Artists Describing Their Art:

Benyamin Maimon - The main painting style is Surrealism. Featuring a range of works in oil, acrylic, pencil, and charcoal. Perfect world In my world, I am always wondering why we look and behave as we do. I think that humans could look different if evolution had taken a different path. I visualize that we could have been two persons in one body, able to live a "normal'' life. But then, ask yourself what is normal? ......

Joanne Mac - J.Mac The" Found object Composed" of surrealist theory meets a vigorously tempered treatment at the hands of J.Mac. While her cognizance of "what the contemporary art world was rebelling against and inventing for itself" fuels her view of the extant condition of culture with sardonically cutting and amusing wit J.Mac's appreciation for the traditional lines of classic beauty salves her edges with a relief of grace - Justice tempered with mercy. "I use my talents to reflect what I see in the world around me; whether it be politics of living, or the social ramifications of our environment, or the humor I observe in our human frailties. I translate my theories into the plastic and figurative sculptural form " - Excerpts from "New Art International" Volume IV, Published in U.S.A, New York by Book Art Press, Ltd 1998 ...

Dennis Howell - As you already know, my name is Dennis Howell. I have been drawing since elementary school. I continued up until I Graduated from High School. I left art alone pursuing various jobs. When I got tired of that I joined the U.S. Air Force. I served about 5 yrs. then I got out. The reason for the extra year was due to an extended long tour in Germany. For those landscape artists, you really need to go to Germany. I really enjoyed the traveling. What I love most about joining the Air Force and being overseas is that I found God. I was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost at Bethel United Pentecostal Church in Sept./90. From then on I have been learning the ways of God. And one of those ways is using the talent that he has given me, both to glorify his name and support the needs of my family. Although I have very few religious peaces, I'm constantly asked by fellow church members for this. God is also dealing with me on this subject, so I tell those that are waiting, the art is on it...

Dennis Howell - Pol Ledent - I am a self-taught artist. I was born in Belgium o, 23rd October 1952. I started painting in 1995 . I took some drawing lessons in the art academy in Dinant. I try to paint the landscapes of the countryside where I am living : the southern part of Belgium. Firts I took part in many collective exhibitions . Than, I had personal exhibitions in Rochehaut (Galerie La Potele), in Dinant (Galerie L'impression), in Paris (Rive Gauche Galerie Artimus) in Brussels (Galerie G-Loft).In 2004, I had three exhibitions, again In Rochehaut, galerie La Potele in May. Then, in September Exhibition Libr'art in Libramont. In November, Galerie Impression in Dinant. What people like most in my paintings are the colours. My art doesn't speak to the intellect but to the soul and to the feelings. Talink the risk to seem old fashioned , I would say it is rather romantic. I wish you much pleasure looking at my paintings. Pol Ledent ...

Michael Rusch - It is interesting how the term Western Art is defined. For many it means cowboys and horses. While others think of the romantic exagerations by Remington. Still others will seriously consider Western Art, only if it represents the Southwest region. Well having been born in the American West.Living on a Farm/Ranch. Mining for coal and moly at one time. Living the city lifestyle as well, I see the the term Western Art as so much more. The color of the West encompasses its land, people and their attitudes . Whether from the past, future or present day, this color has its own unique quality. This is why I don't like to confine my subject matter to only the pre concieved traditional notions or ideas of what American Western Art is. Its the experiences I'm after so I can put them in the art. ...

Tim Guider - Tim, age 64 years, is an internationally renowned mural artist and sculptor. Born with a natural talent for art, at age 22 years Tim decided to pursue a career as an artist. He studied at the National Art School, Sydney and received an Artists Development Grant from the Australia Council. He now has 42 years of professional artistic development to bring to his work. Since the mid 1980s his murals, canvas paintings and sculpture have attracted an enormous amount of television and press coverage both nationally and globally. A few image examples of Tims work are included in this portfolio which clearly show the wide range of materials and techniques this artist has mastered. He includes sculpture effects in murals. He has painted his sculptures and even uses internal illumination as well as mechanical movement in sculpture. Much of Tims artwork has a theme of multicultural Australia and our Aboriginal heritage. I have known Tim for over 30 years. I was a young television journalist when I was first assigned to film his murals and interview the artist. Recently in October 2017 Tim wanted to unveil his break through work Enlightenment on the world stage. He exhibited two large Light ...

Roderick Brown - Roderick (Rod) Brown was born in Western Australia. Rod spent his first 30 years in an arid and remote gold mining town. As a youngster he remembers the great freedom he enjoyed surrounded by the stark but vivid images of the mines and surrounding bush, which he regularly explored. Rod as a child watched his father paint in oils and sketch, in charcoal and ink, portraits of local identities. The early seeds to later pursue art were sown at this time. Rod has enjoyed living with his family in Australia, Europe and the USA. During this time he has visited over 40 countries around the world enriching his life and building on the foundations acquired in his hometown, which was a very multicultural society. Rod decided to explore his artistic leanings taking up oil painting while living in Sydney. At that time Rod was a member of the Castle Hill Art Society and The Hornsby Art Society. Rod took up watercolour painting in the early 1980's, which has been his preferred medium since. Rod has exhibited at many public shows particularly while living in Sydney and has over the years painted commissioned portraits. Rod has paintings in corporate and ...

Alice Buttress - My name is Alice Buttress and I live the lovely highland village of Carrbridge near the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland. I have been working with clay for the past twenty years and sell my work mainly from my Studio in Carrbridge and at exhibitions. I work in stoneware and porcelain, sculpting, handbuilding and throwing in a traditional representational style. I fire my work in an electric kiln and gas Raku kiln with post firing reduction. Also for the past 7 years I have been chainsaw carving wood sculptures for the garden, most popular carvings are owls, squirrels, and bears. Inspiration for my work comes from historic cultures, legends and my surroundings in the Scottish Highlands....
