Artists Describing Their Art:

Joseph Piccillo - aEURoeIn my work and life, IaEURtmm seeking my true self. Using subjects familiar to me, in abstract or representational, I explore that which moves me. My work comes from what I see aEUR|the abstracts surround me.aEUR , states Joseph Piccillo. His willingness to observe, feel, learn, and work from nature manifests the depth and sensitivity this artist has developed towards his subject. Working in acrylics and watercolors, PiccilloaEURtms works convey a mood of quiet monumentality, sensitivity and subtle strength. Skillfully executed, abstract, yet hinting at the representational, Piccillo has immersed himself in the process of painting, continually adjusting his feeling for space, light and form demonstrate his keen sense of perspective and insight into composition complimented by subtle color variations. Alkistis Wechsler - Reality meets myths. Personal visual impressions of chosen English gardens ... lately also Mediterranean seaside, are coming together in imaginative collages and alchemic transformation. . Sensitive to the environment as well as to human interactions and expressions it all translates into visual myths . Not only travels between geographical points, but also a thirst for such trips in the mind through myths and readings of initiatic rituals of metamorphosis, infiltrated as well my art of painting. At the end, every archetype (for example Heliogabalus, Persephone and Artemis) and every movement reaches back to the source of rhythm and scales creating a personal mythology and so I understand my self and the world after each painting is done by a hypersensitive process and not a premeditated rational plan. The seasons or the elements and their rhythm are interwoven with my vision of human soul and the soul of the sea ...

Kateryna Bortsova - I think that art means confrontation between life and aesthetics. It is a hard struggle for both of them. Ant the understanding of art is one of the main artistaEURtms working specialties. In the modern multipolar and multinational world art and art objects got dissolved in the routine human life. After Marcel Duchamp created a aEUR~readymadeaEURtm art in the 1940s we may be sure that we may find art objects around us without any force. But in order to make an art object of a simple spoon or staple there shall be need a creator aEUR" a man with endless fantasy, who sees not a dirt but a star in a pool, as Immanuel Kant said. Any person may get technical skills and practice of creating a picture by means of hard work. But not everyone may fill their work with philosophic sense, with such images which would enchant audience for ages. Now the only factor of art modernity is that it is present in art galleries and in the Internet. ...

Joseph Frommer - aEURoeIf you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, then the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your bliss and donaEURtmt be afraid, and doors will open where you didnaEURtmt know they were going to be.aEUR Joseph Campbell aEURoeThe role of the artist is to transmit to humanity the deepest experience of reality. Art is remembrance. It is love. It is like a sword that distinguishes between appearances and reality, or a cradle that reminds us of home. The purpose of an artist is to reveal the presence of consciousness through the medium of the senses. So in this respect the artist has a special responsibility. He or she has to simultaneously make manifest the ongoing results of this enquiry in form. So the role of the artist is to provide a way that this presence can be approached and experienced through the senses. The scientistaEURtms job is to provide a true model of reality, a true model of the universe. The artistaEURtms job is to provide a means whereby this reality can...

Daniela Isache - Expressionism is my way to show the world as I see it. Since I was young, I looked at the world differently from my friends. I saw a strange world, wondering why the other people did not see it like me. The world I saw was unjust and made of unhappiness. Looking profoundly at the people's faces, I found them very expressive and I was stroked by their strange traits. I have never seen beautiful or ugly faces but only very expressive ones. Then, I began to paint these faces and I met my future love - Expressionism. At that time, I discovered and understood that the expressionist painting could express the life as I see it. I applied my Expressionism without making any concession to the beautiful or decorative painting. I applied it with force and sometimes with despair. However, when finishing a painting I felt released. I felt as if all my pain and troubles came out of my life. The dramatic motifs I found in everyday life created insurmountable interrogations and tensions. I became calm, but when I looked at my painting, I saw there fear, sorrow and I understood that my Expressionism saved me. Some people ...
