is in our dreams, subconscious ness, or memory. I like provoking the viewer's imagination. I aim to create a parallel world of things that not only belong to the reality, but also appear in a highly metaphorical and suggestive manner. My obsession is the colours at the first place. I have been working mainly with worm, bright and vibrant colours to achieve positive and sometimes cheerful moods as well as the impression of depth. I blend my colours as well as working in contrasts. I rub on to the canvas clean and transparent colours, I scrape them ...

Denys Katz Harvell - The inspiration of my work comes from my love to travel and explore nature. During my travels, or perhaps because of them, I have explored many facets of my artistic style and subject matter. I first began to utilize oil paints after inspiration born in a dream, and the subject of my art changed to include landscapes. My paintings reflect the feelings I experience of being lost in nature and a break from the stress of other aspects of my life. These landscapes illustrate a close up view to share my joy and love of the environment. The beauty of nature inspires me and I am moved to paint the vibrant colors of fall, old barns, a California sunset, or a waterfall in Alabama. My love of being outdoors has transpired into art that mimics the beauty in the natural world. I discover more of myself as I continue to paint, regardless of the subject matter. ...

Lyn Mccallop - I love abstract art; that is cubism, expressionism, and neoplasticism. I have been painting for over 15 years and enjoy the process of creating abstract images, the colors, and the brush stroke. The joy of painting for me is on a deep level where I let my inner psyche and mental energy direct my hands and hope that the viewer will be influenced by the painting. I was born and raised in NY, but now make my home in NJ where I work full time and paint every other waking moment. Favorite artist's abstractionists are Pollock and Kandinsky....

Mike Carr - My name is Mike Carr. I began working with charcoal and gouache in the late 1980's, and continued through the latter part of the 90's, recently switching to oils. I am, for the most part, self-taught, receiving limited art instruction while in college. My favorite artists are all of the French Impressionists from the late 1800's, and several of the contemporary American Plein Air painters, whose style and techniques provide a constant challenge. Please see my link to www.mnartists.org to view several other paintings, however, you will need to click to enlarge at this site to view them clearly--for some reason. ...

Bud Cassiday - Known for his watercolors and colorful abstract acrylics, Bud has always loved art, artists, and their contributions to culture but has been working at it for only about 3 years. In 2004, at the age of fifty-three, Cassiday turned to art. "I'd always wanted to be an artist -so after ending a long time career as a union organizer, I started painting day after day and night after night. A thousand paintings later, I'm still discovering creativity in myself that I thought I had, but needed to dig down to, reveal, and express." On the American scene, I am constantly amazed and influenced by well known artists including Mary Cassatt, John Singer Sargent, Childe Hassam, Maurice Prendergast, Robert Henri, Hans Hofmann, Edward Hopper, Charles Demuth, Georgia O'Keefe, Charles Burchfield, Grant Wood, Stuart Davis, Mark Rothko, Willem De Koonig, Arshile Gorky, Lee Krasner, Franz Kline, Jackson Pollock, Grace Hartigan, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Frank Stella, David Hockney, and many currently working artists not so well known. On the European side, I am influenced by the modern greats: Matisse, Picasso, Macke, Kandinsky, Cezanne, Roualt, Van Gogh, the Fauvists, the Impressionists, the Expressionists, and many...

Maristha Schellink - I create spiritual art - describing humans as spirit, energy and light. My paintings reflect my spiritual aspirations, experiences and journey. Colours are what I enjoy most about painting. The colours and forms create a vibration that the viewer can share. I have grouped my paintings into themes. I love runes, so I've chosen runic symbols as themes. The Isa series - The Isa rune is winter, cold and ice. It represents rest before activity, potential and possibility. It's the still form before the irresistible force. The Jera series - The Jera rune is change, development and reward. The reward comes from not fighting the changes, but accepting it. The Eihwaz series which symbolises a transformation process is about light - letting your light shine. Berkana is about new beginnings and growth. And connecting to others, sharing light and nourishment - sowing seeds of light. I enjoy creating my work on triangular support frames. For me a triangle symbolises the spiritual ascent of humans and our many facets. I like to describe my paintings with original haiku. It gives another dimension to the visual images. ...
