Artists Describing Their Art:
Bev Haring - Just about anything can be the inspiration for my work. Living in the moment and seeing the design possibilities in nature, architecture and other art forms provides an endless source of ideas to be interpreted. I am a self taught artist. Since I was very young I have enjoyed working with my hands, to me there was nothing better than that next bigger box of crayons. After 30 years in corporate jobs, I am happy to have returned to the pleasures of creating new things with new materials that present themselves. I refer to my work as "painting with beads" and "art to wear". As I grow in my craftsmanship and explore new materials and techniques, I continue to create diverse one of a kind pieces. I say with pride that my pieces are all created in my studio with my own hands....
Niels Ellmoos - Artist Statement I work in most two dimensional mediums (painting, drawing, computer art as well as three dimensional mediums (including video installation, and sculptural ceramics). In the two dimensional works I consider the work to be'spiritual' in nature as often the images manifest through a combination of meditation and sub-conscious energy. Often I begin the process of creativity not knowing what the image is going to end up looking like. The first lines and marks can resemble a child's drawing, generally loose in structure. As the work progresses and the energy builds in a stream of consciousness - an image which is recognisable emerges. To date , landscape and variations of landscapes are the resultant images although spiritual figures have appeared during the process. ...
Obert Fittje - In addition to the mythology of our culture, we all have certain experiences, expressions and images that have deep personal significance and meaning. These form the foundation of our personal mythology. Some of us have richer and more elaborate personal mythologies than others. Recently I came to the realization that I was mainly painting the images of my own personal mythology. I am self taught as a painter and after painting for eleven years, I consider that to my advantage as the icons of my mythology are rarely something out there in the material world. My paintings lie somewhere between the presence and the absence of an identifiable image. It would have been a waste of time for me to have spent years learning the techniques to make my paintings look realistic because the subjects of my mythology are mostly imaginary. I do not go outside to nature to find the subjects of my paintings, but rather I paint inside using my imagination and the images of my personal mythology. As a retired professional psychologist, I have been trained in the use of projective tests such as the Rorschach Inkblots where the observer is presented with purposely-vague images. The ...

Helen Musser - Art is the very essence of our being. It is the visible evidence of our intrinsic nature The artist executes his work in accordance with inner values and beliefs he or she hold dear. Painting is a joy and an artform to be shared. I want to connect with the viewer and remind him of the many facets of his life. Our inner life has become very important to my art,the spirit of man,I hope to show. That part of man that will never die. ...
Agnes Dodart - My creation process involves a personal journey made of furtive impressions and elusive thoughts or feelings from deep within. With the combined magic of memory, association and imagination, ideas and visions flow intuitively along the path. I think of my art as visual poetry, as a glimpse into my soul. Sharing it is an invitation for viewers to pause and explore their own inner landscape. Artist Statement In my representational work, I enjoy creating eye-catching pictures that blend vagueness and subtle details with sharpness and contrasts. My creations often echo some of my favorite themes in science-fiction & fantasy literature, and also reflect my interest in philosophy and metaphysics. Addressing the subconscious and the imagination, I combine hyperrealism and surrealism to form unusual scenes that broaden the notion of reality and blur its boundaries. My abstract work is about composing distinctive and stimulating designs where beauty lies in harmony and balance. I use mostly fractal imagery because I am drawn to its immediate visual impact and to the game of exploration it involves. As I play endlessly with shapes and textures, colors and tones, movement and light, I focus on the aesthetic rhythm that will unite elements into compelling...
