Artwork Description:   PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK INCLUDES A BLACK WOOD FRAME AND WHITEARCHIVAL MAT. The frame measures 11 inches high by 14 inches wide. This etching, from the 1st of 4 Editions, employs two zinc plates to create one printed image. I incorporated the studio techniques of Aquatint, intaglio, Chine colle, and drypoint, and the plates required four separate Nitric acid baths. Each edition will be limited to only five etchings. Moreover, each of the four editions will be executed in different color combinations of paper and ink. I blended three colors of oil base ink, Charbonnel brand from Paris, and printed on RivesBFK white paper. Each etching plate measures 4 inches wide by 6 inches high, or 10.160cm by 15.240cm. The image size is 6 inches high by 8 inches wide, or 15.240cm by 20.320cm. The framed etching is 14 inches wide by 11 inches high, or 38.100cm by 27.940cm. I treated a mulberry bark paper from Thailand with my own blend of methylcellulose to use in the Chine colle process. The works were hand printed and published at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA within The Open Studio In Printmaking at 705 Christian Street. The scene features a scene from New Orleans. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap.
