Artists Describing Their Art:
Austen Pinkerton - Artists Statement Austen Pinkerton If I turn my mind to it very quickly I can come up with several ideas for works aEUR|paintings, drawings, or sculptures. Sometimes ideas come to me when I least expect it, or when my mind is on other things. Ideas can be related to my current experiences, or to my feelings about things that are happening to me in my life at that particular time. Alternatively they can be related to a current interest, or something that occupies my attention at that moment, and my ideas and feelings about which Id like to share with others. A lot of my work is autobiographicalaEUR|either directly or indirectly, consciously or subconsciously. It is frequently very personal, and expresses events or circumstances or experiences in my life. I usually work in either Acrylic on Canvas, Crayon or Pastel, or both together, with Gouache, on card, Drawing in pencil, or Ink, or both, or with creating SculptureaEUR|for which I use fired artists clay. Sculpture follows a completely different set of rules and values from two-dimensional art, obviously, I think of it as Drawing in three dimensions and I take this into account when creating mine. Mario Ortiz Martinez - The main distinction of an artist is, or should be, insanity or, at least, the tendency to think and do absurd, showy, original and little comprehensible things for the common man. In particular, what attracts me the most is sharing my work, to the point of asking for very low prices. simple peanuts sometimes or flatly give it to those who appreciate it. Try me. This site requires a price standard. Very understandable and logical. But I would never refuse a reasonable offer. Just thinking about continuing, about having a penny to buy more colors and keep producing. Even when my works consist of a simple paper and in a small format, I always want to show my commitment to people, in order to brighten up a small corner of the house and invite reflection on the beautiful, the harmonious, the good vibes of the world. Some of these works have served as a study for large-format painting, but I have to honestly say that the study always looks better than the enlarged copy. In art, the first impulse, the first pictorial phrase, the first flash of inspiration, the first painted word that comes from the heart, is the ...
Tom Lund-Lack - I am an experienced artist whose work uses the power of imagination to find find the essence of the subject.A It is grounded in the need to celebrate life, and to portray the subject through the transforming power of colour and light. Arrangements of shape, line, pattern and colour are brilliant at conjuringA up powerful expressions, sometimes these can be dreamlike and at peace sometimes exciting and dramatic. My work does not always represent an actual moment, place or object in time, but they areA the result of a process of reflection, recollection and reinvention, a distillation of experience. Art is a very small word having the widest possible meaning appreciation is a subjective judgement and no artist or workA can please everyone.A My aim is to please at least some of you and I am very confident that this aspiration is achievable ...
Jyoti Thomas - I feel passionate about creating in many different forms and mediums but I'm predominantly a painter. My art comes from my inner world giving a voice to thoughts and emotions that can't always be adequately expressed in other ways. I am always in awe of the deep power of creativity to heal and bring deep insight. Most of my works are rich in colour and symbols and are an emotional and soul felt interpretation of the world within me and around me. The works shown here are from several bodies of work those being Meet Anita, Gifts of Descent, Below the Surface, Fragments, Oceans of Choice. and Night Sea Journey. My artwork has been a constantly changing river of works following the journey of my life, through good times and difficult times and has always been a refuge and a deep love. While the artwork just IS in its own right I also hope that it taps into others experiences of life and links us together in our common humanity. I love art just for its own sake and nothing else in my world has the ability to lift my heart and soul like making art does. I ...
Lou Posner - Dear Friends, The Posner Covid-19 sale of the past year has closed. To those who took advantage of the price breaks during the sale, congratulations on pocketing a tidy sum. Since I have not updated my price list here in well over a decade I thought I would take this end-of-the-year opportunity to do so. Updating the prices is a tedious and time-consuming process. I have to research current trends in the national and worldwide art market, examine auction results, research what art critics are saying about what is being shown, what the art magazines are writing about, what the vector and availability of art supplies is, etc. in order to arrive at fair market prices for my works. I feel glad for those patrons of mine who have enjoyed my work in their homes and workplaces over the years while they have seen a healthy increase in the market value of the work. I sold my first painting over 50 years ago for 25. Today, although the prices are higher, the bargains are still there, backed up by 50 years of experience at the easel. As you know buying here on absolutearts cuts out ...
Anita Zotkina - I have been painting my whole life. Creating art is time-consuming, messy, and underappreciated, but I do it anyway, because this is how I express my understanding of life. My art focuses mostly on women and animals, and their life journeys. Since childhood I was fascinated by strong and independent women. I found them to be generous, wise, and extremely humorous. I enjoyed listening to their stories about the meaning of life and keeping up with the chores. Being a single mother, I recognized how challenging it is to work, take care of the kid, study, and stay open-minded and thoughtful. In my paintings I am trying to capture life, mental torment, enlightenment and peace from a womanaEURtms perspective. Very often I add animals to my paintings, to create a cozy mood. As a child, I spent a lot of time outside, playing with stray dogs and cats, or in a field looking for butterflies and grasshoppers. Those were the best times. The animals I spent time with were my extended family, and I always felt safe with them. So, adding animals to my paintings, is like adding a thought of your favorite relative that conveys nothing ...
Donna Gallant - Art is a daily routine in my life. I see, hear, taste, feel and smell the life that surrounds me and I am inspired by the simplest aspects of this world. Whether it be the way the light hits an object or the way objects or forms move in space. I find it all so fascinating and alive. I try to portray these experiences and expressions through my art making....
