Artists Describing Their Art:

Althea E Jenkins - Hello My Name is Althea E Jenkins I have loved art and painting pictures all my life. I just recently became passionate about it. I have a world renowned Painter and Artist teaching me some of his secrets and the techniques he knows. His name is Mr. Andrew Krance. He is well known in the art world and has been in the art trade for more than 50 years. With 2 degrees. He has shown his works of art in New York City and many renowned galleries. . He says I have a natural talent and actually that some may think that I am a better artist than he is. Yes his Actual words. What he said was the greatest compliment of my life and has inspired me to do my best. I do not know about this his comparison . I do know that my passion has grown and flourished under his tutoring. I have shown my Art work along side his at the Sterling Art Gallery in Dunedin Florida in the month of August 2017. I have sold some of my work to private collectors recently and hope to sell many more. My Mentor Mr. Andrew Krance has said he ...

Vladimir Volosov - I was born in 1937 in Leningrad, USSR (now St. Petersburg, Russia). My way to art was a lengthy one. Before becoming an artist, I studied for thirty years at the forefront of modern physics as a PhD scientist and professor, author more than 150 scientific articles in contemporary laser physics. Thirty years of strenuous scientific work on the front edge of modern physics gives me a deep feeling for the anxiety and unprotectedness of the world's beauty. The formula, "beauty saves the world" fits my own attitude. My creed is also embodied in the statement: "to have time to realize everything given to you by Nature." At the threshold of my fifties, I decided to live one more life, a new, alluring life of the free artist. I walked away from my established scientific career and completely devoted myself to painting. In 1991 I founded and headed the association "Light, Color and Art" to connect with scientists engaged in the arts. The main directions of my paintings are lyrical realism and abstract compositions. My paintings are about light, color, atmosphere and space. For me, the most important elements are light and color and their juxtaposition/nexus/meeting of...

Mijal Zachs - My work is a tautological investigation on painting. I started it while reflecting on the representation and simulation of reality, transforming the pictorical realm with the strategies of camuflage. Here, painting is not part of the context, but it's rather created as the support and is mediated by the interlocutor aEUR" the observer. The painting moves seducing the canvas and, as it advances, it copies itself in a mimetic manner and it represents itself as if it were a reflection. The mirror reproduces in a game of viewing, pretending to see itself but being someone else; a subtle vail that faces its condition of mask, guiding us towards reality....or maybe not. Through this investigation I have found different surroundings: from fabrics with given patterns, to tapistries, papers and woods. All of them have relinquished to me their condition and I have established with them a dialogue. The painting, loyal to its author, creates new strategies as it progresses and it developes through roads that intersect with each other and deliniate new trails. Its discourse moves forward with the aEURoeIaEUR being aEURoethe other.aEUR When I intervene without hiding the fabric's pattern, I develope an equilibrium that creates the ilusion ...

Sergey Lesnikov - Old things fascinate - wood, metal, stones, cobweb of craquelure on old varnish .. the way time worked on them. Perhaps as proof that Time is material, and has value in itself. Once, looking at the massive hundred-year-old board from the old house, I imagined all those works on the wood panels, from icons to painting, which we never saw, that left, disappeared, lost in time. How could they look like Then I came to idea to make such a thing, looking like a found artifact, with fragments of old painting on ancient piece of wood. So I have created it, and continue working now.. Additional technical education helps to find new and new technological solutions, and now every work is physically unique, because of the uniqueness of the key element - old wood, and because of the peculiarities of the process. Nowadays, when so many people are interested in medieval style, fantasy and pseudo-historical stories- from The Lord of the Rings to the Game of Thrones, such kind of works are interesting, arenaEURtmt they Such as they could be, if they existed in reality and reached our days.. Im always in search- of new approaches, new materials, sometimes ...

Denise Dalzell - For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to stories. They are my part of an exchange. An Interaction. A conversation. If one definition for the word Element is "A place where one feels comfortable", then my current work is a consideration of how to discover one's element, where one fits in. Where I might fit in. As a child, I loved projects that involved telling a story with an image. Images of scenes, of places, of occasions, and of objects collected. The images that make up my stories come from what catches my eye. Stories that welcome another person to join in, to add their experiences and become a part of the story. Scenes that allow one to connect their own dots, to fill in their own blanks, to create a shared scene, a new story. My focus is experiences from my travels. I've realized that the perspective that I gain from these travels also includes my everyday life. I employ Acrylics and Colored Pencils to compose contrast, and lighting to illustrate these stories. Each of my pieces depicts an independent scene. When several of these scenes are strung together, they become components of...
