Artists Describing Their Art:

Jean Charles Dicharry - Sangeeta Singh - Sangeeta Singh I am an art nomad. Traveling and exploring styles, mediums, themes and techniques - both traditional and contemporary. Combining intuition and technique, I seek to create a sublime fusion of thought and medium. My colors are rich, always luminous.Intense.Striking. For me art is a celebration of life and an inward journey of growth and awakening. I have been a professional artist for the past 20+ years. I have completed and commissioned over a thousand paintings for clients across India, UK, Canada, France and the US. The paintings are in various styles-both traditional and contemporary and represent multiple mediums that I have worked with. I have experimented with great success with mixing traditional tools and techniques with contemporary mediums (painting with vegetable dyes & natural substances on Cedar wood), frescos on cement walls, Charcoal on canvas, painting with leather batik, Etching and painting on metal foils, brushed steel laminate, and glass. Overview of my art education and training * Studied Fine Art at the College of Fine Arts and Architecture at Hyderabad, India * Diploma in Ceramics from LS Raheja College of Art, Mumbai * Studied "Patachitra", the traditional art of Orissa for 3 years with the help of a "guru" ...

Matt Swinden - A Short Bio... I am an artist that can't paint, draw, or sculpt, therefore I am a photographer. That is why I capture images on film, as an expression of what I think is interesting; what I find humorous; what I think is beautiful; and what I think will tell a story. To me, the world is a boundless photo opportunity. That is my simple philosophy. I have been taking pictures since high school and have traveled throughout North America and Europe to capture my over 5,000 images. In my quest for the great "shot", I have sat with Elk grazing in Yellowstone, produced a smile from an elderly caretaker of a cliff top church in Sicily, sat for hours waiting for a pod of Killer Whales that never appeared only to be spellbound by a lighthouse and a sunset, and to have been licked by a hungry giraffe. I share these images with you in the hopes that you will gain some pleasure in viewing them. Use your imagination, pretend that you are the observer, make up your own story. Please allow me to be your guide Matt Swinden...

Catherine F. Botch - Artist Statement for Catherine Botch Art is play- the possibilities, "the what ifs",diverse perceptions! Ideas come and haunt me till I can reveal them through my Art. As an artist, I am pulled to observe and examine then document, translate, interpret, affect and effect through my perception and understanding of what takes place around me. From Order, I make Chaos then, ascertain a path to Reorder into a new visual statement. Art becomes an adventure inviting discovery, an intriguing problem or a puzzle calling me to unravel and explore. I enjoy working in a variety of media. I pick the one that will best portray what I wish to tell. My work tends to use mixed media, lately. The collage influence is becoming stronger. I enjoy using the traditional formats and bringing it to the new technology of today. Textiles and Quilting have always been very mathematically based, lending itself to the digital format of today's technology, fused with the artistic use of color theory. Quilting also is based in the compositional qualities used in collage, replacing paper with cloth. Textile Sculptures use the idea of mixing materials for contrast and embellishment. I use these basic qualities to ...

Catherine F. Botch - Corrie Mccluskey - My photography explores themes of "place" (as a repository of memory and symbol, and as a cultural artifact), the passage of time, looking at the forbidden and forgotten. I've searched out sites that touch the deeper emotions - places that are hard to look at, or where those in charge don't want us to see. This is a commitment to finding the "truth" (if there is such a thing) and a reminder of our choices as human beings. My method is to do a kind of street survey, focusing on buildings & industrial warehouses, prisons, train stations, cityscapes, graffiti and architectural details, using ambient light. I study how people have interacted with their environment and how the space can take on a life of its own, often with ghosts in every corner. Many of my images are of settings that people have left behind like empty skins. It seems the world is increasingly a very difficult place to live for so many - perhaps we've entered a new dark age - and I'm needing to focus my attention (and my camera) on social issues, starting right in my own back yard. I've begun a longterm project, "Within a Ten-...

Florence Bremond - French painter and illuminator Works with pigments mostly, these pigments are hand-ground and mixed to the required media (egg for tempera, acylic or alkyd resin, nut or linseed oil, etc.) Another common feature in her works, either modern or medieval, is the use of gold leaf/metallic leaves (leaf gilding).
