  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Animesh Roy - "I don't pretend that I paint because I want to say something or convey a message. So, please don't read any hidden meanings into my paintings. I paint because I like to portray the happier side of life -- beautiful landscapes, for example -- because I think that there are enough artists painting the morbid side." "I love to travel because that's where the so-called inspiration comes, so I hope to travel more, paint and be generally happy." -- Excerpt from an interview....

Lisa Reinke - Recognize yourself, someone, everyone and no one in my faces - celebrate color in the shape of a nose, the curve of the ears, the mask of the eyes, and the lines of the lips and hair. Most of all remember the humanity in humanity. The human face inspires me. As humans, we respond to its image beyond all others. For all its familiarity, we rarely pause to consider the face as a visual form, something more than the recognition of a friend or an interaction with a stranger. I paint the face in ways to cause the viewer to reconsider its splendor and renew faith in all things human. Colors and sunlight playing across faces remind me of our connection to the universe and symbolize eternal and fleeting moments simultaneously. I love how we recognize and explore human faces for clues to identity and personality. I am happy to be creating my work and hope that my art inspires you to look around and see the world as a vibrant and exciting place where the most amazing patterns are on display all the time. Lisa Reinke ...

Nick Stull - My work involves painting and drawing portraits of'figurative situations' that blend both realistic and abstract elements. I am interested in experimenting with composition, color, and paint application to elicit an emotional response from the viewer. The portraits and figurative scenes I construct serve as a vehicle of expression for aspects of the human condition, such as isolation, fragmentation, and disorientation. With an idea in mind, I often start a painting in reference to a set of photographic sources. Using photos as a point of departure, I then will often work and rework a painting, while letting happy accidents trickle in. The result I aim for is using the paint medium to give my figures an immediate presence that goes beyond the photos documentation of that individual. ...

Dariya Afanaseva - All my works are dedicated to the themes of relationship and sensation translated on a language of painting. For example, relationship between people. Relationships human about him/her self and to outward things. And some of my works are about memories and thoughts. And also it is interesting for me to reproduce an eluding moment, an impression in a matter of seconds, fragments of life. Just because everything depends on nuance. Three main styles I work in are abstractionism, expressionism and a bit of pop-art. But these styles are not just as they are, it`s always a combination of them. Some of my Abstract works represent things that aren't visual, such an emotion, mood, feeling, sound and so on. These works are very association. My figurative abstractions are simplifications of reality, where detail is eliminated from recognisable objects leaving only the essence or some degree of recognizable form. Some works are expressive. I just let my intuition guide me. Not to thinking, not to be doubt of anything. It is about trusting the process and setting free the instincts. And also I like decorativeness and beauty of coloring. My choice of medium are acrylic and mixed media ...

Philip Goodrich - I strive to create lasting images that transcend trends. I want to perpetually travel the earth in search of perfect waves for surfing, and beautiful subjects to immortalize in my paintings. When I push the limits of my physical body, it releases my mind to relive incredible moments of my life. As I stand and draw, these memories guide my hand and I begin to groove and flow....

Leyla Murr - I am an artist whose desire to express has been incubating for a number of years. I feel I have an endless well of images inside me and each journey consists of spontaneous steps leading to a new adventure. This is how I view my life and my art. Colours and feelings cement the process. It is up to the viewer to find me. ...

Fotini Hamidieli - In all of my current work I basically use the same technique with a few variations of the materials. I approach works on paper in the same way as works on canvas using different kinds of paper mostly transparent and creating layers by juxtaposing various qualities of paper and colour. During this process I start working on the composition which sometimes can be covered up and later again be revealed somewhat changed. This way the work is kept fluent, continually changing. Inks, acrylic paint, oil crayons, watercolour pencils, charcoal are used to achieve desired effects. A few words about the subject For many years I've been painting figures of women. These women have been changing and growing at the same time I did, expressing things I felt. There are different series of works presented here but their subject is relative as the main theme deals with mirrors. A mirror may not actually be depicted in every work but what is pictured can be seen as a mirror image, even as an image of the spectator ...

Cristina Ciobanu - Cristina Ciobanu Statement It's very difficult to resum my artistic emotions and works in words. It was a time when I wrote poems and I wanted to be a writer. Then I discovered the world of colours and forms and I begun to express myself easier and spontaneous in drawing and painting. I've started with difficult study of nature. Still lifes and human body. Then composition. The ceramic and its tehnology . Graphics. And the visual art language became my preferate way of expresion. My connection with the real nature of things became often an ABSTRACT COMPOSITION revealing universal rythms . And here is a poem about my way to paint I fix my eyes on YOU GOD I leave no traces of the Real And I'm not afraid of Colour I begin with Chaos Naturally The Colour through me Is working for an image of Another World I'm going on Towards Surprise 2012...

Dina Elsayed Imam - I've always found a great satisfaction in the action of watching and in turn in the process of recreating the experience. This continuous process of understanding through visual experience made my work lean towards a more personal and expressionistic style. But that kind of expressionism sprouts out of a genuine desire to transfer a much more realistic truths about what I depict in my paintings. I make no attempt to constrain my interest in a single subject matter. but till now My main concerns lay with the human body and its surrounding space & objects. ...

Enrique Servin - Enrique Servin. Contemporary Mexican Artist. Enrique's style isn't defined by a school or art movement, they're emerging new things all the time, changing is always occurring, "I have to be changing, and I have to paint that" is some of his favorites phrases, Last 2 series called "beast series" and "multiplicity series" have been very well accepted, some of beast series are on sale at Saatchi Gallery at London, and some of the new multiplicity series are on sale in the French Gallery ArtandYou. Enrique Servin is conforming a really defined and mature style, conforming what he is, and always searching and changing so his art is always honest with himself and what surrounds him. Actual series "multiplicity" and "Clown series" are waiting for an Solo ARTSHOW. ...

Martha Ramirez - When you close your eyes, you see with your heart. Look into my heart through my paintings. My abstract figurative paintings always have their eyes closed as if deep in dreamy thought of what they could be if they would only risk change. My painting style is one of "meridians". These one of a kind original abstract acrylic portraits are painted with the body's yin yang meridian positive and negative energy of the day that inspired me to pick up a brush and express myself. The effect is almost stained glassed and mainly "yang" directed with a focused, logical, and action oriented energy which flows from the sun and runs from the fingers to the face. I am a self-taught artist currently concentrating on being possessed and prolific in my art with a focus on abstract acrylic figurative "meridianed" paintings. See more of my art and read more about me at

Rae Marie - My artwork is primarily created using pastels on suede. Over the course of 5 years I have found many new techniques to get the desired efects I am looking for. My true passion is the wildlife and Native American art. As you explore my portfolio you will see a variety as I explore and find new challenges through diversity in my subject matter. I am intrigued by realism but there is a another side of me that wants a release to just let the colors flow. By doing this, I find a rejuvination when I go back to the realistic mode. Cheers and enjoy! Rae Marie ...
